Moderate rain in the afternoon, just enough to be annoying. Wind picked up for a bit, then the cold air set in. NO snow yet.... patience. |

Not the storm that was seen in the midwest, we got clipped by the northern edge, but still the water's welcome.
Very humid Wednesday, that's dropping off throughout the night. at 2230 had clear sky, at 2315 the fog was so thick it looked like smoke. An hour later thin fog. Light wind throughout the event. |

light snow flurries, peaks of sun, nothing fun yet as far as "stacking up".
Currently 18°F (-8°C) wind chill 7°F (-14°C),wind NW 9, Dew point 1°F (-17°C), barometer 29.57".
Light snow accumulation sits on grassy surfaces.
Perhaps the 30 % chance of snow this weekend can give more. One can only hope.
Other than that, quite balmy. |

Flurries around 2130, coated the road, melted in short order....Thin clouds.
Eclipse report, from the Metro Keene area.....saw the slightest hint of the moon fading on the East side.... Clouds took over.
That's it.. had to go to http://www.spacevidcast.com/ to actually see it.
I don't think we are going to ge the storm forecast Sunday, as the water vapor imagery is showing jet stream going well south on NH.
One can't pay for a snowstorm here. Well you could pay, but, you won't get it.
Currently, 28°F -2°C, 29.77 on the barometer, wind 18 MPH, gusts to 26. Clouds approaching from the east. |

A line of thunderstorms from Northern NH to the southern Berks of Mass was heading west. Only one break in the line showed on radar. As the line came through the area, the break in the line was from Winchester, NH to Westmoreland, NH 45 miles. We got nothing. Nothing. How depressing!!!!
There was even a severe thunderstorm warning for the home county. |

Not much in the rain fall. West Swanzey got dime size hail around 6:30 PM. Little wind. Plenty of lightning. No damage to report. Cats didn't handle the thunder well, all reported to their hiding places, as is the protocol, as far as cats are concerned. Temp dropped 10° after the storm. Humidity hung in until late night.. Sun's just rising now, 5:45 AM clear sky, 52°. |

Two storm situations. First was at 3:30 AM, lasted 4 hours, 'training effect" on the storms. (.73" rain there)
Second event was an afternoon line of storms. Quick, dramatic, and gone.
As the storm was moving in, the white cloud, below the storm was rolling, (horizontal line of rolling cloud). Could air falling from the center of the storm, warm rising ahead of it, I imagine.
As the rolling deck of cloud was a mile from here, the wind set in, cold air. Temp was 83° before, and 5 minutes later when the rain started 71°. The wind got up to around 50 MPH, (took both hands and my large person to close the back door).... which someone else opened after... Rain was windswept all through the car park in the back. Impressive storm.

Enough with the sun! I've been watching the storms in Michigan, and got a report from Carson City, Mi of 2 inches rain. News in Detroit says up to 7".
Looking at the radar from Albany, NY, we will be lucky to get wet pavement. |

Light precip in through the night. Humidity is on the rise.At least it's not 98°. 66° currently fog's not sure it wants to waste the time and energy coming down the mountains and hills.
We have a new acquired mascot. Batson (D Belfry), typical brown bat, that arrived at 4 AM saturday morning. He's been snoozing on the wall of the breezeway since then. I can't have pets inside my flat, But he's so cute.. Currently Batson's napping (they sleep 19.9 hours a day, typically), and looks to be doing well, as there are plenty of swarming bugs around the lights he can munch on whilest I type foolish things about bats. I post this just in case anyone needs to know of his well-being. |

Nice sunny day. Annoying quake arrived just before 2PM. I was napping at the time. Felt like being in a raft on rippling water. |

2 storm sessions. First was 9PM (0.20") second, around 4:30 AM.(0.80") Second lightning show was MUCH more impressive. More expected today to late day into Tuesday. I can only imagine the snowfall this winter.
Tropical storm of last week has no comparison to the summer storms.
City of Keene, had flooding, and more is expected later.
Reporting station is behind 'turkey hill, but the water decides to flood the end of the road. Happy storm day. |

The rain event was between 2:30 PM and 1:30 AM (Friday- Saturday). Not heavy as such, but moderate and steady. Looking at water vapor imagery, the upper level low is headed southwest from Illinous. It looks like Texas might finally be getting rain. http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/ecwv.html
(edit: daily precip initially recorded as 1.40". MDR will be recorded as this report is deleted. observer contacted. P.G.) |
