Mid/high clouds thickened overnight out ahead of a cold front slowly inching through the upper midwest, giving mild temps only in the mid 40s with some very gusty southwest winds through the night. |

Lots of clouds over the past 24 hours, but most of the light lake snow shower activity held west of the area on a mean northerly wind flow. Clouds were expected to clear overnight, but low clouds again prevailed (a common theme so far this fall), with overnight lows only in the upper 20s. A few flurries made an appearance overnight as well. |

Typical for this time of year, lots of low clouds hung on across the area on Saturday, beneath high pressure building just to our west. That kept highs right at freezing, with a few flurries floating through the air, especially into early afternoon. Those clouds stuck around overnight, with lows barely budging out of the upper 20s. |

Just can't believe how much low cloud cover we have had recently, and the past 24 hours was just more of the same, with lots of moisture trapped beneath high pressure sliding basically overhead. Those clouds left us briefly into the late evening, before more low clouds pushed in off Lake Michigan. It's now been 7 days of low clouds across the area, with no snow. |

Widespread rain overtook the area overnight, with a period of freezing rain as temperatures slipped back below freezing through 2am (with some very dry air in place initially). Lots of ice on the roads this morning as roadway temperatures were below freezing, despite air temperatures in the middle to upper 30s. Schools were closed all throughout northern Michigan. |

Record-setting warmth on Saturday with a high of 51 degrees under lots of sunshine. Just beautiful! That all ended into the evening as a strong cold front crossed the area, sending readings back into the lower 30s, while precipitation spread back into the region. Precipitation was initially rain but switched to freezing rain as temps fell to 31 degrees. Very slippery morning travel. |

Crazy weather day with a brief burst of snow early afternoon that melted as temperatures rose into the middle 30s. A line of snow showers and thunderstorms (!) arrived during the late evening, before convective snow squalls rolled into the area right around midnight with an arctic front. Temperatures fell rapidly through the teens. |
