Nothing in the gauge this morning, but I observed light showers (Big drops, but not a lot of them) yesterday afternoon for about 10 minutes. Clouds built heavily over the ridge to the South (very common here), but nothing really hit in this hollow. We see this pattern more often than not! |

Not much rain throughout the day - just a few light showers off and on - only about .1" had accumulated by dusk. But rain could be heard throughout most of the night, and sprinkles were continuing at 0700. Although we have had some very impressive 3-day totals and the ground is very saturated right now, all of the rain has been fairly slow and steady, so it has had a chance to soak in. There really has not been much runoff - not even as much as we usually see in a single event that dumps .5-.7" at a time - and I live in a small valley with steep slopes and a steep dirt road right down the middle, so runoff is quickly apparent! This REALLY seems to be helping our drought situation around here. I'm looking forward to having my well water tested soon to see if the hardness is dropping from the new infusion of water. |

Light steady rain throughout the entire day, ending around dusk. No rain was heard during the night, but light rain started again just before 0700 this morning. Once again there was no significant runoff due to the very slow nature of the rain, but the ground is so saturated I am now fearing any heavy rain as I know it will cause major damage in our hollow. But so far we have been able to hold on to just about all of the near 5" of rain over the past four days - that's GREAT! |

Woke to clear skies this morning for first time in a week. Yesterday's rain was split between early morning and early evening. Steady rain from 0700 to 0830 accumulated .17", then things held off for the rest of the day. This morning the ground surface is noticeably less squishy, so this was a nice break if we get more significant rain this afternoon. Overnight low was 49. |

For several hours before the first precip here we were watching VERY heavy rain towards and probably over the Capitan Gap. Rain here started around 1400, with minor hail (rice) for about 5 minutes around 1425. Hardest rain during the day was between 1530 and 1600, generating noticeable runoff for the first time in the past five days. Thankfully the hard rain did not last too long, so no damage noted. By the time that shower stopped we had accumulated .43". Woke this morning to heavy overcast with some significant rain starting around 0630 - it had lightened up by 0700, but the runoff has started and could get really bad if any heavy rains hit today. Overnight low 54F. |

Just got back yesterday - everything around here (including my gauge) is real dry. Overnight low 41F. Totally clear skies this AM, and the humming birds seem to be completely gone from the area (still had mobs of them 7 days ago, but not a sign of even one anywhere in the hollow this morning). |
