I have no idea what the snow depth is other than a wild guess, there are some larger drifts about 2 feet deep and some places where there is about 2 inches. That is about normal for 6 inches of snow. That could very well be underestimated but I will go with it for now, I may adjust it after it gets light and I get a better look. It is blowing and snowing lightly now.

My best guess is 4 inches of new snow although as usual it is only a guess with the way te wind piles it up. It is too nasty to go to the gauge but I suspect there is nothing in there as usual. I still had the old drifts that were fron about 6 inches to 2 or 3 feet. This storm was from a totally different direction so until it gets light out I won't know where the drifts are and how big. It sure looks like it will be a white Christmas.
12/23/2011 6:00 AM T T M 3.0 M There was a short snow flurry yesterday morning after my report. I have drifts from 6 inches to 2-3 feet still. The new snow seems to have settled some. So far the high winds have avoided this area so there is no additional drifting.

Total snow does not include the remaining drifts from the past. These are from 6 inches to 2-3 feet and are not going away very fast. A white Christmas this year. The wind was 50 MPH most of the day, and still is, so most of the new snow moved elsewhere. The ground is still mostly covered with some snow and the drifts are not very large which leads to the conclusion that about 1 inch fell.

Looking out there in the dark windy cold I see snow but not a lot. The drift across the north side of the house looks like it is about 18 inches deep. That translates to about 4 inches of new snow. It has never at least during the times I was looking been snowing heavy. I was able to see many of the neighbors lights most of the time. Right now there is light snowfall and about a 30 mph wind.

2/21/2012 6:00 AM T T M 4.0 M There was some light snow yesterday morning but it was impossible to determine how much with the snow that was blowing. There was wind probably approaching 70 mph yesterday and at times I was unable to see the vehicles stuck on the county road 100 feet away. The wind isn't as bad so far this morning but with another high wind warning I expect it will be bad again.
