The storms really missed us yet again. We DID have a little rain. The .36" breaks down like this .... Between 8am and 7pm yesterday we got .15" (that was at around 2.15pm) Tween 7pm and 8pm we got .21" !That came with half a dozen rolls of thunder... most were distant and 2 were overhead. Today is my 1st Anniversary with CoCoRaHS ! (A year ago it was 45F and there had been a little rain and I have managed not to miss a day). TODAY it is 27F with a frost where the trees arent protecting the ground. Light icing on the birdbaths. Air is still and calm. We need this frost. Protected what plants I could but little left to protect as most has been lost to the drought. |

Rain !! A thunderstorm rolled through very quickly at 4.45am and its been raining intermittantly since then. Still raining at observation time ! This is the first rain of any consequence since 14th October with one tiny shower in between. High gusting winds this past 2 days and high temps with stable weather for the past 3 weeks had made it a tinderbox out there and this rain is very very welcome. |

Boxing Day....The feast of St.Stephen... "when the ice lay round about"... not deep but certainly crisp and even.Within an hour of my report yesterday we had icefall.Very hard to take a core as such but maximum "flat place" depth 1/2".... more in the drifts. There was a sharp shower approximatly at 10.30am yesterday morning which accounted for .03 of that total. Late afternoon there was thunder and rain that turned rapidly to freezing rain with ice accumulation. Ice drops on the branches were then by 5pm already approximately 3/4" - 1" long and there was at least 1/8" ice sheet on the twigs and branches and any flat surfaces. The remaining .27" of rain was collected at the beginning of that time. Giving a total of .30" The ground was sheet glass ice and the trees branches were already beginning to sag. Everything stayed frozen solid for the rest of the night. This morning with sunrise it is a glass ice world.No further ice accumulation but a light scattering of ice balls which occured sometime after 10pm and before 1.30am. There is a light breeze and air temp of 19.4F and windchill alot lower ! |

Yesterday was intermittant wet snow and rain with sleet.. fine ice balls and then a 5 min pea sized hail storm at 5.20pm. Evening became quieter and occasional short showers overnignt and a thunderstorm around 6.45am with pea sized hail. Now is calm and overcast. Just got power back ! Till 1am this morn we had missed everything everyone else was getting !! Still had air temp in high 60'sF . Yesterday it was 97° and very humid. Had to mow and also had the first Copperhead of the season ! Most of the storms were well away from us but at around 10.45pm there was thunder and lightning and rain . Rain was intermittant and was all over around midnight.This morning is bright and sunny with a warm breeze and air temp of 74°F. |

Everything yesterday passed North of us thankfully as our weather was perfect for the tornados to happen to us. This morning the wind has dropped a little but the conditions are still primed. Overcast with light breeze and air temp of 73.4°F. Stay safe out there. |

We escaped any damage from the dreadful tornado. At 4.10am this morning a huge hailstorm passed through.... the thunder and lighning is still going on,mainly mid distant now at 8.45am. There was a carpet of nickle and dime sized hail. Tree leaves are shredded as are plants. The entire 2.58" of rain came between 4.10am and 5.15am. On another day I would have been upset at the damage... today... I KNOW we are so very very lucky. The .33" fell yesterday at approx 5.30pm when a storm came through. Its more like a Florida swamp out there than Oklahoma in July ! Locally people are having to go back to between 1981-83 to remember a Summer as green and wet as this. Yet we know.. not far away the State is still dry. Clearing skies after some wonderful rain ! This is the first rain in 32 days . It started around 4.30am and there was distant thunder with one very loud overhead thunderclap at 5am ! Other than that one.. all distant. Spells of showers till 7.30am but overall it was good much needed steady rain. This morning is clearing skies and calm with an air temp of 67.6F |
