30-An earthquake was reported near Indianapolis. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred at 7:55 AM, about 50 miles NNE of Indianapolis. The preliminary magnitude is 3.8. I was at the computer when I heard the door creaking as if it was openning in the kitchen, as well as feeling a vibration as if someone was walking through the room. However, nobody was there and the thought of an earthquake did occur to me but I became distracted and didn't think about it again until I saw 30 minutes later that there had been an earthquake. Light rain continuing off and on most of the morning. Becoming partly cloudy, much warmer in PM with all but scattered snow piles melted by evening obs.

Very nice day after an incredible start. The rain of 4.16 inches at my Cheviot 0.9 SSE location was by far the greatest 24 hour total of 2011 and one of the highest 24 hour totals I have recorded since 1975. Storm total: 4.16
