About 1" snow when I went to bed at 11 PM so snow must have increased after that. Only snowing very lightly this AM. Cold enough that roads were snow covered overnight and this aM.

No core samples taken this AM

Icy overnight but snow only fell lightly overnight. New accumulation just barely keeping up with settling rate Depth of snow this AM from 13" to 19" depending on the surfact beneath -- will go with average total depth of 16" Trees still caked with snow. High yesterday about 30 F and low overnight about 25F. Still snowing lightly this AM at 7:30 AM Total SWE came from a shaded location where the snow depth was 16" Only the lowest 2" of the snow had much water in it.

Back down to 20 F this AM. Snow both settling and melting a bit in contact with the ground. Roads all clear except some side streets.

Only about 70% of ground still covered with depths up to 4.0" in shaded areas. Low 32F this AM. Last evening around 11 PM we had a little chinook and temperatures soared into the 50s for an hour. Look at the SWE -- a lot of water in that 2" or remaining snow. It's all ripe and ready to melt now.

Readings somewhat estimated as we left home for a trip during the afternoon and found snow all blown around and redistributed when we returned.

Temperatures stayed in the 20s overnight but dipped to 15F just before sunrise this AM as winds calmed and skies cleared.

Snow depth more uniform here than out in open country, but we still vary from 0" to 2 feet.

Light rain began aroudn 11 AM and changed to all snow around 2:15 PM. Came down heavily all afternoon but especially about 2:30 - 8 PM. Strong winds 4- 8 PM Was shocked to find 1.00" of water content by 6 PM with just 4" of wet snow. Roads were very bad from 5:30 - 8 PM but got better as snow intensity and winds decreased. Snow mostly done by midnight. Cloudy, upper 20s this AM, light winds and winter wonderland as everything caked with wet snow. Managed to drop my snow board core while attempting to secure a measurement. It would have been over 1" for sure. See signfic. weather reports for 3/24 for more details. ground mounted precip gauge had 1.39", posted mounted had 1.34" took average. Also took two SWE measurements 0.98 and 1.13"

Still melting my samples. Ground-mounted gauge, 1.42" Post mounted gauge had a lot of snow on the rim -- Total 1.35" when melted. Mixed up my snow board core and my ground core measurements -- but they were close to each other

A period of light snow again during the evening with maybe another 0.01" of water content and no accumulation. Clearing overnight. Low 30F -- darn cold for mid May. But the grass is really, really green and fruit trees still seem to have their blossoms.

Winds gusted over 35 mph during the afternoon switching to about 25 mph from the NNE late afternoon. Then diminishing winds after dark and clearing with light winds and low in the low 40s overnight.

Area of convection began midday and continued much of the afternoon nearly overnight with a couple of brief showers. 0.04" in the gauge when I got home at 4 PM. Then convection got lively after 8 PM first to the N and NE and later a cell popped up just WSW of us with in cloud lightning. A brief squall began around 9:45 PM with a couple minutes of hail and then it quickly ended and cleared off. Clouded up again and woke to another light shower. Remaining cloudy and threatening with rain showers visible in several directions.

Mostly fell apart as it moved out of the foothills but cooled us into the mid 70s. hen a huge CB formed around 8 PM to our east -- gorgeous at sunset as it moved eastward with mammatus and huge anvil. Comfortable overnight with low in the upper 50s.

Cooled from a high in the mid 70s to 60 degrees by 5 PM and stayed cool all night with low low 50s with clear skies and heavy morning dew.

6/7/2010 9:48 PM Storm developed WSW of us over Horsetooth and seemed to sit their for 15 minutes. In cloud lightning -- no cloud to ground. Nearly overhead. Could see what looked like a very clear narrow intense hail shaft -- then headed inside and the hail began but lasted only about 100 seconds. Shortly afterwards the skies overhead were clear.
