Our site is a southern exposure, however, our horizon to the south is a shoulder or ridge leading to a mountain and this time of year the arc of the sun is similar to the ridgeline. The result this time of year is: we suddenly lose several hours of sun-time. which today, on a clear day, will be approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes. The higher temps have a very short duration and actual "heating degree days" are skewed toward the lower temps. |

We have had exceptional, and much appreciated, change this summer, to date. We live directly above the Bull River with extensive spring/early summer wetlands (marsh area) and we usually have an abundance standing water and mosquitoes, starting about June 15 and continuing into the first week of August and use headnets for about 2 weeks. So far this summer we have not had mosquitoes during the day and may have a few in dense vegetation at dusk. This is the first time we have experienced, at our house site, this almost total absence of mosquitoes in the 43 years we have owned the property. |

Great cloud display 5:00 PM to 5:15 PM: cumulus, cumulus orographic shooting out, or spawning cumulus lenticularus; cirrus, cirrus uncinus and cirro stratus all in the sky simultaneously, approaching from opposing quadrants (S and WSW) and converging to the east. It was like a planned cloud display 3 to 5 miles south of this site (MT-SN-3). No camera - Arrrhg. |
