Clearing skies, drier onshore conditions. Year-to-date remains .48, accumulatedin early September. Approaching cold front with associated turbulence did not produce any rainfall at ground level despite reflectivity that indicated potential. West Coast remains cool and dry, wind direction has changed to a dangerous offshore dry direction, NE at 4.2 mph. High fire danger persists. |

Increasing cloudiness preceeds the next in a series of systems about to move onshore, with a bloom of moisture poised to release over the central California coast in a few hours.....although the winter rains are fairly typical for the region, that is, warmer at lower elevations, and temperatures have returned to average, because of recent more extreme events seen even at this location, snow and ice values will continue to be reported - - we may yet see either, or both, before this wild West Coast winter is over. |

This is the rainfall total since 0530 PDT, and is not 100% accurate. My rain gauge was tipped at a diagonal - due to mechanical dislodging during some yard work that was not reported to me - and when rain began during the early hours of the morning and nothing was registering, suspecting hardware issues, I went to check and discovered the problem, threee hours in to the rain event. Benicia 0.2 SW will have a reading close to what this station should have had.
Rain showers, moderate in intensity, continue intermittently, and more is expected through the day, with the definite possibility of thunderstorms in the afternoon and a good chance of hail. |

Variable high clouds from the trailing southerly end of a weather system has not as yet produced precipitation, but caused an incremental increase of high overcast (cirrostratus). The strong possibility of rain sometime during the week, with one of the continuing series of storm fronts marching across the Pacific, remains a definite and somehwat unpredictable possibility.
This station has observed a number of surprise spring events and expects to throughout the late spring and early summer, something uncommon in the central California Coast (except in El Nino years). |

Variable high clouds, increasing through the afternoon to L5 stratocumulus did not produce late-afternoon precipitation, however, the trailing southern edge of a weather system to the north was evident in passage; the normal marine layer moved in during the evening to be replaced mid-morning with variable high clouds. |

Heavy condensation and drizzlefrom variable low cloudiness produced noticeable collection of moisture as marine layers driven inland by descending low pressure systems begin to get wetter and wetter. |

Very heavy dew/drizzle accompanying night and morning marine layer incursion is causing heavy moisture accumulation in the ealy morning hours, as persistent, continuous low pressure systems dropping down from the northwest strengthen and suggest a return to rainfall-producing weather systems toward the end of summer and early fall, an early and prolonged rainy season for the area |

Record high temperature for 2010 reached yesterday at 3:35 P.M. at 102.7 degrees. Early morning fog and drizzle, producing visible trace amounts of precipitation, has all but vanished in the withering presence of a hgih pressure system built in from the southwest. |
