This system has thus far brought a total of 4.20" to us here. Our creek and pond overflowed last night and our sump pump is working overtime in the basement and is doing its job. The rain has tapered off to a drizzle at this hour and is estimated to end by 8 a.m. Obviously, periods of very heavy rain fell yesterday. Thank God this wasn't SNOW! |

Lake effect snow is still falling from this same system which has closed schools in the area, some for their third day in a row. Here at home, the thin bands find us every so often, but for the most part, we once again are dodging the snowfall bullet. Wind is still hampering the accuracy of measurements of snow, particularly that of the total snow on ground. As a fellow CoCoRaH friend said to me yesterday while visiting, "You weren't just whistling Dixie when you said that the wind blows here......" |

All models of radar that I have seen this morning suggest that it is raining here, but we have received nothing. The rain gauge doesn't lie, nor does my trex decking, which highlights every drop. What we DO have here is wind, and lots of it. A fairly steady 20mph wind, gusting to E27. Our snow is melting at a fairly fast clip. We went for a ride to Cato in Cayuga County yesterday- Syracuse, Baldwinsville, Cato- they all have a LOT more snow than we. |

2.7" of new snowfall (.34" melted) represented the first round of snow which fell on Feb.1 daytime; the remaining 5.5" (.83" melted) was from snow/sleet storm which began on Feb 2nd after midnight.
The weight of the snow and sleet mixture has really packed down the snow that we have on the ground, plus the wind (E26 G35) has made measuring Total Snow and Ice extremely difficult. This recorded total was taken by taking the average of numerous measurements.

Yesterday's precipitation consisted of a snow/sleet/freezing rain mixture. The storm system that was pronounced by our area meteorologists to be the storm of the century ended up fizzling due to a lofty warm air mass which cut down on the snow total. We tallied about ten inches of snow and ice from the system. |

Oneida Lake remains closed to boat traffic. Water is still approximately two feet above normal, beaches are eroded. Bad time for this to happen: pike season opens this weekend. |

A strong storm came through at approximately 4:00 yesterday afternoon- this is a guessed time, as I wasn't home. Toppled over about a quarter of our corn, but otherwise, everything is ok. It was reported that there was hail with this system; however, we did not have any hail. Another short burst of rain came through at 1am. There certainly is a lot of moisture and activity in the atmosphere at the present time. |

Heavy rainfall during the nighttime hours. Sump pump is running in the basement, but so far, the creek and ponds are staying within their banks. |

To whomever invented the sump pump (Mr. Sump????), I bow down to thee. Our yard is thoroughly saturated, with puddles abounding. |
