It rained during the early hours as it hadn't around 1:45a. It's heavy clouds, blustery winds and there was a thick fog around 7a, it closed in about 7:30a and was beginning to clear some about 8:30a but has come back some since. The temp was 54.7F at 7:07a and has been dropping since and is now 51.5F at 9:13a. I hope the winds and clouds continue as the frost wasn't supposed to be a factor until Sunday night/Monday morning so I haven't laid out the frost covers as yet. |

There was some short, light rain showers about 3:50 and 4:25p, with rain at 5:30p I was out in the yard when it came in suddenly and so got a bit wet. At 9:12p there was close thunder and then heavy rainfall. There was a couple "waves" of such and then just rain.. I went out at 10:11p and measured 0.55-in precip; this morning there was another 0.03-in for a total of 0.58 for the reporting period. It was very windy with some strong gusts. I have plenty of leaves blown down, plus "leafy limb tips" where I can see. Have not been out in the wooded trail area yet. There is already loads of debris down in there from previous storms and will take some time to clear out. |

There was a passing shower about 7:12a yesterday, then a short, but nice, rain shower at 11:24a. I measured 0.23 yesterday at 5p; and another 0.02 this morning for a total of 0.25-in precip for the reporting period. The 'high' yesterday was about noon-ish with 57.4F at 11:56a; the temp then began to fall and was falling about 3-deg an hour, so by 5p had fallen about 15-deg. and was now 42.7F at 5:12p. It was 36.7 at 10:40p last night and 30.4F [another thermometer said 28.1F] at 6:30a this morning. At 10:20a it is a "hot" 30.8F [30.2F]. Both are digital thermometers but are in somewhat different locations. I bought more than one guage so I can bring in the one to defrost while the other is put out for fresh catch, so I don't miss any accumulation. |

I looked out at 11:56a yesterday and it was rain/snowing - light snow but coming down fairly consistantly and the wind was blowing it at a 45-deg angle to sideways. When I looked out at 12:44p it was snowing quite heavily but it was small, wet flakes. If the temp had been cold enough, we likely would have had a blizzard to talk about. About 5:02p the snow was melted enough and the temp had cooled enough that it was now icy and crunchy. |

It was a weird day - cold clouds passed over - no snow; 'rain' clouds passed over - no rain. It wasn't until around 7:30p that one of the cats came in with a wet back. It was a drizzlie, showers, rain, drizzlie, dreary day until 5:58p when the rain came down so hard it knocked out the satellite signal for a couple minutes. Then the temp chilled. The temp was basically 61-62 all day. At 5:59p it was 62.3F; at 6:09p it was 61.4F; at 8:51p it was 51.3; at 10:47p it was 43.0F; 41.2F at 12:57a; and 36.9F at 7:48a. It is 36.7F at 8:04a, light fog, chilly breeze. I didn't note the time yesterday, but it was late afternoon and I was out in the yard and it was breezy and I felt like I was being pelted with ice crystals. |

It is very icy and slippery out. There is a 1/2-in or better ice drip on the trees I can see, maybe 1/8-in ice on the top of the branches. I can't get out to them to measure. The 4 front pine branches are so loaded with ice they are hanging down and one is so covered that I first thought the top had snapped as all I could see was the branches drooping. Bushes and trees have this icing and one of the smaller pines top is bent over as well. |

We had at least 2-in of new snow fall overnight. I let a cat out at 5:30a and it was like a white blanket over everything. The cat went out but wanted back in rather quickly. My dog ran out into it and had a ball eating the snow and 'plowing' the yard. I would guesstimate we had a possible 3-inches of snow but I'm not going out into the yard to check my eyeball observation. I measured what I could safely get to. Much of the old snow was melted where I could get to, so this measurement does not include any of that. |

It was gusty, calm, gusty; there was quiet, downpour, quiet; there was thunder at 10:32a and thunders at 10:38a. There may have been others but I was doing noisy things and didn't hear any. There were grumbles at 3:05p, then a real rain shower at 5:30p and real rain for a few minutes at 5:50p. At 6:51p NOAA radio gave a "severe thunderstorm warning". At 7:07p the Fentress County phone alert 'called' with a 'severe thunderstorm approaching Fentress County' warning. I heard numerous thunders from 1:15p onwards. We had spells of gusty winds and heavy cloud cover and smells of rain but nothing to note until a short, downpour at 8:30p but there was nothing in the rain guage to measure. It must have been very spotty as it was coming down hard enough to hear it coming. The main part of the storm stayed to the north of here. |

Sent as a significant Report on Sunday: 5:35p thunders were heard; 5:45p some splats fell; 5:46p = more thunders and sprinkles; 5:47p rain; 5:48p heavy downpour and weird, almost violent, gusty back and forth and circling winds had trees whipping back and forth and the garden flapping back and forth near level - a corn dance? We had a power flux at 6:07p and it slacked off at 6:10p so I went and measured the precip in the guage - 0.84-in in the time span of the 18 minutes noted above. I thought it was in 25 minutes but I was thinking of when the thunders were noted, not when the rains began. It is still thundering at 6:33p but the rain is just a light sprinkle. The 18 minutes of heavy rain is marked from 5:47p to measuring at 6:10p - what fell before that was light and only for 5:45 to 5:47p. Added today: No significant damage, though tree limb ends were torn off trees, I haven't gone out in back to check for tree limbs and such. My corn was leaning over, as was the potato plants and onion stalks. My wind turbines are still attached to the roof. The beans, okra, etc., were disheveled looking. I measured another 0.01 this morning |

Thunders @ 12:19p; 12:21p - big rain splats; 12:22p - hard rain such I can't really see the house across the street clearly; 12:25p - still a hard rain and gusty winds blowing rain at a 45-deg angle; [0.73-in rain] (I guess I was so shaken by this second heavy storm in two days, as it was destroying the stand of corn that I wrote down it was 6-somethings and it had to be 12-somethings as the hail entry is for 1:03p) at 1:03p - lots of pea size hail and more thunders; 1:10p - still thundering and I measured 0.41-in more rain; this morning I measured another 0.03-in precip for a total of 1.17-in precip for the reporting period. The storm Sunday whipped the corn and other garden vegetables back and forth, flat and upright, but they hung on. The soil was very wet for this storm and it blew the corn this way and that way as well as the squash and tomatoes and so on. A neighbor came down to help me try and stand the corn back up but the soil was too wet and I got some cut welded wire fence pieces and rammed them into the ground and we bunched stalks and tied them together and then to the 'brace' and hope the corn recovers. It was beginning to tassle. Some stalks were completely broken off and others were broken but still attached. Some of those may make it. Only time will tell. The tomatoes look like they will do OK, the squash plants - mostly, though some aren't looking so well and I was able to straighten the okra. The tattered plants will make new leaves if we don't have hot sun on this soaked soil to steam cook them. I noticed that younger stands of corn made it through mostly upright. I was trying the "three sisters" and so may lose the beans too. Had not put out the third plant and the planted area was already overgrown and I didn't think it would receive enough sunlight to prosper. |

This morning I measured another 0.03-in precip for a total of 0.64-in for the reporting period. A really wet season - appreciate it after the l-o-n-g drought years, but it has been too much for some vegetables and the white and red potatoes are rotting in the ground. Even the sweet potatoes are starting to show distress. |

I measured 1.35-in precip at 5:15p and another 0.42-in this morning for a total of 1.77-in for the reporting period. My soil is saturated and water is standing in the yard; soil is washing away; the tomatoes are developing 'blossom-end rot' and the tomato plants are being attacked by fungus; the potato plants are dying and it is very wet to dig for any that may have made and I am concerned they will rot with all this standing water. The corn that was braced back up is leaning but still standing and even the okra and gladiolas are having a time standing up. First we near dried up and blew away and now we are mildewing and drowning. I have concerns that another strong wind storm will begin to blow over trees if the soil is still so boggy when it happens. |

It has rained for so long with little sun that I don't think many of the blossoms are being pollinated - a very lush garden but I anticipate little produce as it looks like it will rain somewhat until about 7/15. Hopefully there will be some sun and dryness in there somewhere. The grass needs mowing, the garden beds need weeding, the potatoes need to be dug or rot and so on. |

I measured 1.32-in precip at 12:38p; another 0.27-in at 5:10p; and 0.85-in this morning - for a total of 2.44-in precip for the reporting period. The soil is saturated and has standing water on the level areas and puddles in the low areas and water is running downhill at a good clip. Glad I don't live further down as there has been a LOT of water going down that way the past several days. The sun is peeking out some and I'm hoping that it will dry up enough I can attempt to cut some of this "grass" before it becomes more like a hay field. The garden plants keep blooming but I don't see a lot of produce being made. The corn tassels are high up now but I don't think they are being pollinated. Few birds, no insects, nature is very quiet. Drought, then flood - wish things would even out better. |

SUN !!! I'd almost forgotten what it looked like. It became very muggy very fast though and I had to turn on the A/C. Insects, birds came out to enjoy the respite also. Maybe the garden can be pollinated now and some produce occur. |
