The electricity went off right after I sent a message on Saturday. There was tornados that touched down about 8 miles (which is where I work) and there was some damage to a few homes and another that hit in a community well north of us. It had to have happened here just before i typed the last message and then the power went out. |

The thunderstorm was over my community when I was on my way home from work at 5:20 p.m. I got caught in it about 5:30 P.M.. Strong gust and very heavy rain . The ground was really parched so it absorbed the rain willingly. |

Not a drop of rain fell here yesterday. Nothing! The wind is constant. The poor little humming bird keeps trying for a sip of sweet necter and the wind keeps moving the feeder. My hanging baskets have to sit on the ground to keep from being blown off their hooks. I do have much sympathy for the poor people in Ark. and other areas that have that awful weather and tornados. WE are overcast again this morning but I will beleive its raining when I actually feel it . |

No rain over the week end. The grass is turning yellow in many places. Ponds are almost empty and now we worry about the levee systems. By air we are not very far from the Mississippi River. This weekend we drove over the river and I was amazed at how high it is. It is close to the top of the levee and we have been receiving warnings about evacuations, where to get sandbags and emergency information. We they open the spill ways we will have high water in our areas. We now watch for alerts everyday. |

No rain. The Bonnet Carre Spillway has been opened and the Morganza Spillway may be opened by Saturday. That will mean flood waters will be very very close to us. Its bad enough we are not that far from the Miss. levee and we are worried about a breech in the levees and now the spillways are opening to spare New Orleans and Baton Rouge. A burn ban has been issued for the parish next to ours because its been so dry. There are more and more cracks in the ground but we certainly don't want them filled with flood waters. What a mess!!!! |

That's it. I put all the plants out to catch the supposed rain we were to get early this morning. Instead I saw on the weather report it moved way north and is raining very heavily over the area's already having problems along the Miss. River. No rain here. I notice some small bayou's that are completely dry with cracked in the ground, grass is really getting yellow in most yards. Ponds are drying uo also. Dirt twisters are everywhere some of the biggest I ever saw. Any breeze (which we have all the time ) is blowing dust along the cane fields and the cane is only about knee high when it should bew almost over 5 feet tall. |

Hot already and I haven't left for work yet. Dust everywhere and my flower bed is gasping for rain. Some people are having problems with cemented objects around their homes. My sister has brick pillars at the edge of her patio and they are tilting as the cement is cracking. Post cemented in the ground for fencing is also cracking and the post are tilting. When I saw all that rain on the radar I was hoping it would reach us. It took over 6 hours for it to travel from Lake Charles area to our area south east of New Orleans ; of course the clouds burst just as I knocked off work.. There was some field and road flooding cause the rain fall was so heavy. I'm sure all that was gone pretty fast when the rain stopped. We certainly can say that the drought is over. Thank goodness. |

Get the boats ready. This fell at my home in a short amount of time. The ditch in front of my home was full and ready to go over. There were areas that I saw on my way home from work where the bayou had come up over some low lying areas on the bayouside of the levee. This amt. of rain fell at my location here at home. At work (Thibodaux )we were almost flooded out. Canal Blvd. runs in (N/S) front of my office and it was truly a canal in the real sense yesterday. Both sides of the Blvd. were flooded in a matter of minutes it seemed. The water was up to the hubcaps on my vehicle in the parking lot. There was a funeral going on across the Blvd. and water got into the cars parked on the shoulder as did the herse parked in front of the church. People walked into knee deep water to get to their cars. When traffic passed on the road the waves came right to the office door and then backed off. This lasted all afternoon yesterday. I could not even leave for lunch. |

Anyone know the name of that man who made a replica of Noah's Arc? My yard is mush now. Weeds are thriving yet you can't cut grass cause of the mush! There was rain all around. Some heavy some light. The clouds were moving all day and was quite interesting. Some dark and rolling, some towering so high up, some just sitting around trying to grow. |

The rain started after darkness fell. The thunder had been rumbling for awhile and then got much much closer. We did not have any strong winds and the thunder and rain was music to sleep by. |
