12/11/2010 12/12/2010 9:00 AM 2 1.68 M M At the place where I set up the station for measuring snow depth, today the readings were 11 inches new snow and 14.5 total, but when I shovelled the driveway the average new snow was at least 15 inches and more with drifts. The wind was so fierce that I believe it was impossible to get a valid reading! The 12 inch rain gauge filled with snow melted to 1.32 inches of actual rain water. It is interesting to note that in order to access my rain gauges I found it much easier to wear snow shoes because the drifting made the snow more than knee deep in our yard!
