Warm sunny day with increasing clouds late afternoon. High upper 70s. Then things got interesting with increasing evening winds and even some lightning and brief rain squalls Very strong winds after 8PM and especially around 10 PM --must have gusted to at least 55 mph. Not much damage, but leaves swirled everywhere and we were without electricity until sometime this morning. Westerly winds continued all night with temperature staying around 50F |

Overcast with light sprinkles beginning around 10:30 AM and then turning to snow pellets after 11 AM. High temp about 41F around 10 AM and then winds picked up from the NNE. Snow pellets came down hard at first with ground white before noon. Then let up only to begin again as a moderate snow with large wet flakes early afternoon around 2 PM. Hard to estimate accumulation since it would accumulate and them partially melt and then accumulate some more. Never had more than about 0.5" on the ground at a time. Snow ended after 7 PM. and temperature dropped to mid 20s. Some icy roads but they dried off overnight. Low 17F with a stiff SE wind blowing |

Snow much of the morning, but most accumulation fell from 7:20 to 8:20 AM Snow depth was 0.7" then but while it kept snowing and began blowing quite a bit, there was no further accumulation and by noon bare ground was showing again. Snow ended by noon. Stiff northerly winds are remained cloudy and threatening, but no more snow. By 5PM the sun peaked out. High upper 30s. northerly winds continued overnight, gusty at times Low 20s. What a disappointing storm -- the ground is already bare and dry again. |

Then rapid temperature drop late afternoon (about 15 degrees in 30 minutes) and clouds rapidly thickened and lowered with wet snow beginning by 7 PM. Low 25F Snow accumulation ranged from only 2" on the ground (warmer surface) to at least 3" on elevated surfaces. Trees all coated in beautiful snow this AM |

What looked to be a wonderful springlike warm day become quite a monster. Temperatures warmed to mid 70s with dry strong NW winds, but a wildfire just west of Horsetooth Reservoir stole the day by erupting midday and spreading rapidly to burn over a square mile of brush and timber. We could see vivid flames and smoke until at least midnight when things finally calmed down and humidity rose. No smoke from the fire came our direction. Still smoke visible this AM but fire appears controlled. Low upper 30s. |

Storm clouds gathered over the crest of the mountains to our west and then periodically sent afternoon squalls with sprinkles and a few snow pellets, esp around 1:30 ON and 4:30 PM. Cloudy, cold, fairly light winds and snow all day. Heavy on Monday from 7 - 11 AM (3.9") then light from 11 - 6 AM with 1.4" additional but high water content. Another 1.2" by 11 PM and then high intensity low-density snow again for a few hours with an additional 4.3". Would have had more snow reported if I cleared snowboard --- but I did not. Some light freezing drizzle coated top of snow this AM. Snow depth ranged from 9 to 13" depending on type of surface -- most on grass and less on bare soil. Two snow board cores 0.87" and 0.95" so averaged to 0.91" -- snow came nearly straight down so gauge catches were just fine. Total core was exactly 1.00" Some melting occurring at bottom of snowpack. This moisture will be great. Still getting very light snow -- small, heavily rimed crystals |

Dense low clouds and periods of very light snow and snow grains much of the day -- but heavier for a few hours during the evening. High 32F Small heavily rimed crystals had plenty of water content. Then a fairly thick (nearly 1/10" coating of glaze from freezing drizzle overnight -- I can't tell colors, but the glaze is brownish dirty and the snow is no longer beautifully white. Even though new snow accumulated, the total depth decreased since yesterday -- continues to compact and some melting at ground level. A little more wind yesterday (from SE)- E) may explain why snowboard core measurements somewhat higher than gauge (average of two)/ Only took one total SWE. Two full inches of hot water still barely melted it. Still cloudy with low 27F this AM. Light winds and light snow grains continuing to fall. Main road was plowed and is just wet, but during heavier dense snow last night it was treacherous. |

Wow -- cold winter wonderland again!! Yesterday dawned sunny and temperature rose to about 40F after 8 AM but then cold front quickly arrived with brisk, NE winds and temperatures back into the 30s. Variable intensity with about 2.5" by 7:30 PM. Another 1" by 11 PM and remained came overnight -- snowing fairly hard from 5 - 6:30 AM and then diminished. Still snowing very, very lightly Ground gauge 0.49", post-gauge 0.51" snowboard SWE 0.50" and SWE from ground sample 0.53" -- snow depth this morning greater on elevated flat surfaces and less on the ground stuck on all branches -- beautiful. All snow overnight and still snowing moderately this AM. Snow depths varying from just over 8" on elevated surfaces to less than 7" on bare ground (and less under trees since tree branches caught a lot of this wet snow. Some brief power flickers, but no prolonged outages. Very thankful trees had not leafed out yet. They were getting very close after the warm weekend.
Snowboard SWE greater than ground SWE -- most likely board holding liquid water from initial rain and very wet snow last evening. |

Cloudy, cold but fairly light winds.. Snow continued nearly all day -- moderate at times. Became gloriously large low density dendritic conglomerates during the afternoon before finally ending after 8 PM. Snow settled as it fell with warm ground beneath and roads remained melted except in residential areas. Clearing during the evening. Low around 16 F before sunrise. Probably one of the coldest May mornings in Fort Collins history. |

Sunny. Interesting line of cumulus midday distant east. Based on satellite, it looked like sea breeze convergence on the boundary between bare ground and snowcover. Snow melted all day and then iced up again overnight. Bare patches showing already but about 90% of ground still snow covered. High low 40s yesterday afternoon. Low 23F before sunrise with heavy frost, then warming quickly. |

Very hot dry, sunny and windy day. High upper 90s. Stayed in the 80s all evening as storms developed down near Denver in the evening. Sunny and hot morning through early afternoon with nigh near 90F Then convection began midday over the mountains. Little cloud movement but after 2 PM storms began developing nearby. Very lively afternoon of nearby storms with maybe 2 hours of cloud to ground lightning gradually diminishing after 5 PM Very dark after 3 PM -- almost like dusk. Then periods of rain through the evening until about midnight. Remained cloudy with low lower 60s and nice and humid. I have two gauges and they read quite differently 0.47" and 0.55" -- usually much more similar. I'll take the average |

Sunny morning with some mid scattered mid clouds and cumulus forming over foothills by late morning. Humid with dew points near or just above 60F. High temp 85F midday. Then convection erupted during the afternoon -- first to our W and SW (got a few early afternoon sprinkles and some distant thunder) but then a huge storm developed to our NW and expanded eastward and southward. A guest front our of the NNE arrived around 3 PM cooling temps into the 70s but kicking off a new T-Storm almost overhead but just to our SE -- racing and swirling low clouds and cold gusts (temp dropped into the 60s with NE winds probably near 35 mph) and nearly constant but distant thunder from about 3:30 PM to 4:15 PM or so -- but just a tiny trace of a few scant cold tiny rain drops. Then the complex gradually moved S and E away from us. Cool rest of the day with winds out of the east and then the south. Got many stories of hail and flooding from this storm. Clearing during the evening with low in the 50s -- very pleasant for early Aug. |

Ground gauge read 0.88" and post mounted gauge 0.86" so I'll call it 0.87" not sure why they are always different as there was very little wind affecting gauge catch during this period. |

Drizzle and low clouds from 7 - 8 AM accumulated another 0.03" Then gradual clearing by mid morning and blue sky patches becoming mostly sunny by afternoon. We could hear the National Guard rescue helicopters from the CSU foothills campus all day. A few convective buildups to our north in the late afternoon. Grass now gloriously green. The irrigation ditch through our property is now back to being very low after several days of being nearly full to the top. High 70s, low in the low 50s with heavy dew this AM |
