What a disappointment! On radar, watched an outflow boundary (we used to call them squall lines) approach from the east about 8 pm, with great anticipation. Felt one drop of rain in my face at 8:38. By the time the line got here at 8:45, it was all bluster and no rain. Being just before dark, I could see swirls in the street lights, but it was nothing but dust. A little lightning in the north; nothing but wind here. |

Missed a nice shower that drifted by to our west about 3:00 pm. Then a second system reached us at 5:15 pm. Started with large, but sparse, raindrops; finally some measurable rain. Blustery winds for a short while; and a little lightning and thunder, not close. High had been 101°, but dropped to 86° quickly. Better than nothing. |

"Dreaded upper level low" formed; squall line; hard rain, close lightning, loud thunder for about an hour. Lost satellite TV and internet for 45 min. One clap of thunder knocked picture off wall. Significant Weather reported, total 1.34". More rain during the night; dripping off roof at obs time. Probably more to come today. Need this rain bad. Despite quick, heavy rain; no runoff into bar ditch; all soaked up into dry soil. Local drought conditions following only .07" total August. County instituted 90-day burn ban this week. |

First spit of TS Hermine started about 11:45 am. Heavy-looking clouds, but no wind. Brief heavy rain 12:25 pm, still no wind, no thunder. 0.08" by 1:00 pm. No more rain all day til waked up by heavy rain at 4:24 am. Still raining, some gusting wind at observation time. Surprised at the little standing water in yard from asphalt driveway run-off, but we still have some cracks in the ground to fill after the good rain 5 days ago. |

TS Hermine. Significant Weather reported. Rain began in earnest right away. No real wind until about noon; gusty, swirling winds from east. Severe gust at 1:00; large hackberry tree fell over and limbs from Chinese tallow torn off. Gusts at nearby Randolph AFB reported at 55 mph. Off and on rain and sprinkles all day, with gusting winds. Lost satellite TV and internet just a little. Storm band with lightning and thunder began about 9:00 pm. Trained to our south, but eventually hit us about 10:45 pm. 2.5" overnight. Bar ditch almost full (unusual), and no newspaper delivery. School bus had to make long detour to pick up neighbor kid. |

Just a few sprinkles in the afternoon from TD Hermine remnants. Missed some good training thunderstorms to our north, although enough is enough already. Sawed up blown-over tree, but ground too wet to try to haul off debris without making bad ruts. Still lots of water running in the bar ditch. |

Distinct "outflow boundary" at 4:05 pm preceded rain and wind storm. Strong, gusty winds accompanied by brief heavy rain. A little distant thunder, but no loss of satellite TV or internet. Wind blew over lawn lighthouse that toppled in last week's TS Hermine, but it was unsecured. Sage bush that had been blown over by TS, then uprighted: it's listing again. Large, unreachable dead limb from TS blew out of tree. A little residual light rain later. Temp dropped from 90 to 77 in 30 minutes. Significant Weather reported. |
