Since I had left funnel in, I can state categorically that it must have started as snow right away, since no water was at the bottom of funnel. To the best of estimate, 1"+h snowfall rates lasted from just before 8pm on Thursday through the night until about noon yesterday (peak about 3"/h in early morning hours), and again from about 5pm until 11pm or so last evening (the 40:1 fluff finale). In 2006-07, a similar run lasted from December 21st to March 20th, six days longer, but with more moisture content in those late December storms. Very similar lack of snow and warm temperatures from early-to-mid March that year. I am hopeful that we will get some snow early next week, but it does not look like a 'dump' anymore. |

Tmax: 57; Tmin: 40. Nice one! Had almost given up on this one, but received 0.61" between about 7pm and 1am MDT, and another 0.20" this morning before 7am (still raining steadily at 7am). Temperature down to about 40F this morning, so too warm for snow. |

Tmax: 48; Tmin: 33 (even around 3:40pm MDT, with thunderstorm). A couple of storms seemed to have focused right on our neighborhood, including a good amount of small (<1/8") hail that survived the night, possibly with some graupel and snow thrown in (neighbor's temperature trace showed around 36-37F during 3pm storm). Frost on roofs this morning. We have now exceeded our normal September precipitation (yeah!). |
