Weird bird year here: none of the normal summer ducks (mergansers, mallards, etc.), really miss them playing on the river out front; the one pair of Canadian geese should be out with their young, but no sign of any, but coyotes may account for that. I heard the 'yotes yip their chorus from the area of the nest and some goose-type squawking a few weeks ago. Now the grapes over my patio are ripe and there aren't the usual masses of birds harvesting them before I can. I like my grapes, but I like the birds more.
