Rain fell mostly between 9:10 and 9:40 -- weather station indicated at one point - 6.55 inches falling per hour. Looking out the window, it appeared about like hurricane conditions. It was nearly as though it was raining horizontally. Branches broken. Lots of standing water (gone this morning though). There were 2 or three 'few second' bouts of hail within the rain during that time. Unable to report until now as computers were off as well as unable to access Internet this morning. This was message I received from the owners of the wind mast currently on our property: I was looking at the met mast data and it seems that you experienced very high winds last night. It also seems that it was isolated to your immediate area. Did a tornado pass near by or was it a regular storm?

According to 911, when I phoned them, it had already been reported and it was a grass fire 2 miles north and 2 east of us. With winds blowing from NE, NW, and SE -it appeared to be moving southwest - it was moving our way. It was a little frightening as our electricity had gone off, so with no generator backup -- no water. Luckily a quick and heavy rain put it out - may have been fire trucks there too, I don't know-- as it was an hour before our electricity was restored.
