Large pools of standing water near the edges of the slow lane with vehicles traveling less than the posted speed limit. At times the rain decreased the visibility on the roadway. On a rural road, less traveled, the puddling was intermitant on the W BD lane we were traveling on. I think the heaviest rain lasted until on or about 10:00 or a little after, shortly after we returned home. On or about 3:35 AM it was raining hard again when I was letting my dog out to pee.

2/28/2010	8:00 AM	0.39	M	M	M	M	The torrential rain episode was heralded by a resounding roll of thunder, which I called into Mr. Benjamin at the Monterey NWS as I am also a "Weather Spotter." We had just begun driving to the Marina landfill when we experiened a sudden torrential rain that drastically reduced our driving speed/visibility until we had driven 3-4 miles West of our house. I was so loaud, within our vehicles, my wife and I, driving in separate vehicles, found it necessary to turn the volumn up on our Amateur Radio transceivers to hear each other. Over in the Marina landfill area we thought we saw a distant "wall and funnel clouds," that was verified on the 10PM news by a local T.V. Lead Forecaster with photo documentation.
