Duke, an 8 month old rescued mixed Boxer, experienced his first iced over sidewalk and fell twice before he went 5 feet after leaving the front porch. He quickly got the hang of it and was able to make his rounds. Willy, the two year old rescued mixed German Shepherd, had no difficulties. I retrieved the large cylinder of the rain gauge at the usual time and replaced it with my dry spare, which I use during periods of snow, ice and freezing rain. The gauge was heavily iced inside and out & took a while to thaw. The reading was as noted in the report.

Not snowing at 7:00 AM, but light snow flurries were coming down when I filed the report. From our location on the side of the Cumberland Plateau there is a beautiful view of the snow covered Sequatchie Valley below and Walden's Ridge across the valley. Took a core reading of precipitation off of my snow board a few minutes before 9:00 AM and am reporting 0.04 in this amended report. However, there was frozen precipitation on the snow board so I think the 0.06 reading of what was in the gauge at 7:00 AM is a more credible indicator of the actual precipitation.

The first began about 12:30 PM CDT and was accompanied by alot thunder and lightning, but only a couple 100ths of precipitation. The second brought heavy showers and began around 4:00 PM. I checked the gauge after the rain stopped and saw that 0.62 had fallen at this point in the 24 hour reporting period. The third phase began about 5:00 PM with strong winds and intense rainfall. We quickly lost power in this storm and I went to bed. I awoke around midnight anmd the power had been restored. I thought I heard light rain hitting the metal roof during the remainder of the night but I can't say for sure.

I looked at the NWS radar in the midst of the downpour and saw that a small but intense thunderstorm was sitting on extrme northern Bledsoe county. TN-BL-6 should report a lot of rain too. If there was a station in the Luminary/Spring City area they probably would have recorded even more than I did. I emptied the gauge at about 3:00 PM and recorded 1.58 inches. Another 0.01 was in the gauge this morning at 7:00 AM. The ground is now totally saturated.
