10/13/2012 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Looks like rain. However, nothing so far today.
10/23/2012 12:00 PM 0.29 M M M M Misting a little with infrequent lightening and thunder.
10/26/2012 9:30 AM 0.46 M M M M Overnight rains accumulated the entire amount. There were a few traces off and on during the daylight hours.
11/12/2012 8:00 AM 0.23 M M M M About a 30 degree drop from yesterday. Had pretty good winds the day before and the trees did a lot of self pruning. Lots of branches to clean up. they rain came late in the day and over night.
12/2/2012 9:35 AM 0.02 M M M M Just a brief spritz about 3:30 AM. No winds to account for nor lightening and thunder. Lots of dry spaces around the yard left after the shower.
12/3/2012 8:00 AM 0.04 M M M M We are having above average temps. The last few days have had high humidity and lots of fog. We need more water on the ground as it is still pretty dry.
12/4/2012 9:00 AM 0.27 M M M M Yesterday remained overcast with brief occasional sprinkles with just a trace of precipitation until after sunset. Somewhere between then and this morning we had the .27" of rain. It remains dark and overcast this morning.
12/5/2012 10:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Temperatures returned to Dec. normals. Rain predicted for the weekend.
12/7/2012 9:00 AM 0.05 M M M M Light occasional drizzle off and on all day and night. There was no down pour at any time. Everything had plenty of time to soak in.
12/11/2012 8:00 AM 0.08 M M M M The snow didn't accumulate except on leaves and hidden areas. The ground was generally to warm to allow any accumulation. There was a slight layer left on the roofs in the morning. Most of the snow that fell in the collector melted and froze as ice before allowing later falls to accumulate on the formed ice. The total thaw amounted to a hefty ,08" which was better than most recent rainfalls.
12/16/2012 3:00 PM 0.19 M M M M Another light constant drizzle over an extended time. Plenty of time for soaking into the ground. Still pretty dry around here. The effects of last summer's drought is still being felt.
12/21/2012 8:00 AM 0.22 M M M M We had rain followed overnight by snow. The snow is still covering the ground. There is freezing on windows etc. This appears to be the biggest snowfall of the season. The 50 mph winds blew over my tube. I now have to keep it closer to the entrance for safety reasons. Sorry about the possibility of a slight variance of accumulation for time to time.including blown over tubes.
12/25/2012 6:00 AM 0.01 M M M M The snow began about 4PM. There is very little accumulation on the ground etc. It is falling straight down. No wind. The gauge indicated about .01" The snow is increasing It appears extremely wet. The ambient Temp. is near freezing. This is somewhat reminiscent of the weather conditions before the "Snow of "67."
12/27/2012 8:45 AM 0.03 M M M M The snow cover is barely a dusting over the grass and yards with more green than white showing through. On the streets and walkways it is continuous and covers them completely. The temperature melted most of the snow in the tube and when the rest was melted the total for the past 24 hrs was .03".
12/28/2012 8:00 AM 0.01 M M M M The snow has just begun to fall in the last hour or so. I have a .01 melted water in my tube. The snow is slowly increasing in its fall. the sidewalks and roads are again covered and the lawns are beginning to cover over also, I think we may have an increase over the past couple of days of moisture accumulation. We have missed most of prior forecasts this past week. We live in an area that often has nothing and a few miles to either side gets inundated.
12/29/2012 12:45 AM 0.09 M M M M The daily temps are often exceeding 32 which means that the sun quickly melts the snow where ever it falls making a snow reading difficult without shading. The melted liquid over the past 28 hrs was .09" at my station.
1/11/2013 8:00 AM 0.70 M M M M The rain lasted through the evening without any great downpours. The streets are still running water in the gutters this morning. The winds are very slight. The temperature is unseasonable warm.
1/13/2013 8:00 AM 0.13 M M M M Cloudy but still above freezing. Extremely overcast.
1/24/2013 8:00 AM 0.12 M M M M I measured 2.4 " of snow. It is quite fluffy and soft. It melted down to .12" of
1/25/2013 2:30 PM 0.03 M M M M We had a small snow over night. I didn't measure the depth. However, the melted amount came to .03". I am at the southern end of Lake Michigan in the Snowbelt. Even a couple of miles from other reporting sights can vary with the whims of the Lake and prevailing winds by a considerable amounts.
1/28/2013 9:00 PM 0.11 M M M M Since yesterday I have .11" more rain. We are expecting up to three more inches with high winds later. We will reach near 70F and then in a day or two drop to zero overnight. Indiana weather off the Lake is a ride.
1/29/2013 9:00 AM 0.21 M M M M This rain fell at a slow pace and didn't run all off like a lot rains often do. It is continuing to drizzle and lightly fall this morning. We are expecting heavy rains later today and tomorrow. Our temperature is expected to rise into the 50's and in a day or so drop to near zero.
1/30/2013 8:00 AM 1.20 M M M M We had some lightening and thunder and a little disruption of the TV. The rain came in spurts and then settled into a steady drizzle. The temperatures preclude any snow covering in our area. It is suppose to dip to near zero later. Perhaps then we'll be blessed with some snow cover?
1/31/2013 8:00 AM 0.04 M M M M The ground was clear before this last snowfall. The snow is barely covering the ground but, there is some ice under it from the melting. Our temperature has dropped from the mid 60's to below freezing in a day. It will continue to slide down for another day to reach sub zero readings. In a couple of days it should be back into the mid 40's. So the snow cover isn't really a major factor. Besides I don't want to be walking over icy areas.
2/2/2013 8:00 AM 0.12 M M M M Our snow was 1.6" deep. It is fairly light and fluffy. there was just a trace of snow from earlier covering the ground. I put our a white painted snow board to keep track of the snow and accumulation. The temp was in the low teens.
2/3/2013 10:00 AM 0.01 0.7 0.01 2.5 M The snow is very light and fluffy with large flakes still falling. I just set our my snowboard yesterday and didn't take melted core value but the total depth is 2.5"
2/4/2013 8:00 AM 0.04 1.1 0.04 2.4 0.20
2/5/2013 8:00 AM T M M M M
2/6/2013 7:00 AM T M M M M We had a brief, heavy snow between 2:50 and 3:05 PM with an accumulation of about .02". Melted down it barely covered the bottom of the vial. Overall the temperatures are moderating to a more normal level. All snow cover will likely be gone by the weekend. I'll make overall snow cover readings again before it happens.
2/7/2013 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M The gauge is empty. No snow, rain or sleet yet today. The snow coverage is still at 100% in the yards and fields nearby. It has just begun to sleet/rain as I replaced the gauge and filled the bird feeders.
2/8/2013 8:00 AM 0.37 M M M M Most of it fell between 6; 15PM and 8:45 PM. It was mostly rain and then turned to frozen bits of ice thrown in and a few flake of snow. There wasn't much outside this time frame, just and dusting of snow. With the grass now showing through the remaining snow and dusting about 29% of the lawns are visible now where yesterday they were 100% covered.
2/9/2013 6:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No measurable snow or rain in the last 24 hrs. Miner melting of snow pack with minimal street runoff. Plenty of grass showing through on the lawns now. temperature pretty near freezing/melting. Snowboard still covered. Evidently doesn't pick up the sun's heat as well as the darker colored lawns?
2/10/2013 12:00 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M No moisture in the collection tube. The landscape is about 95% clear of snow cover. The snow board still has a dusting on it. The only collection of a snow pack is in heavily shaded parts of the lawn. A light rain is beginning to fall now.
2/11/2013 8:00 AM 0.18 M M M M ,17" fell by 2RM and another .01 fell before this 8AM. The snow pack is gone on the yards and the snowboard is clear.
2/12/2013 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M There is no collectable water. The snow cap is completely gone. The only signs of water is that which is seeping off the lawns and is laying frozen in the gutters on either side. The shoveled snow is gone also.
2/13/2013 6:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No water, snow or ice in the collector. The snow board and the yards are also without standing water or ice. There is still a little seepage from the yards into the street gutters. The amount has subsided over the past several days.
2/14/2013 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Nothing in the collector again today. However, rain is predicted for later in the week. There is no snow pack in sight. The road gutters are still getting run off from the yard seepage in the area. The temperatures are expected to drop again. Valentines day usually heralds the worse of the winter is behind us. It doesn't mean it can't blizzard. But it usually moderates quite quickly from here on out in Northern Indiana.
2/15/2013 7:00 AM 0.01 M M M M There is a very light snow covering on the houses and streets. It doesn't show much on the lawns. It must have filtered through the grass and remains mostly unnoticed there. Melted it gives a strong .01".
2/16/2013 7:00 AM 0.01 3.0 0.01 3.0 0.01 The snow fell without any precept-able drifting. Under trees was sparse while in the open it was 3/10's deep.
2/17/2013 6:00 AM T M M M M The melt produced the smaller part of .01". It barely covered the bottom of the measuring tube. However, my sump pump emptied for the first time since September. The ground around my crawl space must be accumulating some moisture at last. I had been reporting that the lawns were seeping to the roadways. We have been deficient of moisture for some time. Although I don't like water in the crawl space, I don't complain much now that we have been suffering from below normal moisture accumulations for the lawns and gardens.
2/18/2013 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Bo precipitation registered today.
2/19/2013 8:00 AM 0.26 M M M M Rained earlier yesterday and then the temp dropped below freezing. It was frozen this morning.
2/20/2013 8:00 AM T M M M M Not a half teaspoon full of snow in the collection cylinder. There is a dusting on the edges of a few roof tiles. But it did have a few drifting flakes last night.
2/22/2013 7:00 AM 0.22 1.4 M 1.4 M Fairly even distribution of snow across the yard as far as depth is measured. Wind must have not played much of a part in the snow;s location.
2/23/2013 2:00 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M No moisture accumulation last night or yesterday after last report
2/24/2013 7:30 AM 0.00 0.0 M 1.0 12.00 No new snow, rain etc over the past 24hrs. The snow cover is still near 100% I have 1" of snow and ice on the snow board the melt is .12".
2/25/2013 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M The barely above freezing temperatures are rapidly melting the snow pack. today, about 40% of the lawns are visible in our area and are now snow clear. The shadowed areas are retaining their snow cover well.
2/26/2013 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M There is no moisture accumulations again last night in my collection tube. The snow cover in open areas is gone. The only snow left is from the piles formed from snow removal on the roads and walk ways and those in the shadows. The snow on the North side of the houses is about 3/4 the height of houses in the cast shadows. Trees also affect the still standing snow. The neighbors have a split rail fence. It's shadow has left a snow pattern of fence on the lawn. I have a problem with my snow board. It is standing in the middle of the lawn. The snow has melted from the lawn. The white painted composite board still has .2" of hard crust snow mixture on it. Does this cause a problem with the data of cocorah's collections of moisture informationstill to be let on the lawns?
2/27/2013 6:00 AM 0.55 M M M M The fall varied between ice balls, rain and snow intermittently over the past 24 hrs. The final accumulation is .02" of snow cover. The ambient temperature is between 33 and 34F. I used a push broom to sweep the slush off the side walk, drive way and stoop. The snow cover is continuing to melt. The snow/rain is again falling. I'll get my collection tube back in place when I sign off here.
2/28/2013 6:00 AM 0.42 M M M M Like yesterday, the rain and snow was intermixed as the temperature remained just at or barely above freezing most of the time. There is a slushy mixture over everything. An attempt to measure the depth of either or both is a waste of time. I melted the slush in the gauge and came up with .42". The sump pump went on breifly for the second time since Sept. The ground is finally becoming somewhat water laden. We have clay in our area and lie on the North side of the Valparaiso moraine which empties into the Lake Michigan water basin via Salt Creek.
3/1/2013 8:00 AM 0.02 M M M M The near freezing temperatures again disrupted collection data. The snow melted quickly to slush. Enough snow remained to cover about 95% of the lawns. The street gutters are carrying off a lot of water. There is a crust on snow as the temperatures fell below freezing. The melted mixture in the tube is .02" water.
3/2/2013 8:00 AM T M M M M The temperature has edged just above freezing for the past couple of days and has melted most of the snow from the roofs of both heated and unheated buildings. The snow cover is still about 75+% on the lawns. There was just a tiny bit of snow in one side of the collection tube. I doubt it was 1/4 tsp maximum. The maple sap is flowing. The overnight temperatures are in the low 20's and the daytime temps are above freezing. The sun side of the trees with the solar heat is climbing to near 45F. Perfect for the maple sap run. We may not be Vermont, but we do make maple syrup in Indiana. The Shellberg Farm in Porter county and the Deep River Mill in Lake Col are both in full swing with Native American, Pioneer and modern methods of production shown in free tours for the rest of the season.
3/3/2013 2:00 PM 0.05 M M M M *Nothing added since this morning. We are expecting a big even beginning around 30 hrs from now.
3/4/2013 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No new precipitation in the past 24 hrs. We are expecting a really nice event of over 7" in the next 24. The snow pack is again disappearing rapidly with the ambient air day time temperature above or near freezing. The temperature on the sun side of the trees and other darker colored lawns etc are reaching near or above 45 F at times. We are near 20F now.
3/5/2013 8:00 AM 0.01 M M M M Over half of the snow cover is melted. The little that fell didn't cover anything. We are still forecast to have an exciting event of 8" to 11" before tomorrow morning. I postponed 2 appointments for today in anticipation of the roads becoming to hazardous to navigate. In the heavily trafficked areas leading into Chicago that remains a threat every-time we have a noticeable snow. More tomorrow.
3/6/2013 8:00 AM 0.67 M M M M Most of the snow fell between 8AM and 8PM. The visibility at times fell to less than 1/4 mile or less. The snow packed quickly as it was near 32F. We have a 100% snow pack covering now.I can't type in full inches and fraction on the accumulation to the nearest tenth. total new snow depth 6.9".
3/7/2013 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M The roads and sidewalks are completely cleared of snow. The yards are 100% covered with snow at least 5" thick. The snow pack is declining again. The ambient air temperature is getting up above freezing and on the snow cleared roads and drives. it is much warmer. At this rate of melting we should be seeing a lot of clear lawn space by Saturday.
3/8/2013 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M The snow is steadily receding. The lawns are not yet visible. The gutters of the streets are not yet running this morning.
3/10/2013 8:00 AM 0.33 M M M M The sump pump emptied twice last night. That's the 4th and 5th time since September's installation. The ground must be getting pretty saturated. Perhaps our drought is about over? The snow pack is still at about 50% coverage. Only the drifts and shadowed areas contain much if any snow cover. The street gutters are running heavily into the sewers here.
3/11/2013 8:00 AM 0.22 M M M M The only snow left is that which was shoveled in heaps. Thy don't cover but 1 or 2% of the lawns. The ground is well saturated with water. The crawl space sump pump is emptying almost every day now.
3/12/2013 5:00 AM 0.05 M M M M The rain came in little spritzes off and on throughout the day. The ground in getting pretty well saturated now. The sump pump emptied twice yesterday even with that tiny amount or rainfall.
3/13/2013 8:00 AM 0.04 M M M M Shorr, thick snowfall with very large clumps of snow for about 45 min. A lot melted before it began to stick.
3/14/2013 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M less than 1 in 10 yards has any trace of snow left. those that do don't have more than a gallon at most. The predominantly clay soil in my area is soaked. It yields water when walked upon. Our drought is now held at bay.
3/16/2013 8:00 AM 0.15 M M M M
3/17/2013 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No new moisture in any form over the past 24hrs.
3/21/2013 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Down to 20F. Nice hard freeze. No moisture accumulating though.
3/22/2013 6:42 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Cold again last night. No precipitation.
3/24/2013 4:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M
3/25/2013 5:41 AM 0.05 M M M M The first bit of the precipitation was frozen ice bits with the flakes. later it continued as hard snow again. It melted quite quickly leaving an icy undercoating. The snow never left a fluffy covering. This morning it adhered to the walk way and was difficult to brush off. The temperature near the freezing mark is helping it stay just frozen below the melting point. It is extremely difficult to remove it from the snow board for a correct measurement of water content.
3/26/2013 7:00 AM 0.11 0.7 M M M The first part of the snowfall melted as it fell. later some began to freeze but with the temperature near freezing it was slushy. The depth of the fall was not capable of an accurate measurement. The depth measurable was .7".
3/27/2013 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No new precipitation levels recorded today.
3/29/2013 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M There isn't any snow on the ground. there hasn't been any precipitation for several days now. However, the ground seem to be well watered from the previous precipitations of the previous months.
3/30/2013 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Nights below freezing and days in the upper 40's and lower 50's. These are near normal temps. The streets are drying up. The ground is still spongy. The clay is too wet to turn yet.
3/31/2013 8:00 AM T M M M M
4/7/2013 8:00 AM 0.02 M M M M Lots of rain and some lightening. Much ado about nothing or nearly nothing. The little that fell left no indication of its passing except that in the collection tube.
4/8/2013 8:00 AM 0.14 M M M M soaked right into the ground.
4/9/2013 6:00 PM 0.05 M M M M couldn't connect this morning.
4/10/2013 8:00 AM 0.06 M M M M
4/11/2013 6:45 AM 1.27 M M M M The heaviest rainfall we've had for a while. The sump pump emptied at least three times. That's the most since it was installed last fall. The rain was accompanied by lightening and thunder. The rain, lightening and thunder continued all night.
4/12/2013 8:00 AM 0.79 M M M M The ground is getting pretty soaked. The sump pump emptied quite often last night.
4/13/2013 6:00 AM 0.05 M M M M Most of the rain fell yesterday morning after 8AM to noon
4/14/2013 9:00 AM 0.02 M M M M The ground is the wetest its been in the past 6 months. We are experiencing flooding from Salt creek. We are on the North face of the Valparaiso Moraine that empties into Lake Michigan. The river is overflowing in some lowland areas.
4/16/2013 6:00 AM 1.46 M M M M Rained on and off all day and night. The sump emptied a lot of times last night. At least on the ground surface there is a heavy saturation. The water from roof runoffs are directed away from the house and garage. This indicates heavy saturation of 2 and one half feet deep in the surrounding soil causing sump activities. Our drought may be temporarily over.
4/17/2013 8:00 AM T M M M M It has just begun to sprinkle in the past half hour. It was dry this morning when I picked up the paper earlier.
4/18/2013 6:00 AM 0.83 M M M M Nice steady rain accompanied by lightening and thunder. We are experiencing some flooding from salt creek and at Rt.6. It was up to the road. It is at least 2 ft above normal. However, we do usually have some flooding in the spring. There is some flooding in the low areas,
4/19/2013 7:00 AM 0.77 M M M M From 8 AM to 6PM it rained ,37". From 8 PM to 7Am it rained another .40" for a total of .77".
4/20/2013 8:00 AM 0.03 M M M M
4/22/2013 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain over the past 24hr. It is cold, near freezing.
4/23/2013 8:00 AM 0.01 M M M M Rained about 6 AM for a brief spritz.
4/25/2013 8:00 AM 0.32 M M M M We had sprinkles of and on all day with little accumulation. The bulk, probably close to .30 came after 10PM. The ground is getting soaked. Salt Creek is over its banks in the low areas but isn't causing very much concern. It isn't flooding housing areas or farms yet. The terrain in our area and the occupied spaces were generally built to avoid flooding.
4/26/2013 8:00 AM 0.02 M M M M Along with the rain we had a brief flurry of ice chips or small hail. they were too small to damage plants, autos etc. The total accumulation of ice and rain was .02".

4/28/2013 6:00 AM 0.05 M M M M
4/29/2013 6:00 AM T M M M M We had fog for the first time in a while.
5/4/2013 8:00 AM 0.21 M M M M We had a nice gentle soaking rain. most of it soaked into the ground rather than running off into the street. The ground was still fairly wet. Last years drought seems to be held at bay for now.
5/10/2013 5:00 AM 0.32 M M M M A nice soft rain fell last night. No standing puddles anywhere. The garden is mostly in and can use the help of nature. Some of the baby robins have left their nests. There are eggs in others waiting to hatch. Yet other robins have just begun their mating rituals. Spring is in full bloom.
5/18/2013 6:00 AM 0.02 M M M M There were a couple of really light drizzles that finally amounted to the .02"
5/21/2013 8:00 AM 1.03 M M M M
5/22/2013 6:00 AM 0.02 M M M M There was a little drizzle about 8 PM and I don't know if any fell after that.
5/23/2013 7:00 AM 0.10 M M M M Still raining lightly as I emptied the large tube.
5/24/2013 4:00 PM 0.10 M M M M
5/27/2013 6:00 AM 0.08 M M M M There is still a gentle rain falling. The rain is generally soaking into the soil. There doesn't seem to be much run off from the yards.
5/28/2013 6:00 AM 0.38 M M M M
5/29/2013 6:00 AM 0.34 M M M M Lot of thunder and lightening with the rain.
5/31/2013 4:00 AM 0.14 M M M M
6/2/2013 7:00 AM 0.17 M M M M We had a quick heavy rain.
6/6/2013 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M The forecast rain didn't come last night. Our drought of last year seems to have been mitigated for a while anyway.
6/10/2013 8:00 AM 0.79 M M M M The rain came in torrents and then alternated with heavy steady rains with spaces of intermittent calms.
6/12/2013 6:00 AM 0.63 M M M M we also had some hail. By the time I got outside with my micrometer the hail had melted. It fell during the rain and melted quickly. The pellets were about 3/16 ths of an inch in diameter.
6/13/2013 8:00 AM 1.41 M M M M We had a lot of lightening and thunder with high winds. There were local Tornado sirens. A house in the area had its roof blown off. In the 50 years plus that I've lived in this area I don't remember that happening before without a tornado.
6/17/2013 10:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No weather to report. Except it will get hot before the day is over. Happy 15th.
6/18/2013 4:00 PM 0.10 M M M M Nothing accumulated after 8Am today.
6/20/2013 9:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain fall. This week is expected to be more summer like, with the temps in the upper 80's and lower 90's. Some of the recently planted shrubs and flowers needed extra watering. We've had lots of rain earlier. We should be clear of last years drought but some hold over is noted in several types of trees and yard plants.
6/22/2013 2:00 PM 0.25 0.0 M M M The rain stopped about 8:30 PM last night. My sump kicked out about 3 gallons at about 2PM this afternoon. We may be drying up just a little for such a nice delay in fall and emptying. Some plants are showing a little lack of moisture now.
6/24/2013 10:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M The temperature soared to near 90 and was extremely overcast and muggy. The dew point was over 70 according to the weather forecasters. However, we experienced no rain fall, luckily for us.
6/25/2013 10:00 AM 0.34 M M M M Exciting night. Electricity just got turned back on in our area. It seems that a line of high winds blew down some limbs and rotted trees in a line at least a mile and a half long. The corridor was relatively narrow , perhaps only 100 feet or so wide. Most trees were unaffected It wasn't a heavy damage situation. The area affected was about 7and 3/4 miles North by about 450 to 350 W or Valparaiso. The electricity was out about 8 or so hours. The winds were reported to be in the 76MPH range. Before the wind hit we had a rain with hail. The hail was melting quite quickly as the temperature was near 80. The hail I measured was between .320 and .356 in diameter. I used a micrometer to measure. Electric is back on.
6/26/2013 8:00 AM 1.73 M M M M We've had a steady rain all night. Lots of thunder with little visible lightening. The winds are relatively calm. My fallen limbs are cleaned up from the heavy winds a couple of nights before.
6/28/2013 12:15 PM 0.05 M M M M Most of the rain and winds hit Lake county ,the first county west of us. We did get to see some of the lightening and hear the thunder and wind. Over 30,000 more people lost their electricity.
7/3/2013 7:00 AM 0.24 M M M M The rain soaked in pretty well. No puddles building up.
7/8/2013 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M The rains have been skirt-ting my station as of late. A friend said he ran through a brief burst the other day. I've had to delay finishing my drive repair for over a week because of threats of rain that didn't materialize. For the next several days more rain is predicted. I'm considering replacing a window in the interim.
7/9/2013 8:00 AM 0.60 M M M M Most of the accumulation occurred before nightfall. The leaves are already dried off. I have to walk through them to change the hummingbirds and other birds.
7/10/2013 10:00 AM 0.09 M M M M We had a few scattered spritzes that totaled .09". Our dew point over 75 and temperatures at or near 90F Our RH was over 90 rivaling the Amazon Delta. Needless to say, our AC received a workout.
7/27/2013 8:00 AM 0.02 M M M M The temperature has dropped because of a cold air mass from the North. It brought a few scattered showers that amounted to .o2". One of the over riding questions at the county fair, "Ask a Master Gardener Booth, was about the effect of moisture because of the recent hot, dry spell. Even a lot of drought resistant plants (local Native plants like Black eyed Susans )are showing drying and wilting.
8/2/2013 4:00 PM 0.63 M M M M Just a little spritz. However, it is very overcast and appears more down pour is eminent. Our soil is very dry. Leaves on many small plant are turning brown. I've had to water several times to keep mine from turning to badly. the edges of many lawns next to drives and streets is especially hard hit. There is more rain forecast for today. At between 8:30 abd 9:00 AM we had a rain that dropped and addition .63", It is clouding over and feeling like another shower is imminent.
8/3/2013 8:00 AM 1.12 M M M M This rain fall was from about 22 hrs ago till now.
8/12/2013 6:00 PM 0.82 M M M M We had a quick heavy shower between 5:30 and 6:00PM. The rain was large drops and heavy. The sky got quite black as the storm passed by. To the North over the lake area the sun was shinning brightly.
8/22/2013 7:00 AM 0.27 M M M M We had a passing thunder storm with rain accumulation of .27". We had just received the heat wave out of Mn. yesterday. We are lacking in rain water.
9/1/2013 8:00 AM 0.83 M M M M The rain camp in short downpour off and on all day long. There was some lightening and thunder. There were times with a lot of rumbling and no water falling.
9/15/2013 6:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Even the black eyed Susans are needing watering. there are some signs of the drought again. The tomato plants and even the dog woods that are several years old were drooping before I go the sprinkler going. Most plants are doing OK. However, there are some that have been having to be given addidtional moisture to survive.
9/16/2013 7:00 AM 0.27 0.0 M M M The rain came gently off and on all day. The cooler temperatures and the little moisture revived the suffering plant temporarily. We are still at a huge moisture deficit so its just a temporary fix.
9/18/2013 10:30 PM 2.66 M M M M We had a heavy rain accompanied by thunder, lightening and occasional high winds and gusts. It passed over by 10.30. Some lightening is visible far east of us. The thunder is out of range of hearing.
9/19/2013 7:00 AM 2.95 M M M M What a string of rains. The first big one ended by 10:30 PM. it dropped 2.66". about 11:PM and until dawn an additional .20" fell for a total of 2.95 for the 35 hour period. Although it was an extreme amount for normal times, most was quickly either absorbed or ran off. In our immediate are there is no sever flooding, Now that the ground ,at least near the surface is pretty well saturated, we will see what the rains already forecast for later today will do.
9/20/2013 11:30 AM 0.87 M M M M .86 fell between 11:30 and 12:30 the other .01 fell over the ensuing 23 hrs in brief spritz's.
