The cool, cloudy and wet soils persisted from Pioche to Tonopah on my trip back to Reno today. North of Tonopah it became increasingly hotter and dryer.

7/17/2012 7:00 AM 1.35 M M M M I was in Reno when this happened, but my brother-in-law, who lives next door and is an experienced weather observer, took the readings and made the following observations. "Yesterday we had 1.35" in about an hour. Started about 5:45, hailed and rained hard. At one time the rain was coming down at a rate of 8"/hr. The hail was like pure ice, really hard sounded like rocks hitting the top of my truck." He didn't tell me the size of the hail stones, the depth or the duration, so I will try and get those observations from him later.
