0526hrs- Extremely heavy fog this morning throughout the region. In my morning travels South to Geneva NY and back home through Waterloo NY and back home it was extremely foggy. Although, depending on the elevation in those areas, the fog was not present or it was up off thee ground. Otherwise lower elevations were very massive. In the lower elevations the visability was anywhere from a half mile to a mile. There was also a T of frost build up on the ground. T was also on the SB...I also had observed a small drizzle yesterday afternoon. It lasted only abt a minute or two.

It was wild. I had 3 cameras running. The lightening show was awesome. 1 bolt of streak lightening struck the water tower East of this location. It all started at 10:10pm lastnight until about 7:10am this morning. All the rain was intermitten. All video footage is on file here. The current temp is 48. Wind is light at 4 mph gusting to 7 mph from the N.
As of 4:29pm - my travels today my observations in and around Newark, Lyons and the hamlin of Clyde, NY I have observed much flooding along the inlet in Lyons, NY and Alloway, NY. Tomorrow photos will be taken of this flooding and will be on file. Currently my area is under a High Wind Advisory and presently thee windd is 13mph gusting to 20mph from the SE. |

Temp is 39 and overnight there was light scattered frost. Clear skies.
Also, in my observation's yesterday during my travels on W. River Road in the Town of Marengo, just outsside of Clyde, NY; I have noticed that many people in the countryside are trying to make bigger yards,bigger feilds, by taking live trees out. I have seen many huge piles of brush, trees, that were ripped up with dozers. But I don't see any trees or seedlings planted in place of the ones that have been ripped up. With that, we're going to see much more soil errosion then normal. We all should do our part by replacing seedlings . Where is the wildlife going to call home, if the woodlands get torn up? As they are...no where. pretty soon, the wildlifee will have to go under ground. What a place to reside...not me. Thanks. |

At 5:05am this morning there was a very breif precip and lasting abt a minute and with measurable amt. Current temp is 48 with the winds at 3 mph gusting to 6 from the N. I have noticed yesterday that the ground was drying up, but is apparently going to take some time for that. 1724hrs- checking the measurment in the rain gauge of .04" after the rain shower that I had this afternoon around 1400hrs.( per my neighbor)lasting abt 10 minutes.
And watching a cardinal spinning around on the station anemometer . ( it was extremely funny to watch. ) the bird spinning about. Laughed so hard I fell out of the chair. 0539hrs - No overnight rain, kind of chilly though. Overnight temp was 36 at 0532hrs. Winds gusting to 1 mpg from the W. The sun rise is a bit odd, with strips of light pink, mixed w/ reds and a tint of blue.

Flooding has receded in areas I have been monitoring., presently there is nothing to report on that front.
Although, I have observed much land erosion where people along with farmers are trying to strip away the hedge rows and trying to make their feilds bigger and the pasture land is shrinking.
Where is the balance?
Eco wise, where are the seedlings that are being planted in replace all the trees that are being cut down, for what? In my travels recently I have observed many logs near the roadways, in different locations. And my concern is are those trees actually being replaced or not?
We all need to do our part in the eco system. Recycle, replenish what we take from mother nature. |

Thunder started at 1630hrs and just 5 minutes later, it started raining w/ more thunder, no lightning yet.
1727hrs- rain came down hard.
At 1822hrs, precip accum so far was 1.05" w/ light drizzle. This morning during the morning CHK, the precip accum was 1.08" The inner tube over flowed into the main tube. Wild ! This morning storm was awesome and there was plent of CG lightening w/ this thunder storm.A streak of lightening had struck my service box knocking out the phone for a few minutes.Although I have captured some lightening video and is on file.But it was wild.

Precip was from light to heavy causing FF, localized.During this period, National WX Service issued a FF warning then after the issuance of the STWarning..Early this morning the fog started rolling in abt 5:04am and it is actually getting heavier to the GRD.Also during all the most recent precip from yesterday and OVN no lightninng was observed.Although I did observe some rumbles of thunder but not much.
During yesterday and overnight the flooding was localized to some roadways,underpasses,creeks and streams.
