Had a couple light brief showers between about 1345 and 1645 hrs. Also had some dry thundershowers in local area and mainly to the NE through E around 1955 to about 2040 hrs. NAS Fallon obviously did not have anyone working in their weather office at this time as nothing was recorded for this event. Should get back to old days when they worked 24-7. Like when I was there. |

Light rain started around 1710 hrs and continued pretty steadily till almost 0550 hrs. May have had a breif break or two before 2200hrs and between 0300 and 0430 hrs. Had pretty good rain around 1130 to about 0145 hrs with some major under forecast winds both by NWS and the TV local yocal forecaster types. Winds kicked but and were not forecast - lost power several times during heavier rain and wind events. These forecasters need to monitor conditions and forecast not nowcast if they even did that. Too little to late actually on that note. |

Received about 5 inches of snow from 1630 to 0700 hrs while it was still snowing at 0700 hrs. Amount is estimated as I had no time to melt snow as I was on may way to work in nasty road conditions - no snow plows seemed to have run in area from start of snow through 0530 hrs on 12-7-09. |

Snowed almost all day till about 1645 hrs - then began again from about 1745 to about 2100 hrs. No doubt we received at least 9.0 inches of snow during this time with some areas in yard showing 10 + inches easily from Sunday Eveing through Monday Evening. Noted the base only showed about 6 inches of snow. Will attmept to get snow precip equivalent soon as I can get into my back yard during daylight - not till Thursday most likely. |

Giving up on NWS and TV clown forecasters for the week. None of what they said would happen really happened in Fallon or Fernley and when it was not suppose to snow, rain we had copius amounts of ice pellets or freezing drizzle/rain mainly on Monday. Did not get measurement of these events from Sunday through monday but checked gauge last night to find we had 0.25 inches of precip total for those two days. This was a surprise but reasonable when NAS Fallon had 0.19 inches on the main event on Monday I believe. |

Absolutely nothing in the form of precip and then at 1456 hrs had several light rain showers that lasted off and on until about 1645 hrs. Very light for most part, but big drops. Had much better shower activity just north and then it moved to the east. Noted earlier on Friday when we were suppose to get showers that the db rate was a solid 20 dbs or greater and had nothing falling at all as a good band came into the area around 1400 hrs - noted some convective nature to the dark cloud bases almost looking like a weak CBMAM - but again no showers at all until Saturday afternoon. Might be the NEXRAD is out of sink - use to be a good 20-25 dbs band would be showery - not nothing?? Just a thought - have seen this on several occasions over the last couple of months. |

Boy did it rain last night - had few brief light showers around 1155, 1235, 1410 and 1815 hrs. Then it started to rain around 1920 and got to be moderate for about 10-15 minutes around 1935 and again around 2045. Rain seemed to be fairly steady until about 0430 hrs when it became fairly light. Sometime between about 0230 and 0430 we got about 1/2 inch of very wet snow (did not observe this). Snow did not stick to roads but did have slush on roads when leaving for work at about 0520 hrs this morning. Rain gauge is estimate - had snow in top and did not have time to melt it. .82 was in tube though. |

Update for yesterday's report also. Unable to measure snow in and on rain gauge for precip equivalent in rain gauge yesterday morning due to leaving for work around 0520 hrs. Still had light rain falling at that time. Got home yesterday afternoon and after several showers during the day noticed gauge was at .98 inches total including previous day/night rain. Had a couple light showers in afternoon and then a much better shower around 2015 hrs or so. Total in gauge this morning was right at .99 inches. Noticed good difference between my reading and NFL (Naval Air Station Fallon). Obviously we had more rain than they did. Yesterdays total is at .11 inches which included precip not melted when I left. Hope you have another source to verify the city amount vice the base amount for totals. .99 inches is something I have not seen in Fallon while working at the weather office on base. May have been 1 time in about 1995 during a thunderstorm, but not just from rain. I know in 2004 we had good rain in December I believe, but I was in Phoenix at that time. |

Did not have time to measure before going to work. Had breif snow shower at 1730 hrs that was real light and last off and on for about 1 hr. Had significant and very wet snow event begin about 0015 hrs that lasted till I left for work at 0520 hrs this morning. Observed close to 2 1/2 inches of snow on yard and fences. Will provide precip amount for yesterday and today in report tomorrow morning. Current precip amount is estimated. |

Then had good rain event around 0544 to about 1145 hrs yesterday - surprised to see amount in gauge after seeing what NAS Fallon recorded. Light rain began about 1820 hrs and continued until about 0110 hrs in the morning - few heavier periods but mostly just about steady light rain. New forecaster at NWS Reno got his feet wet on this forecast - if not a new one then one that just got tilted again. Good rain, good day and nearly a typical Memorial Day in that we get a lot of rain on this day in Fallon. Just ask the old timers. |
