The first freeze of the season (low of 30 degrees F, along with heavy frost) finally occurred overnight, AFTER the snow ended. The lowest temperature during the rain/snow event was 34 degrees F. Almost all of the snow accumulated (on Oct. 29) between 6 and 11 am, which is also when full-leaved deciduous limbs (e.g. oak, maple) were frequently heard popping, breaking, and falling in the nearby woods. Snow ended before 5 pm, and precipitation ended shortly before 6 pm as a few sprinkles of rain.

Rain, gusty winds, thunder, and lightning lingered for quite a while after the worst of the storm passed to the east. There were several brief power outages and brown-outs associated with the storm, and several small tree branches were scattered about the yard.

Duke St.) between the Potomac River bridge and Rt. 45 (German Street).
