10/10/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M It's been unusally warm for this time of year the past couple of days. We have been pretty dry too. It's been forcasted to be 85 deg F today. Currently at 7:45 sunny and calm; 49 deg F.
10/11/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M More 80+ weather today. Things are really dry.

10/14/2010 7:30 AM 0.01 M M M M The little bit of rain we had yesterday around 11:30 a.m. (0.01 inches) had less moisture than the heavy dew/fog we had a few days earlier. So the dry harvest conditions continue here in our little pocket of northwest Indiana. Currently it's 38 deg F under sunny skies.
10/17/2010 7:45 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Clear sunny skies; calm to very light winds; 38 deg F at 7:45 a.m. CDT

10/21/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Things are mighty dry. We had a hot dry summer and a very dry harvest. Newton County, Indiana has been put under a "No Burn" ban until further notice. At 7:15 a.m. skies clear, a cool breeze, 40 deg F.
10/22/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Another dry day; grass has a little frost this morning; winds calm with clear skies; 26 deg F at 7:00 a.m. CDT

10/24/2010 8:05 AM 0.31 M M M M Finally a much needed rain fell yesterday, not much but something is better than nothing. At 8:05 a.m. when I checked the gauge it had started to lightly rain again; winds SW and 55 deg F.
10/25/2010 8:00 AM 0.25 M M M M A Sunday morning shower, afternoon thunderstorm and early rain this morning gave us some much needed moisture (0.25 inches). We even had a little hail with the afternoon thunderstorm for about 15 seconds. This morning the skies have cleared and winds calmed; 57 deg F at 8:00 a.m. CDT
10/26/2010 8:25 AM 0.29 M M M M Heard warning sirens go off at 8:00 a.m. We were listed under a tornado warning until 8:15 a.m. CDT. 4/18/2011 9:00 AM 0.05 M M M M I don't think the warmth of Spring will ever get here and stay this year. Again today we have NE breezes with cloudy skies; 45 deg F at 9:00 a.m. CDT.
4/19/2011 7:45 AM 0.68 M M M M Rain came through the night leaving 0.68 inches in the gauge; brisk winds ENE; 39 deg F at 7:45 a.m. CDT
4/20/2011 8:00 AM 1.33 M M M M Thunderstorms came through last night accompanied by much lightening. We were fortunate not to receive any of the hail or strong winds that were forecasted. The storm did leave 1.33 inches in the gauge. Some fields I see small ponds. This morning the winds are brisk and cold from the NW; cloudy skies; 35 deg F at 8:00 a.m. CDT
4/21/2011 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M It's good to see the sun after a couple of dreary days; winds light from the East this morning, something we haven't been short on this spring - East winds.
4/22/2011 8:00 AM 0.41 M M M M Another dreary, cold day in the neighborhood. The rain collected in the gauge, 0.41 inches started around 11:00 p.m. last night. A fine rain was falling as I checked the gauge at 8:00 a.m. CDT; brisk east winds; 40 deg F.
4/23/2011 8:00 AM 0.56 M M M M More rain fell off and on yesterday giving us plenty soil saturation after the past weeks rainy days. Fields have ponding in areas making it impossible to even think of beginning planting, and the creeks are up and flowing swiftly. This morning at least the sun is trying to burn through the clouds and the temp feels a little warmer than yesterday on a light SW breeze.

4/25/2011 8:30 AM 0.10 M M M M Cloudy, drizzly conditions this morning with a light northerly breeze; 49 deg F at 8:30 a.m. CDT
4/26/2011 7:45 AM 1.14 M M M M More rain and dreary weather; cloudy skies this morning with strong southerly winds; 57 deg F. Sky looks like it could rain a little more. Fields have ponding and are overly saturated. Don't see any planting happening anywhere in the near future.
4/27/2011 8:45 AM 0.66 M M M M Another day of rain - not good for spring planting. The only good thing is the rain that has fallen hasn't been a pounding one that causes deep washes in the fields, but field residue is collecting in the ponded areas. Rain was falling as I checked the gauge at 8:45 a.m. CDT with a NW wind; 50 deg F.
4/28/2011 8:30 AM 0.65 M M M M More rain fell last night and through the early morning hours leaving 0.65 inches in the gauge. This morning skies are clearing seeing some sunshine; winds strong from the west; 47 deg F at 8:30 a.m. CDT
4/29/2011 8:00 AM 0.04 M M M M Finally a day the sun is shining brightly and rain is not in the forecast. Fields have ponding is low areas and are very saturated. Winds are light from the NNW; 45 deg F. at 8:00 a.m. CDT

5/2/2011 7:00 AM 0.38 M M M M Rain came last night starting around 6:00 p.m. CDT and continued for about 2-3 hours. The small bit of field topsoils that had started to dry from over the weekend were rewetted with the 0.38 inches received last night, but the good thing I have noticed is some fields have absorbed the ponding left from the past two weeks of rain. The sun is starting to burn through the clouds, winds are calm; looks like it will be a nice day.
5/3/2011 7:30 AM 0.01 M M M M Cool, damp feel in the air this morning at 43 deg F with calm to very light breeze from the NE; sun peaking from around the clouds at 7:30 a.m. CDT

5/6/2011 7:30 AM 0.14 M M M M A few sprinkles through the afternoon then a light shower during the evening left us with 0.14 inches in the gauge. Fields are starting to drying out some; we need some warm weather. This morning we have an abundance of sunshine with SW winds.
5/7/2011 7:00 AM 0.02 M M M M A cloudy, gray morning with light sprinkles falling as I checked the gauge (0.02 inches), winds light; 51 deg F at 7:00 a.m. CDT
5/8/2011 7:00 AM 0.81 M M M M Got caught in the field working when a hail storm hit around 5:17 p.m. CDT. It came fast and furious, took cover in the pickup. We received a fast 0.76 inches of rain in 15 minutes. After the storm passed the sun came out brightly with a beautiful rainbow to the east over the woods. This morning sun is shining with winds light from the east. Happy Mother's Day!

5/16/2011 7:00 AM 0.09 M M M M Sunday was nothing but a drizzly, cold day with winds from the north resulting in 0.09 inches in the gauge. Today skies have cleared, sun shining brightly still on the cool side with northerly winds.

5/23/2011 6:30 AM 0.77 M M M M A severe line of thunderstorms came through yesterday around 4:30 p.m. High winds accompanied by a wall of dirt picked up from the fields along its path made visibility impossible. Heavy rain and lightening followed with the continuation of high winds knocking out power. This morning winds are from the south; sunshine and 64 deg F at 6:30 a.m. CDT
5/24/2011 7:00 AM 0.22 M M M M A couple of afternoon thundershowers deposited 0.22 inches in the gauge on 5/23. We have sunny skies this morning; 62 deg F. and light southerly winds at 7:00 a.m. CDT
5/25/2011 6:50 AM 0.07 M M M M We were fortunate to only be on the edge of an evening thunderstorm leaving behind only 0.07 inches in the gauge. Fields are plenty wet and don't need any more precip at present.
5/26/2011 7:00 AM 1.20 M M M M Thunderstorms were all around the entire day 5/26 with the warning siren going off around 9:30 a.m. for a tornado that did damage just 3-4 miles south of us and continued a little bit east. This morning its much cooler with the dampness in the air, winds N-NE and 47 deg F. at 7:00 a.m. CDT
5/27/2011 7:30 AM 0.01 M M M M Not but 0.01 inches in the gauge this morning which is nice considering the type of week we've had with all the storms. Some of the small ponds in the corners of a few fields are receding with the help of our manmade trenches for draining. Winds are light from the N-NW this morning and it does look like the sun is trying to burn through the clouds.
5/28/2011 7:30 AM 0.01 M M M M A gloomy, foggy start to the day; south winds; 54 deg F at 7:30 a.m. CDT
5/29/2011 7:15 AM 0.84 M M M M Rain showers that started around 1:30 p.m. yesterday and continued mostly until late night added more rain to already super saturated soils; ponds that were almost gone in fields are back with a vengence. This morning the sun is burning through the clouds to give us a brighter start to the day; winds calm to light from the south and humid; 62 deg F at 7:15 a.m. CDT
5/30/2011 8:00 AM 0.44 M M M M Computer was knocked out from the storm on 5/29 at 1:25 p.m. so I'm finally able to enter the information today, 6/1/11.

6/1/2011 8:00 AM 0.05 M M M M We must have gotten under a storm cloud yesterday approximately at 3:00-3:15 p.m. CDT. We had white rain for about 5 minutes with strong winds. Rain lasted about 10-15 minutes. Today seems like a much nicer, "DRIER" day in store; SW winds.

6/5/2011 8:00 AM 0.19 M M M M A scary wall of dirt that turned the day into night came on the strong winds of a thunderstorm that raced through our area yesterday late afternoon while we were in the field planting. We only received 0.19 inches in the gauge which is a rarity compared to the other storms we've received during this wild spring weather. We have tree debris and one large limb to clean up. This morning we have cloudy skies and calm winds; humid; 68 deg F.

6/7/2011 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M It's suppose to be another hot one today. Yesterday was in the middle 90's but we are not complaining, it's helping to dry down the fields so we can continue planting soybeans. Sunny skies this morning; you can feel the humidity in the air on a SW breeze.
6/8/2011 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Another sunny, hot one today; winds breezy from the SW. Forecasters calling for strong T-storms tonight - hope they don't get too violent like the past ones.
6/9/2011 7:00 AM 0.11 M M M M We had a little bit of rain (0.11 inches) through the night and it spit a little as I checked the gauge. Skies look like more is on the way. Winds from the NE; 64 deg F. at 7:00 a.m. CDT
6/10/2011 8:15 AM 1.41 M M M M The rain fall collected came over three different thunderstorms. 6/15/2011 8:20 AM 1.02 M M M M Morning thunderstorms dumped another 1.02 inches in the gauge, rain that we didn't need at this time as we are still trying to finish bean planting. It was a strobe light of lightening off to the west starting at 4:00 a.m. CDT and continued until the storm reached us and dropped the bulk of rain recorded. At 8:20 a.m. we have a SE breeze with cloudy skies. They are forecasting more rain throughout the day.
6/16/2011 7:30 AM 1.36 M M M M Yesterday morning/afternoon, 6/15, we had a few very light showers but then around approx. 6:20 the sky opened up and rained "white rain" for about 10 minutes two separate times until the storm cloud moved on leaving behind 1.3 inches in about a half hour. 7/18/2011 7:00 AM 0.01 M M M M Received just a smidge of rain through the early morning hours (0.01). Another hot, humid day in store. Could really use a nice soaker rain for the field crops. Corn is curling and beans are slow to grow and turn leaves over.

7/22/2011 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Another day of oppressive temps; to be high 90's with high humidity. The forecasters keep talking rain but we see nothing other than very thirsty crops, yards and gardens. We have had only 0.03 inches of rain since the second day of July.
7/23/2011 8:00 AM 0.03 M M M M Yesterday afternoon we saw storms to the north of us but we only received 0.03 inches in the gauge. And again last night around 9:30-10:00 p.m. there was an abundance of lightening flashing through the night sky to the north but again we did not receive a drop of rain. Still watering the garden and flowers but unfortunately I haven't a sprinkler system for the corn and soybean fields. They could really use a soft inch of rain or more. Temps to be in the low 90's today; winds SE at 8:00 a.m. CDT
