Temp range 71/51. Wednesday featured CAVU conditions all day...incredibly deep blue skies, visibility 100 miles.
Winds generally light out of SW. Very dry air stream entrainment due to big storm over western Ontario. RH values dropped to 30% by mid afternoon. By 18:30, the first signs of distant mid level clouds appeared W to NW of station. Overnight, one patch with shower made it through. Then skies cleared out after 2am. Daytime today dawned bright and sunny...but the main cloud shield (not a fragment) swooped in from the west,
and skies now solid overcast at 09:30 deadline time, with a temp of 57. |

On and off showers for the last day of November. Overcast skies, but higher clouds visible with sun dimly visible in early afternoon as we broke into warm sector.
Brisk SE winds gusting to 25 knts. Starting after 15:00, steadier rains returned...but light. Consistent rains continued into the night while temps continued to slowly rise. Max temp of 57.9 occurred after 02:00 and maintained their lofty levels up through at least 02:50 when this observer was up to verify temp. Cold fropa occurred shortly later, and was 44 degrees by 05:45. Heaviest rains seemed to occur following fropa...a case study of an 'anafront.'

Moderate rain began to change over to wet snow at 09:40,

Snow, moderate to briefly heavy at times Sunday evening with strong lake effect snow band drifting south from northern Monroe County. Lake Huron connection enhanced this snow event. Snow was measured at 18:00 and then again at 24:00 Sunday night.
WNW to NW wind did cause some blowing of snow off roofs and trees, but overall, not much drifting seen.
Melted H2O equiv values might be on low side, given the amount of snow that fell. Calender day snowfall was higher than 5.5, probably 6.7" for storm total, midnight to midnight. Snow depth as indicated made at numerous locations, seems pretty consistent at 7". |

Temp range 38/22. Clouds early Tuesday gave way to mostly sunny skies by later morning, then back to increasing low-mid clouds in PM. Alberta clipper was crossing the Toronto-Kingston corridor, placing us in a warm sector of sorts. After 14:30, solid overcast with significant darkening, and flakes became observed by 15:30. Temps above freezing at that point, around 33-34, so whatever fell melted in the beginning. Intensities of snow picked up rapidly after 16:00 and continued that way till past 18:30 when it let up. Most of night snow-free, but another round did fall sometime during the night, getting the combined snow total to 2.6". Little wind observed during the event, and snow catch exposure on wooden board was excellent. Driveway and sidewalk had to be shoveled. Was light and fluffy...tho first few hours the snow was heavy and clung to every tree branch in creation. At obs, 24 deg and partly sunny...patchy Ac clouds. WNW breeze at 10knts. |

Coldest 24H period for this winter. Temp range 21/-8.
Intervals of sun and Sunday morning flurries. Afternoon was mainly sunny, but LES cloud band seen to north of Webster on a trip there. Sunday night, Sc lake clouds linger with stiff WNW breeze. A dying LES snow band arrives towards midnight, giving us another .2" of fluff. After that band moved away, no wind noted and bright moonlet sky on shining on snowpack, as temps start to plummet. Temps were +8 with S- at midnight. But by 01:30, temps were down to +3. By 0748, patchy Sc and -7.6. Pittsford station just west of here by 2 miles had -9. Honeoye Falls had -10. Official airport reading -6 on 0800 obs. Statewide, -27 at SLK. Sunday also featured CAA for much of the day, with temps steadily falling from low 20s to 18 by 15:00, and 11 by 19:30. But the big drop in temps finally occurred with the passage of the final LES band...and a strong ridge of CA high pressure sailing right over us after 01:00. Nice recovery expected today...to the low 20s..then temps expected to rise tonight with approaching midwest low and SE winds. |

Temp range 45/27. Second warmest day of the month, and the first real thaw since January 1st. Tuesday featured some partial clearing with intervals of sunshine. Gentle S breezes, a downsloping breeze at that, helped boost the mercury. After 18:00, light rain returned in advance of cold front. Temps dropped slowly, 34 noted around midnight. A changeover to light snowshowers by dawn. At obs, low overcast, gentle N breeze, 27. Snowpack down a bit and roof of homes visible except for new sugar coating. |

Temp range 27/13. Overcast skies all day, with a light N breeze. Light snow quit by mid to late morning. In the evening, cloud deck started to thin out. Temps remained near 26-27 during daytime hours, then were near 24 in the evening hours. After 00:30, skies cleared, allowing for temps to hit a 12.8 degree low. Today, thru 09:00...bright sunshine, no breeze, beautiful winter day in progress, as high pressure bubble moves over region. |

Temp range 27/20. Thursday morning sun ended abruptly by 11:00 with the arrival of SC clouds and light snowshowers,courtesy of the Lake Erie band. On and off SW
through the PM, but no accumulation. Then, after 19:00, synoptic snows arrive courtesy of Ohio Valley wave. Ended after 23:00, but precise time not noted.
Flakes were small for that event, but roads became slick very fast with closely packed small flakes. DW was plowed at 05:35, despite snow event not meeting plow criteria for contractor. Town also plowed shortly thereafter. At obs time, sun and patchy thin Sc clouds, a bit hazy as well. Temps near 22. Meltdown is an ESTIMATE, no raingauge out during event. |

Temp range 22/12. Strong and gusty W winds Friday, with the passage of cyclone to our north over southern Ontario. High winds gusting to 35 knts, along with a mix of sun and clouds. Temp range 20/09. A mix of sun and clouds for most of Saturday. Late in day, high clouds overspread our skies,
which thickened after nightfall. Light snow arrived after 23:00, but very light. Intensity picked up overnight, as re-enforcing shot of cA air arrives. This cold lobe of Arctic air will make this the coldest period of winter, thus far. Light NNE winds noted at obs time. Meltdown amount is ESTIMATED; snow measurement is actual. Intervals of sun and lake-effect snow during Sunday daytime. Final squalls around 15:30, then gradual clearing. Temps dropped below zero F at 18:30, rising above zero at 09:05 today. There were two low temp times overnight. First one occurred before 24:00, with a min to -9.5. Then temps rise to -2 with some low level clouds after midnight. At 06:00, skies began to clear again with a -5 temp. It bottomed out to -11 (-10.5)at 08:10. Some stations south and southeast of here reached -15 F, such as in Canandaigua airport. |

Temp range 30/21. Overcast w/ sun dimly visible at times Saturday. Clipper system brought 0.2 during daytime hours. Clearing noted with partial sun returning after 15:45, as high cloud shield retreated. However, low clouds returned, with lake flurries Saturday evening. A new burst of light snow returned Sunday morning after 07:30, with another .3 noted by obs time at 09:10. Maximum temps trending colder than previous days...never getting above freezing Saturday.

Temp range 21/18. Overcast skies, mainly mid-level clouds with lower level Sc showing up in the afternoon. Surface winds light but steady, out of the E to ENE at 10knots or less. Snow arrived at about 22:30 and continued through the night, but ended as some light sleet and freezing rain...then completely quit by dawn. Snow accumulations way lower than forecasted...a big bust for area tv forecasters. More snow will develop later today in the wake of the departing surface cyclone...that passes over WNY later this morning. |

But by afternoon, mid-high cloud deck had arrived, beneath the lower layer sc deck that was dissolving. Sunday night into Monday morning, temps rose to a max of 47 by 05:30. Temp range 55/23. The warmest temperatures for the year since New Year's Day. The day featured increasing WSW winds which got much stronger later in the day and into Friday night...gusts frequently to 40 and 45 knots. Azure blue skies with virtually no clouds to be seen during the day. After 22:00, Sc cloud deck visible north of station. Skies clouded over after midnight, and snowshowers broke out prior to dawn. At obs, moderate snow falling, visiblilities down to half to 3/4 mile in snow. WNW winds are already diminishing, but temps now in lower 20s. Old snowpack GONE on many lawns...the high winds from Friday combined with high winds and very low afternoon humidities...25-28%...just ate the snowpack. Many piles still exist and average snowpack likely down to a couple of inches at most. New snow on ground 1" with grass blades visible. The mid-February thaw was spectacular and a welcome break from this relentless winter. |

Temp range 41/30. Thursday featured overcast skies and a rapid temp warmup. Very light WNW breeze that gradually veered to the N and NE by late in day. Overnight, temps near 32 with snow breaking out sometime after 5am. As of 8am obs, 2" on ground, and snowflakes very small and stinging upon impact on observer's face. Wind from N picking up towards this time...up to 15-20 knts, with some blowing snow seen coming off trees. Snowfall appears to be a 10:1 ratio, so not as fluffy as previous recent snow events. |

Temp range 54/43. Much cooler wx returns to the district following the 'heat blast'of Monday. Skies were variable, with morning mid-high overcast deck retreating to the S and SE by mid-day. Skies were mainly sunny during the first half of the afternoon. After 15:30, mid-level Ac deck quickly surged northbound. Towards evening, As/Cs deck parted near the WNW horizon to allow a spectacular view of sunset at Woodcliff Conference Center, at precisely 18:50 EST
(19:50 EDT). Following sunddown, skies clouded over again with NE breezes continuing. Rain arrived after 01:45, with backyard puddles noted on the grass. At obs at 06:40 EST (07:40 EDT), light rain and 43 deg.

Temp range 66/38. A brief visit again from the 'warm sector,' as temps rose to a midday high of 66. Cold fropa occurred shortly after 13:15. Light to moderate rain showers at that time, but then it quickly ended. Winds increased notably following fropa. Clouds parted briefly to allow some sushine, before cold air Sc clouds took over. These clouds then stubbornly stayed in place through the end of the day and into the night.

A line of thunderstorms and rain showers arrived just
before midnight. Shortly before 03:00, a strong cell moved over us...producing hail, though this observer was unable to see the size of them due to darkness and the short duration, less than 2 minutes of the hail.
Morning wx at obs, sct low clouds and high clouds, but the airmass remains humid, despite passage of 1st cold front or trof-line. Yesterday was characterized by morning and midday clouds with the warm front, then latter day sunshine and clear into the evening past 22:00. Lightning flash were seen refracted over the horizon after 22:00 due to the distant line of TRW, that was at that time entering the US from the Canadian side. High temp of 81. Low near 60. |
