My gosh some of the biggest flakes I've seen since the big '73 storm down here. It really got crazy when the storm put the hammer down at about 4pm. Cars were running off the road everywhere. ratio in Peach County was more like 5:1, so it was great for making snowballs and snowmen. I read where my Dahlonega counterpart said not good for snowmaking, interesting the different ratios between North and South GA. Hi Mom!

So thats when I removed the funnel so the snow would not collect in the top and fall out. Temp at 3am was 39, but 7am temp was 32. Snowed steadily and sometimes heavily until it quit around 3pm. Temps in Mid 30's during the day. I would think around 6 inches give or take fell from the sky, but I have nothing to back that up other than it was one of the longest steadiest snows I've seen in a while. Flakes were big (quarter size?) for most of the event. Good packing snow. This morning temp around 30 under sunny skies and the snow is crusty and has gone down to 2 inches. Overall a good snow and thats about 6 inches total for the year (.5, 2.5, 3.0)

Yesterdays was shorter in duration, but maybe stronger. In downtown Dahlonega trees were toppled, branches down, and many of the hundreds of memorial cross/flag markers for our war Heroes were either blown down or severely bent. The paper said some people think it was a mini tormado but I vote for violent microburst from a pop-up tstorm. I would say the storms of the last two days in terms of water and wind have been some of the strongest I have seen in years.
