Saturday I attended the new movie called "Tornado Alley". It is a I-Max 3D version of the TV series on the Discovery channel called "Storm Chasers" on Sunday nights. It was outstanding. The crew brought the Tornado Intercept Vehicle or TIV for display. The movie & TIV tour was fantastic especially to those of us who chase severe storms every year. If this event comes near your town, by all means check it out !! |

We here in North Carolina just had the one year anniversary of the April 16, 2011 tornado outbreak. I pulled up the NWS official event summary of this tornado outbreak updated on Feb 3, 2012. At the back of the report under section "Lessons Learned and Final Thoughts", 8 paragraphs down the page, COCORAHS was mentioned several times giving "extremely important" weather reports. They also praised SKYWARN spotters. Get a copy & read. |

We had the back side of a passing cold front yesterday afternoon & it gave us some much needed rainfall. The more it rains between now & July, the larger my Italian Figs will grow. The winter was very mild which will add to their health & growth. The nearby Tar River Reservoir is at full pool now so this will help during upcoming dry periods. LET IT RAIN, LET IT RAIN, LET IT RAIN!!!!! |

I am a member of Civil Air Patrol & at last night's emergency services meeting we discussed ways our members can get involved doing various tasks outside of our mandated search & rescue missions by the US Air Force. One of these new opportunities is getting involved in COCORAHS. The idea was well received & I will be working on a statewide plan to introduce COCORAHS to our 1,500 members in North Carolina.
