Another pleasant morning with our guardbird watching over the berries in the tree out front. Every year this bird or its relatives returns to guard the tree and its berries from any other sparrow or cardinal that tries to eat these berries. It is really comical to watch the determination of this rather bossy bird. |

When we positioned the pond last year we were in the middle of a drought and therefore put it at the bottom of a slope. With all the rain we received this year that proved to be a small disaster. We found the pond floating in a pond. It took most of the afternoon to pump and bucket brigade the water out of the two ponds. Hopefully the berm we built will help divert water away in future storms. |

Heavy rain fell last evening for most of night. While it is great to get the moisture, it really is too late for garden. Pond is almost overfilled and again too much water too late in season. We did get a brief hail shower around 6:30 P.M. of quarter inch size. It only lasted a short period of time. Also had a great deal of lightning with passing storms. |
