The rapidly cooling temperatures allowed some very light sleet to mix in with the light showers. The sleet did not last long, nor did stick to the ground. We also saw an overnight freeze. Rainfall totals. A very drenching rainfall at times. At the start of the day yesterday, I anticipated around a half inch for totals. Seems that it more than doubled! A few rounds of heavy thunderstorms rolled through, starting during the afternoon, then a couple hours of dry weather. Th evening experienced a constant drenching rain, sometimes very heavy downpours. There was low lying, and especially street flooding. Street floods were more significant partially due to failure of draining systems (they were clogged with leaves), leading to standing water on many city streets. |

I was very excited to see snow sticking tot he ground this morning! Although it wasn't much, it has finally broken our long streak of now snowfall. It started yesterday at around 3 PM with light snow flurries. These flurries continued through the evening. A period of heavier snow happened around 8:30 PM, which lead to a thin coasting of snow on just about every surface outside. |

At observation time this morning, we had around one tenth inch of snow and a trace of ice accumulation. Light flurries still continuing, but freezing rain and freezing drizzle have ended. The snow is accumulating lightly on sidewalks. The ice is non existent on the main roads of town, but sidewalks and city streets have a small sheet of ice underneath the snow. |

Most, if not all of it, should be gone by today, and certainly later in the week. The winter continues to under-perform in terms of snowfall, but hopefully we can manage to get a fairly decent winter this year. I miss the big snows that we've had in the past. |

This is very significant for the month of January, and it has been a long while since I've seen rainfall like this in general, especially for winter. Measured the precipitation around 7 AM. Forgot to report. Sorry. Yesterday's wintry weather event was very interesting. With above freezing temperatures, the morning commute had moderate rain, along with a mix of sleet and snow, making a really big wintry mess. It changed to snow during the later morning, and fresh white snow accumulated ontop of the slush. During the early morning, snow was falling again. |

I was quite surprised to see this much in the gauge this morning. was only expecting around 1/4 to 1/2 inch by morning. Most of the snow pack is gone. The rainfall and snow melt continues to keep the ground quite a mess. Also looking at some minor flooding on streets and low lying areas. |

Rainfall totals. Approximately 2 tenths inch of the total fell during the day, while the rest fell at night. The heaviest of this precipitation began at around 9:30 PM and continued for quite some time before tapering to a steady rain. Lots of heavy wind driven rain. There was significant flooding in some areas, but this morning flooding has become less prevalent, although still occurring in low lying spots. Light drizzle was falling at observation time. |

Rainfall totals over the last 24 hours. Didn't quite expect this much! It rained really good for two waves yesterday, with the first wave being a little stronger. There was some minor ponding of water on poor drained streets of Pontiac, which is still occurring this morning. I was helping a friend do his paper route when I got soaked! We had to walk through what felt like small lakes, with water being at least 3 inches deep on one of the streets. |

**CORRECTED** I noticed that the caulk that was holding a crack in the inner cyclinder together has worn off a little and allowed some water to leak into the outer cylinder. I have measured what had leaked into it and added it onto my report.
