Woke up to grey clouds, no sun, at 7am; it was 42 degrees. It started to rain about 3 or 4pm. Well after dark it froze; and at 11pm I went out and it had snowed 3". The next morning at 7am, I found another 3" of snow. There was a very thin soft layer of ice; I thought it would be thicker, with all the rain we had. It was no longer snowing, and was bright out. |

At 9am it was 42 degrees. At 10am it dropped to 37 degrees and begin to snow, pretty heavy, with light accumulation. By 12:30 it had stopped snowing and there was a light layer, little less than one inch. There was a thick fog forming, and slowing covering everything, so you could barely see maybe 20 feet. It was 34 degrees. |

In the morning I could smell or feel the rain coming, like on a summer day. The air just seemed heavy or wet. It was a sunny day, and no storm clouds. The snow began at about 5 a.m. (I went out at 4 a.m. and no snow!) By 7 a.m. it was almost 5 inches deep. When I went out close to 10 a.m., there was 3.5 inches on the deck and 5.5 inches on the ground. The deck was very wet under the snow, but the snow itself was not wet/heavy but pretty light. Same on deck as on gravel driveway. It snowed all morning, but it didn't seem to accumulate. After I shoveled the porch,(done about 11 a.m.) it was immediately covered by a light layer of snow (1/3" maybe) and then would melt. The flakes were pretty small but lots of them. The temp at 11 a.m. was 33 degrees, but I will carry that over to my next report tomorrow morning.(stopped at 4 pm) |

It snowed all day, fairly heavy, but small snowflakes. I don't know why there was such a small amount of liquid in the gauge. I shoveled the snow off the deck in the morning, done about 11am, and immediately it was covered with snow (bout 1/4 inch), then very soon after that it all melted. the whole day, the deck was wet, but no more snow accumulated. The snow that was on the one railing settled down a bit, and was lower by the end of the day. The snow stopped about 4pm. No further snow overnight. It was about 33 degrees all day. The liquid was frozen in the bottom of the gauge this morning. |

It snowed in the evening and again overnight. There was almost 4" on the deck at midnight, and another inch by morning. It was light (in weight) snow. On the ground in the open, it was 5 inches deep, and basically that inside the gauge too. All over the ground, it was either just a fraction above or just below 5" so I averaged it out. On the driveway, there had still been some hard snow in places, so that measured 6 inches for totals. |

Sun came out mid day and it melted the snow. It was cold/crisp but I think it was the sun's effect, as the snow level was visibly shrunk as the afternoon went on. In morning it was sunny again. I put NA in the "new snowfall" box because I do not remember it snowing, and yet I had .1 water in the gauge; that's a lot to not see! I guess snow could have fallen and immediately melted, and I thought it (looked like) was just melting snow on the deck; or maybe it snowed overnight. |

the snow must have evaporated before it hit the ground... it SNOWED ALL DAY!! and yet there was NO precipitation in my gauge or on the ground! At 10:45 am it was 55 degrees and at 2:45 pm it was 47 degrees and it was SNOWING! At times it was so heavy that it blocked my sight of the mountains (about 1/2 - 1 mile away). At 2:45pm it was gloomy, and some hard round flakes fell sparsely on my deck, but soon disappeared. The sun came back out in about an hour. It was mostly "regular" snowflakes. At night, about 11pm it got quite windy for a while. |

I was in Estes at 4:30pm and it was started to snow; it continued for about 10 miles on hwy. 36 SE but once I reached home there was nothing. It started to rain in the evening, and as it got colder, it turned to mush (rain and snow). Puddles covered the deck in the morning, and there was mist in the air, thick enough to partially hide the mountains. It started off at about 34degrees about 10am, and warmed up slightly. At 1:30 pm it started to snow and continued for several hours. It was wet and thick flakes, but airy spaces when accumulating. Around 10 pm I looked outside and it wasn't snowing any more, and there was about 2" of snow. In the morning, I awoke to loud thunks of snow about every 14 to 60 seconds, which I found out to be snow dropping off the trees etc. When I went outside it sounded like loud rain drops, and the deck was covered in splatters of snow hitting the deck. On the railings, the snow was hard and crunchy and had holes in it. As I walked across the deck, it felt mushy (wet snow). The gauge was in a protected area and showed .31. The snow was about 1.25 inches, which means that it had settled from the night before. It was sunny, but there were clouds covering the tops of the mountains (even at 10-10:30am), which I assume was the snow evaporating. |

It snowed most of the day, and was overcast. By 3:30pm there was 2.5 inches of snow, and in the morning, it only showed 3 inches, but I know that it settled bec. it was so light and fluffy. I think it was a high of about 18 degrees. At 1am it was 6 degrees, and by 9:50am it was 40 degrees. It was 3" in some places and 8" in other places, but the most stable places showed a total of 6". Most of day it was bright but overcast. Strong winds started in afternoon about 3pm(?); the kind that swirl the trees around roughly. Even at 2 a.m. it was still going; and this morning when I got the gauge there was some wind, but it seems to more comes and go now (periods of calm). It rained in the evening and throughout the night; it was so hard at one point that it leaked into my garage (under the door). At midnight it was still raining hard. At 1:30 a.m. Hwy.36 was wet and ok, but my deck was a sheet of ice, possibly because the wind was blowing under it, and over it. At 9 a.m. there was still a little ice in the gauge. Sunny morning. The deck was pretty much dry. |

By late afternoon it was either 10 to 11 inches on the west side of the house, or 14 to 15 inches on the east side of the house! depending on where you measure. At about 4am (?) there wasn't any snow or rain all night. It began as a light layer that covered everything. Before the sun was starting to light the sky, the level of the snow began to rise---It seemed to grow by the inch or TWO each time I looked outside. It quickly covered the path I shoveled (twice), and covers and then dampens my clothes. it snowed all day and into the night. It is collapsing a little bit on the sides of the tall stack of snow on the deck railings,..with the some sides falling off, and may be better described as, just a little, disintegrating bit by bit on the sides and top (although the top seems to be also due to falling snow. (This still was happening next morning, Tuesday). It is dense snow, for packing snowballs. When I scrapped the snow off the railing this Tues. morning, it was like cutting through a 5-day old cake. It is bright but cold --21 degrees at 10 am. No melting. (although the driveway where I cleaned was wet looking where I kept walking back and forth). I took a measurement yesterday before dark and sent it in as a Significant Weather report (15" on west side), 11 inches on east side and in gauge .64), and then I took another measurement at 1 am. when the snow had stopped, which was 5 to 7 more inches (for a total of 13" in front and 17" in the back/east, so that is a total of 21"). This morning it has settled a bit, and is 13" in front and 17" in back TOTAL. = I put 21 inches on this report bec. that is the total that fell, even though at 9am it has "settled" to 17". The 1am gauge had .38 in it. = A weird thing is that the snow is all bumpy. It is not one flat layer. There are mounds of snow every where, like rolling hills. I don't know if I ever saw that in my yard before. The least snow I measured was 9" total this morning. |

It started out a bright day, with clouds. It started to snow about 3pm. At 7pm it was still bright, and 27 degrees. I measured the snow as 2 inches at that time. It continued to snow, but the next morning it was only 2.9 inches deep on average, so I think it settled, and was probably more inches. Most places it is either 13 or 17 inches deep. Again, it seems the west side of the house is closer to 13, and the back is 17, which may have something to do with the front having more trees. That maybe doesn't make sense, bec. I am NOT measuring under the trees; but I have no other answer. The old snow is getting hard and heavy, and has settled down to 17". If I try to shovel it, I have to do so in layers. The outside is mostly like a shell, and the inside softer. The new snow is easy to shovel. It was still snowing after dark. In the morning, it was not snowing, but it started at 10 a.m. |

It started to snow lightly at 10:50 am; it was 39 degrees. At 11:30am it was 32 degrees and the snow was like tiny snow balls and bounced as they hit the ground. At 5pm I went outside and measured 5" of snow and .29 precipitation. I went out again just before 9pm bec. I thought it had stopped snowing, but it was still snowing and felt wet; I felt it more than I saw it. The 2nd time it was 3" more and it was .25 in precip. This morning I went out and measured 4.5 more snow; which adds up to 12 inches. Some places it was 10 inches, but it may have settled, or that "wet snow" last night packed it down a bit. And the precip. that 3rd time was .39. There was still some sparse snowflakes in the air. There were a few large clumps of snow falling I think as early as 9am. |

It was a nice day until evening. The skies were dark to the west and some thunder, and it passed moving to the SE. It sprinkled around 6pm, and then a gentle rain about 6:45pm, and done by about 7pm. It took about an hour to pass over. I saw it in the distance, with some thunder, and a rainbow. I thought it was over. The I had to drive to Lyons at 8:45 pm, and it looked clear. The full way South was clear until about a mile before Lyons on hwy. 36 and then it was black. When I entered town, there were leaves all over the road. When I went on my friend's porch, there were big hail stones, about 2", and oblong. (She later told me that it had hailed and ended about 8pm or so). I decided to go home and it started to hail and rain very hard; the whole way home it followed me (8 miles); but when I was about 1 mile or a little more from home, it eased up a lot. At home there was no hail, but I was told it had hailed a little, but not enough for them to know it was going on and to observe it for me. It rained heavy, but not enough to flood the garage floor. It did pour out of the gutters fast. it continued till maybe 9:30 or 10pm? It felt like 60 degrees; cold. Then no more overnight. Sunny morning. |

It started out sunny. At about 2pm it got dark and thunder. At 2:19 pm it started to rain. It rained heavy at about 4pm?? and I measured it at 5:30pm - it was .21. It came at an angle from the east. Then more came down (time?) for another .09 in the morning. As I drove along hwy. 36 from Boulder to Lyons, there was no rain, but I could see odd grey skies above Lyons & the area. I passed a herd of black cattle all gathered in a tight circle, thinking it was ominous warning of bad weather. It started to pour when I came to Lyons (about 4:45pm), and streets flooded, and streaks of muddy water running down roads, and a few cars pulled off the road, and others driving very slow. It continued to pour until I was a few miles outside of Lyons, but still rained Pinewood Springs, my home, and it had stopped raining (still overcast). |
