Accumulation varied widely depending on what surface it fell on. Snowboard received 1.25-1.75" but maximum accumulation was 2.1" on the stone wall. I know the melted ratio looks very wacky but that is exactly what it measured in three places: in the gauge, in a core sample from the grass--where depth was 1"--,and in a core sample from the stone wall--where depth was 2". Strawberry River is still brim full but pretty much in its banks. (Road open as of this morning (and I think last night already).)

According to neighbor and comparing to my home weather station temperature, rain mixed with or changed to snow around 3am. When he went duck hunting at around 4am, road was white and heavily falling snow made driving difficult. He estimated snow depth at 1" then. Snow changed back to rain around 4:30am and by 5:30am the roads were clear. By morning all that was left was a little slush.

Used a capped 4" pipe for a gauge and put the CoCoRaHS funnel on top to make sure it was the right size. When I returned the gauge read 4.40". However my electronic gauge showed 5.47". Given temperatures over 110 degrees and humidity as low as 12% this summer I expect the electronic gauge is much more accurate. P. S. In testing my electronic gauge from Aug. 30 through October 16, it showed between 11.7% and 13.8% too low. By averaging everything together it comes out to 6.17" (+/- 0.06").

2/29/2012 6:47 AM I already reported this event as a spotter. Hail started 6:47am about 2 minutes after rain. Biggest hail fell 6:53-6:54am. Mostly marble sized but several 3/4" to 1". Found 2 that measured 1.5". Bigger ones were not spheres but discs about 3/8" thick. 1.5" hailstone was really about 1 1/8" with spike on the side that brought largest dimension to 1.5". 9/26/2012 5:15 PM Strong thunderstorm 5:14-5:24pm. Highest winds: 5:15-5:16pm. Anemometer recorded gust to 32mph measuring only every 11 seconds. I estimate max gust 40-45mph: downed a 4" maple that was half rotten. Didn't even catch on to the hail until it was past. Largest I measured was 3/8" but some melting already occurred.
