It was snowing when we returned at 5 PM. Based on residual patches on the ground at 5 PM, best guess that about 0.5" accumulated before melted by the rain and increasing temperature. The second snow episode of the day was over by 10 PM; this was responsible for the 0.4" on the ground this morning.

The reported snow fell in the first hour after the reading yesterday morning- the final hour of the overnight snow storm. Yesterday afternoon was cloudy with wonderful long sun breaks -perfect for plowing the road and an afternoon ski.

Everything is coated with about 1/4" of ice; the snow has a nice 1/2" or so crust. Yesterday starting at 8AM and ending about 12 Noon, 4.4" of snow fell. This morning, this core had shrunk to 3.0". Yesterday at 5PM, I emptied the gauge and melted the snow/rain/freezing rain; this yielded .91", overnight an additional .19" of rain and freezing rain fell. Happy New Year!

Earlier in the day yesterday there was some freezing rain. Had to wear my "grippers" to safely walk down the hill to the gauge this morning!

The auto rain gauge indicates that .04" of the total fell before midnight yesterday.
