2/13/2011 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Last night at about 10:30PM it took both hands with a good grip on the steering wheel of the Honda CRV to keep it in our lane of Hwy 93 southbound from Kalispell. The intermittent gusts would catch us without warning. They were tossing garbage and limbs across the Hwy. We approached a wall of dust about 30" high and when we drove through it realized it wasn't dust it was the wind shearing water off a field or out of a ditch and it hit us with a sound like pellets. There were many small branches down at home but no trees down that we saw. The gusts have continued until about 7:45 AM. They seem to be over now. Our temps were unseasonably high through this event being 50 degrees at 10PM and above freezing this morning.

The water from 5 streams within 1/2 mile is flowing down the road and undercutting the pavement, washing out banks of the stream and the lake into which they flow. Our road will soon be washed out since the volume is greater than what the culverts can handle.We are getting an all day rain today if appears.

We had one clap of thunder and saw no lightning during this welcomed rain event. Puddles formed and rain dripped from everything. Wonderful! About 3PM the sun broke thru and began warming things up.
