I left Crosbyton at 3:17 pm, and observed the tornado or land spout between Lorenzo and Idalou. It was North of Texas highway 114. Also, there were many reasonably sized dust devils around the storm (the tornado or land spout I observed was different, though. I know it was not a dust devil).

6/18/2013	8:00 AM	0.62	M	M	M	M	The wind ripped a tree from it's roots in our front yard. It was a coniferous tree, about 10-12 feet tall, and had been there for at least the past 13 years. Since it was near the road, it did not damage the house or any other structures when it fell, praise the Lord. Also, the bracket on my rain gauge is still damaged from the last set of storms, so that it cannot secure the gauge on it's own, so I had to send out a brave representative to re-secure the ropes holding it on (they had come loose during the storm) so that I did not loose my data.

I thought it was interesting that we had a flash flood at the Bar-10 Ranch (Whitmore Wash) on Saturday, and so much rain that the charter planes had trouble getting there from Las Vegas. The weather patterns between the Grand Canyon (inside the canyon on the Colorado River - not on the rim) and Lubbock probably are not related, but I think it is interesting anyway.
