I have made a HORRIBLE mistake in this mornng's report. I was so concerned with getting the snow measurement I accidently poured out the rain/snow gauge (long story). My father-in-law stated we received 5 inches of snow just up the road. So needless to say, take my report as a novice and with a grain of salt! I will try to review the online instructions before the next major storm (scheduled for Sunday). Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience!

Yesterday a.m. we had a blanket of snow about an inch deep & it started melting off by afternoon. This morning the snow is 75%+ melted off. When I went to the gauge this a.m., there was no snow/moisture accummulation. When the snow storm occurred on Fri. nite, my husband stated the winds were fierce and the snow was coming down at an angle. So that may be a reason that I have "nothing" to report. Beautiful morning today, though.

Wheat that hasn't been sprayed has rust (from all the moisture). The wild flowers have been blooming for a week (esp. the little yellow daisies) & it has been beautiful. The crescendo is quickly approaching with the yuccas starting to bloom. It's paradise, I'm telling you!

However, north of us and back to the west, my father-in-law said that water was standing in the fields and Amarillo got big rain. We're very thankful not to have gotten big rain or hail.

Snow and freezing rain occurred on Thurs.: nothing more after that. Hard to get an accurate report of snow on the ground because of uneven ground/ground cover but there's plenty of ground cover but not more than this (that is, 2 inches except, of course, the drifts). When I measured the snow on Friday, I measured 2.75 inches. Although it hasn't been warm enough to melt, I measured 2 inches today. Hope this helps ya'll: thank you for your service!

Very pleasant down there; but once we got back out of there, windy. Things are drying out: we're ready for 3 inches (or more) of rain tomorrow. Wind's coming out of the south so that's a possiblility.

Wheat harvest going strong with the wheat being the best I've seen out here (16 years). Harvest should be done tomorrow so we'll be ready for big rain then so we can then plant milo/maise.
6/20/2010 6/24/2010 8:00 AM 5 1.25 M M We were dry as a bone until last night & then got a nice rain with a great light show. Surprisingly, up at our entrance where our milo needs to be planted, there's hardly any trace of moisture. Thank the Good LORD we still have more rain chances.
