This storm was in full swing yesterday morning. The
measurements from yesterday morning are part of this storm. The snow board measurement might not be as accurate as it should have been as it had been moved to our deck. I don't think it got a good representation of the snowfall as it actually turned out to have 2 recycle boxes next to it that may have blocked some snow. Out in the middle of the yard I measured 10" but this may have had some snow from the previous snowstorm. The snow stopped the heavy snowfall between 1:20 pm to 1:30 pm but the rain started lightly around that time. After that I went to work so couldn't do more measurements until this morning. |

We brought the snow gauge in at 2320 last night 12/13/09 but went to bed to allow the tube snow to melt. The snow depth on the snow board at that time was 0.56". I did not measure the total snow depth because we have footprints all over and it wouldn't be accurate. This morning I'm unable to measure the snow depth as it is iced over. The start of the snow time below is accurate but the ending is an approximation. The storm cleared out fairly fast and we saw some of the meteor shower! |

Snow started approximately 11:45 am yesterday 12/31/09. It ended according to my husband around 2:30-3:00 pm. I measured the snowboard when I got home at 9:30 pm. The depth was 1.3". The melted snow in the tube at that time was 0.1". I did not take a total snow & ice measurement at that time. Measurements this morning from the tube added 0.01" to the total measurement of melted snow from the tube. The accumulation is varied as there are people and animal footprints but it is closest to 4.0". There is crusty ice at the bottom and I had trouble getting the snow tube to the ground. But that melted amount was 0.81". This was measured this morning around 8:30 am. |

Gathering snow from the yard was not accurate as there is a small crust of ice at the base that refused to come up with the tube so the water content is approximate but fairly close to accurate. Gauge was emptied of 1" at 1:17 am this morning but the rest wasn't emptied out until this morning. We didn't empty the rest in the tube since it was so late but we don't think there was anymore rain even though there had been another band that passed by. Couldn't be sure on that as it looked rather heavy on the radar. Last night the wind was extreme! The trees whipped back & forth. My snow board got blown over. There were numerous flashes of an aquamarine color that lit up the sky and then the electricity went out till around 2:30 am. Sometimes the wind sounded like the proverbial "train" going through as people report with tornadoes, but there's no evidence of one that I can tell around here. The yards are littered with hundreds of mostly small branches. There are no downed trees here. The ice on the ground is less but still there and the places where the plow piled the snow are still there, but have decreased. The puddles in the lawn are gone. |

The snow on the ground is in patches with a layer of ice underneath. This measurement includes some of the ice underneath this time as it can be broken up. There's a little dirt mixed in. The snow is mostly gone, but the patch I got the measurement from seems to be accurate for that patch but not for a uniform measurement as if the whole yard were covered. |

The gauge is completely dry as well as the driveway. I don't understand this because the radar shows that we should be having something in the way of precipitation! The "green" on the radar over Concord showed up around 7:15 pm & there was nothing until around 7:47 pm where I felt with my hand outstretched and had a tiny bit of very light mist. It lasted briefly & no more was noted. |

It was extremely hot yesterday & then around 9 PM (approx) a very cool breeze started up. Luckily I checked the NOAA weather radio & heard of severe thunderstorms coming. The actual rain started at 11:03 pm & stopped pretty much by 11:30 PM. Then it started up again about midnight & I don't know when it stopped. Better temps today. Hit a record high temp yesterday. I did not go out during the thunderstorm to measure the rainfall. |

Had 2 little bugs swimming around in the rain water in the tube. I don't know how much they displace making the measurement inaccurate. The rain came in bands yesterday with some mildly heavy. It was gone definitely by 2:00 PM & was probably earlier than that. Sorry, I didn't catch the exact time. The first band started at 1:30 pm & lasted until 1:31.30 PM. Then there was a little off & on but didn't record the ending. That was when the total rain occurred that I know of as I was gone after 2:20 PM & hadn't recorded the amount in the tube at that time. |

The rain storm started as noted at 12:37 pm 6/6/2010. It started out lightly. At 1:53 pm, it was quite heavy rain which lasted till 1:59 pm. Then it became more medium rain. At 2:03 pm there was 0.62" measured with medium rain continuing. At 2:08 pm heavy rain came once again. This continued until 2:12 pm. At 2:18 pm, light rain began with a total of 0.95" in the tube. At 2:38 pm, the rain stopped for a while. It began again as medium rain at 4:41 pm and stopped at 5:15 pm and cleared out. There was ponding in the street & yard. |

Yesterday's storm came on fairly fast. A huge dark cloud came overhead & cumulous clouds were ahead of the dark cloud southwest of it. They almost seemed to be separate because when the dark cloud went over & was gone, leaving totally clear skies overhead, the cumulous clouds continued to rollby in the same area. They were beautiful reflecting the peach color from the sun. The thunder & lightning became extremely heavy during the storm with it seemingly constant, one right after the other. Suddenly the wind whipped up and a heavy rain came with it. There had been a couple drops right before making me wonder if it had started, but once the heavy rain came I knew it had started with a couple drops. At 7:49 the rain lightened. Still heard thunder. At 7:55 pm the rain stopped & the sky was a beautiful shade of blue. We measured 0.28" at the end of that storm. There was no more rain after that. |
