1.3" is a lot of rainfall for this area in one day but I don't think it produced flooding. There have been flood watches and flooding for this area, though, due to large amounts of rain that cannot run off quickly enough. |

Something was different about the minor ground and field flooding. The rain puddles (both large and small) had not soaken in by 6:00 pm as they normally do and it was a warm day. Nolan suggested that our soil is still quite saturated from our heavy November rains. Moisture moves slowly through clay in winter since the plants are nearly completely dormant ... trees and other plants are not using water. This means ground stays wet much longer. |

Our front yard got so flooded after the 1.90" of Christmas day rain. I made my AM report that day but later (on 12/25), our internet service went down until 12/27. I could not report 12/26. We never lost cable service, so we don't know internet loss was because of the lawn flooding. |

I recorded "severe" for flooding value for Union County. Road conditions were hazardous due to standing and running rainwater and flooding alongside the roads. The creeks I saw were well out of their beds or extremely swollen. Small puddles and ponds in the fields had turned into lakes and streams. |

0.94 was reported at 9:40 AM yesterday, 0.83 reported later in the day, and at 10:00 this morning, another 0.26 had fallen (probably yesterday).
I am sure there is at LEAST minor flooding still present. We live in a low lying geographic area as opposed to Mecklenburg county. |

I know, everybody, hard to believe I am up this early. Blame it on hormonal changes (insomnia) but the upside is that I am able to track this storm!
This was not a "Significant" storm. It started at 11:00 AM and is currently, at 6:00 PM, still drizzling rain and falling flakes. Poured and measured 0.10 precipitation into the inner tube. There is still snowflakes that have melted to the side of the gauge that will register tomorrow inside the tube. |

See 3/2 Notes. Yesterday's storm produced 0.10 melted snowflakes and sleet from 11:00AM to 6:00PM. At that time, there were still snowflakes that melted to the side of the gauge that didn't melt and collect at the bottom that I registered today.
After 6:00PM, it continued to snow lightly and by 8:00AM today, what was on the ground had morphed into a sleet mix.
Today's melted mix of rain and sleet at 8:00 AM, added with yesterday's 0.10 core precipitation taken and dumped at 6:00 PM, plus the melted flakes that had plastered themselves to the sides of the gauge and fallen down = .35 melted CORE precipitation in the past 24 hours. |

Hey y'all. The dryness is appreciated here ... makes this premature heat much more bearable. Unfortunately, we are looking at near record highs EVER for March-end, beginning of April. Global warming or climatic change. You decide. |

I think it's been 6 weeks now without any rain or even a shower and NO RAIN is in the 10 day forecast. Looks like we could have a repeat of 2007 drought. Call it global warming if you want; nonetheless it is climatic change for sure. |

Apparently the "significant rain" from yesterday (0.90 recorded in 140 minutes) did continue ... but it was not that HARD rain; rather it was just a constant rain all afternoon until 7:00. After the rain, it was nice enough outside to BBQ chicken . |

A huge T-storm moved 3 or 4 miles north of us yesterday. It moved eastward to and through Monroe, NC. I heard we got a drizzle from it but there wasn't anything in the gauge when I checked at 11:45 this morning. I think that IF anything fell, it must have been so insignificant that it didn't bother to collect or it evaporated from all the heat we've had. Temps are really high and humid. |

Nice storm, heard it brewing from the north and it descended. My husband said it grew more powerful as it came down. It lasted about an hour or so. I gardened out in it the whole time as it'd been so hot that day ... when else in the year can you enjoy hard rain falling on you? |

Killer storm yesterday. Our Shih Tzus trembled and shivered in our arms. We had flooding at the time but no flooding as of this morning. |

This precip belongs to the storm yesterday. 1.20" by 5:06 PM + another 0.50" = 1.70" within about 60 minutes. See Significant Weather report. |

Nothing in the gauge, but it is so humid outside, the inside of the gauge hasn't dried out from the storm 2 days ago. Still moist inside. People say this is the hottest summer ever but temps are not so high for extended periods of time ... it's just been a wet and humid summer. I love the rain. I can redo this summer. |

The air sure still is so thick with humidity. It may be cooler but the south puts out yet again another nasty summer. |

Good grief. The piddly amount in the gauge from yesterday is practically steaming. |

Raindrops are dripping from the trees; it feels a bit humid outside. I hope that;s due to more oncoming rain. |

Finally, a little flooding in our yard. The clay must be starting to gag from all the rain it's gotten.
NEW NOTE 8:53 PM: With the Flood watch announcements, I checked my gauge and it read just 0.71" for the whole day. |

We got 0.71" yesterday as of 9:00 PM. The other 1/2" fell during the night. We still have the flood pond in our front yard. It is cool and pleasant outside but not as chilly as I expected it to be at such a drop to 66 degrees. |
