Warm humid day yesterday with a squall of a bowing type that arrived by the west side of Elk Grove by ~ 3:45pm with estimated sustained winds of 40-45mph for ~5 minutes and heavy rain no hail. Moderate to heavy rain with wind and lightning for about 30-45 minutes could not get a sig. report out due to lightning activity(after main storm) and other family obligations, however, 0.74" collected by 6pm. The strongest and heaviest of these storms were largely to my south (thankfully, this time), although I did get quite a light/lightning show and thunder rumbled almost continuously from 4:30-8pm. Another 0.14" collected by 8pm with a beautiful display of mammatus (in rows)in the setting sun. And a special thanks to the NWS G. Izzi, J.
