Observation Date Observation Time Precipitation Snowfall Snowfall SWE Snow Depth Snow SWE Notes
10/1/2013 8:25 AM T M M M M Temp = 63.3°; Hum = 98%; Baro = 29.03" steady; Dew Pt. = 62.7°; A stratus layer of clouds is producing a very light mist that created almost 0.01" of moisture in the gauge. It is a bit breezy - a rather ugly morning so far.
10/2/2013 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Temp = 65.7°; Hum = 89%; Baro = 29.12" steady; Dew Pt. = 62.4°; The sun is breaking through cumulus clouds which cover about 50% of the sky. It is warmer and more humid than most mornings. We could use more rain.
10/3/2013 7:40 AM T M M M M Temp = 68.4°; Hum = 91%; Baro =29.03" steady; Dew Pt. = 65.7°; It is a little foggy with seamless blanket of stratus clouds above and a very muggy feeling. Rain is on the way.
10/4/2013 7:40 AM 0.57 M M M M Temp = 64.2°; Hum = 98%; Baro = 29.03" steady; Dew Pt. = 63.6°; Several rounds of thunderstorms and just rain surrounded drier periods with even a few peaks at the sun yesterday into the evening. The result was a nice soaking day of rain which helps the trees, shrubs, and lawns but is too late for the farmers.
10/5/2013 7:15 AM 0.02 M M M M Temp = 67.1°; Hum = 98%; Baro = 29.03" steady; Dew Pt. = 66.5°; It is cloudy and humid. We have been unusually warm and humid most of this week.
10/6/2013 7:15 AM 0.60 M M M M Temp = 55.8°; Hum = 98%; Baro = 28.82" steady; Dew Pt. = 55.2°; It is raining under a total cloud cover. Yesterday was warm and humid and did not rain until 4:30 pm after all our tree planting was done. By 9:30 pm, there was 0.34" of precipitation in the gauge.
10/7/2013 7:55 AM 0.28 M M M M Temp = 44.6°; Hum = 83%; Baro = 28.88" steady; Dew Pt. = 39.8°; It is sunny this morning with heavy dew on the grass and gauge. Yesterday morning we experienced rain showers which were a continuation of the rain from the day before. This morning is the first dew point in the 30's this fall.
10/8/2013 8:05 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Temp = 48.2°; Hum = 78%; Baro = 29.23" rising; Dew Pt. = 41.7°; Bright sun and a clear sky is the order of today. While there was 0.01+" of moisture in the gauge, I believe it was all due to the heavy dew this morning. Yesterday, the overcast in the morning and the 15-20 mph breeze made golf quite nippy, but then the skies cleared, the sun came out, and the golf was more pleasant.
10/9/2013 8:30 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Temp = 50.9°; Hum = 65%; Baro = 29.29" steady; Dew Pt. = 39.6°; Bright, clear, crisp morning with heavy dew and a fresh smell in the air - ah, the joys of living in the midwest in the fall!
10/10/2013 8:05 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Temp = 49.3°; Hum = 64%; Baro = 29.23" rising; Dew Pt. = 37.7°; Another crystal clear morning with significant dew and cool temperatures is at my doorstep. The trees are coming into full color. We have had a gorgeous fall so far.
10/11/2013 8:20 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Temp = 53.6°; Hum = 58%; Baro = 29.12" steady; Dew Pt. = 39.2°; How can we have so many gorgeous fall mornings in a row. It is bright, cloudless, beautiful. There is some dew on the grass.

1/1/2014 11:20 AM 0.14 2.2 0.15 3.0 M Temp = 22.1°; Hum = 63%; Baro = 29.18" falling; Dew Pt. = 12.6°; Snow fell lightly from about 4 pm until after mid-night. More is forecast for this afternoon.
1/2/2014 9:00 AM 0.17 2.7 0.23 5.0 M Temp = 16.7°; Hum = 68%; Baro = 29.09" rising; Dew Pt. = 8.9°; Snow continues to fall lightly with a forecast 2-5" of lake effect snow late afternoon and evening. With 5" now on the ground, it looks like a nice winter day.
1/3/2014 7:55 AM 0.20 5.1 0.20 10.0 M Temp = -2.0°; Hum = 63%; Baro = 30.15" steady; Dew Pt. = -10.6°; My it is cold. Light fluffy lake effect snow and a rising sun make for a beautiful morning.
1/4/2014 9:05 AM 0.00 0.0 M 6.0 M Temp = 28.9°; Hum = 51%; Baro = 29.71" rising; Dew Pt. = 14.8°; It is sunny and breezy. The winds and a day of settling have reduced the fluffy snow cover from yesterday's 10" to 6" this morning. Not having to shovel snow this morning is a blessing, but it will be short lived as we are under a winter weather advisory from this afternoon (Saturday)through Sunday night for 6-10" of new snow. For those of us who like to see snow, we are having a good year.
1/5/2014 9:10 AM 0.49 4.4 0.46 9.5 1.22 Temp = 31.3°; Hum = 85%; Baro = 29.74" steady; Dew Pt. = 27.8°; It is snowing. It has snowed. It will continue to snow today. 4.4" of heavy, wet snow has fallen in the last 24 hours with a total of possibly 12" of snow before this storm is over. There is 9.5" on the ground right now. I took a core sample of the snow on the ground today rather than wait until tomorrow (Monday) because of the forecast temperatures (-13° to -17°) and wind chills (-30° to -35°) for tomorrow morning. The info on the board and field cores is below.
1/6/2014 9:45 AM 0.66 10.0 1.31 15.0 M Temp = -6.5°; Hum = 82%; Baro = 29.97" rising; Dew Pt. = -10.2°; Now that is cold! The overnight low was -11.9. I was right to take my core sample from the field yesterday rather than today since the drifts from blowing snow range from 5" to 22" in my field with higher amounts in other areas. Snow measurements for the snow board and field are approximate averages from multiple readings. From about 1 pm to 10 pm yesterday, it was a real blizzard. We aren't going anywhere for a while since our cul de sac has not even been plowed yet in a city that is on the ball with plowing. Our furnace, which sets back to 60° at night and calls for 70° at 7:15 am has not yet caught up after 2.5 hours registering only 66° now. Dress in layers today.
1/7/2014 9:10 AM 0.00 0.0 M 15.0 M Temp = -2.2°; Hum = 82%; Baro = 30.09" rising; Dew Pt. = -5.9°; It did not snow yesterday, it is sunny, and it only got down to -10.8° last night. We are improving! However, it is still bitterly cold. There was some snow that blew around in the wind that got on the snow board and a few crystals in the gauge, but there was no snow that fell. The total snow measurement is a real guess because of the wide variations in drifting from January 5. It ranges between 6" and 24+". 15" is a good guess. The street is finally plowed. Can the garbage truck be far behind?!
1/8/2014 9:20 AM 0.00 0.0 M 15.0 M Temp = 11.1°; Hum = 82%; Baro = 30.18" rising; Dew Pt. = 7.2°; The sun is filtering through cirrus clouds and the temperature is rising quickly to a 'balmy' 11.1°. With little or no wind, it is a welcome relief to the sub-zero temperatures from Sunday night through Tuesday.
1/9/2014 9:50 AM T T M 15.0 M Temp = 16.7°; Hum = 76%; Baro = 30.24" steady; Dew Pt. = 11.1°; It is a bright, cloudy sky with sun filtering through the clouds. We had an overnight low of 1.0°, but from here it temperatures should rise to above freezing over the next couple of days. We had a few flakes float down yesterday afternoon, but I had more bird poop than snow in the gauge this morning.
1/10/2014 8:25 AM 0.02 0.4 M 12.5 M Temp = 33.6°' Hum = 98%; Baro = 29.85" steady; Dew Pt. = 33.1°;
1/11/2014 8:25 AM 0.95 0.0 M 8.5 M Temp = 36.7°; Hum = 98%; Baro = 29.23" rising; Dew Pt. = 36.2°; Much rain over the last 24 hours combined with melting snow and frozen ground is causing some flooding on the roads.
1/12/2014 9:10 AM T 0.0 M 6.5 M Temp = 30.9°; Hum = 98%; Baro = 29.71" rising; Dew Pt. = 30.5°; It is cloudy and below freezing for the first time in a couple of days. The melting of the snow cover continues.
1/13/2014 9:20 AM T 0.0 M 5.5 1.73 Temp = 43.5°; Hum 64%; Baro = 29.41" steady; Dew Pt. = 32.2°; It is cloudy with just a few peaks at the sun. From radar it looks like we had a few sprinkles early in the morning and I did have a trace of rain in the gauge. The melting of the snow cover continues with above freezing temperatures with spots of grass starting to peak through the drifts. I estimate from multiple readings that there is an average of approximately 5.5" of snow left. That 5.5" of snow is loaded with 1.73" of liquid precipitation - almost 3:1.
1/14/2014 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M 5.0 M Temp = 26.8°; Hum = 86%; Baro = 29.44" falling; Dew Pt. = 23.6°; Bright sun is rising over a colder morning with some clouds. Yesterday the melting continued as we lost another 0.5" of snow cover, but now we are below freezing and the forecast is for some additional snow.
1/15/2014 8:40 AM 0.02 1.3 0.03 6.0 M Temp = 20.7°; Hum = 66%; Baro = 29.83" rising; Dew Pt. = 12.2°; A cold front has come through dropping temperatures and bringing a coat of white snow (1.3") to freshen the landscape and make the yard look clean. A few flakes flutter by this forenoon with foolish fury.
1/16/2014 8:25 AM 0.01 0.1 M 5.5 M Temp = 26.2°; Hum = 70%; Baro = 29.41" falling; Dew Pt. = 18.7°; A little bit of snow fell and was blown by the wind so that it covers about a half of the drive area. It is difficult to measure, but I think we got 0.1" of snow on average. On the snow board most of the snow has blown off, but in the gauge, there was enough snow to provide 0.01" of liquid precipitation. It is below freezing and the breeze makes it feel colder.
1/17/2014 8:40 AM 0.04 1.0 M 5.5 M Temp = 17.8°; Hum = 59%; Baro = 29.59" rising; Dew Pt. = 7.2°; An inch of light fluffy snow fell yesterday in a series of several flurries. The water content is minimal yielding a 25 to 1 ratio.
2/4/2014 9:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M 10.0 M Temp = 16.3°; Hum = 56%; Baro = 20.18" steady; Dew Pt. = 4.7°; After being gone for 2.5 weeks, we came back to drifted snow across my snow field ranging from 4" to 18". The average is approximately 10" with ice underneath the snow. The overnight low was 5.5°. I submitted a multi-day report yesterday afternoon.
2/5/2014 8:35 AM 0.42 6.3 0.66 14.5 M Temp = 24.6°; Hum = 78%; Baro = 29.83" rising; Dew Pt. = 19.4°; Starting about 5 pm yesterday, light snow began to fall with an accumulation of about 1.5-2.0" by 10:30 pm. Overnight the wind picked up and snow was falling at a moderate rate at 7:45 am this morning. It has begun to taper off in the last hour. It is difficult to get accurate snow fall totals for new snow fall as well as total snow on the ground because the drifting has only been exaggerated with this last snow. The entire yard has anywhere from 11.5" to 21+" on it. Even the snow board measurement of 6.3" is an average of several readings between 4.5" and 7". Snow this year has reached and surpassed many records - and it is only the beginning of February! Getting an accurate core value of total snow seems pointless to me at this point because of the extreme variability in depths. Sorry about that.
2/6/2014 8:20 AM 0.04 2.6 M 15.0 M Temp = 1.0°; Hum = 69%; Baro = 30.15" rising; Dew Pt. = -6.0°; It is a sunny morning after a day which brought us another 2.6" of snow on the snow board. Again, there is difficulty in measuring both the new snowfall and total snowfall due to drifting. The 0.04" of precipitation in the gauge is accurate. However, when I proceeded to melt the snow from the snow board core sample, I poured in warm water without recording the amount messing up the sample. By that time, I had also cleared the snow board. Sorry about that. The total snow measurement is a real guesstimate based on several readings in my heavily drifted yard.
2/7/2014 8:20 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 15.0 M Temp = -2.6°; Hum = 50%; Baro = 30.15" steady; Dew Pt. = -15.3°; We have a clear sky and bright sun this morning which accounts for rapidly rising temperatures. In the last 15 minutes we have come up from -4.2° to -2.6°! Man, that is cold. I did not detect any wind while I was outside briefly. If there was, it would be really brutal. The overnight low was -8.9°. Measuring total snow on the ground, I noted 19", 18", 18", 11", 12", 11.5". I am calling it 15" as an average.
2/8/2014 7:55 AM T T M 15.0 M Temp = 9.7°; Hum = 46%; Baro = 30.00" steady; Dew Pt. = -5.3°; A few fluffy flakes are fluttering through the frigid air to the terra firma. That means that there are only very light snow flurries happening at the time of observation. From the snow in the driveway, it looks like these flurries started recently. It is so cold that the fluffy snow squeaks when you walk.
2/9/2014 9:05 AM 0.13 3.2 0.14 17.0 M Temp = 19.9°; Hum = 66%; Baro = 29.91" rising; Dew Pt. = 11.4°; Yesterday morning, I woke up to light to moderate snow flurries. During the day, there were light to moderate snow flurries. I checked last night at 10:30 pm and saw light to moderate snow flurries. This morning as I cleared the driveway there were light to moderate snow flurries. It is all light and fluffy flakes. Winter just keeps coming. I had difficulty measuring total snow again because of the drifting.
2/10/2014 8:30 AM T T M 16.0 M Temp = -0.9°; Hum = 48%; Baro = 30.12" rising; Dew Pt. = -15.2°; It is a sunny, seriously frigid morning with frost and ice clinging to tree branches and surfaces. We did have a few flakes of snow during the morning yesterday, but there was no accumulation. The arctic grip of winter maintains its icy grasp on our region. Getting a core value from the snow on the ground remains problematic because of the variation caused by drifting.
2/11/2014 8:25 AM 0.00 0.0 M 16.0 M Temp = -0.8°; Hum = 46%; Baro = 30.27" rising; Dew Pt. = -15.1°; Clear sky and bright sunlight with sub-zero temperature is the order of the day once again this morning. The overnight low was -10.1°. There has been no chance for the snow to melt with temperatures like these for more than a month.
2/12/2014 9:20 AM 0.00 0.0 M 15.0 M Temp = 7.7°; Hum = 39%; Baro = 30.06" steady; Dew Pt. = -10.2°; It is a mostly cloudy and cold morning. The overnight low was -0.9°. I am looking forward to the forecast thaw next week.
2/13/2014 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M 15.0 M Temp = 11.1°; Hum = 48%; Baro = 29.62" falling; Dew Pt. = -3.2°; The sun is filtering through some clouds as we begin to pull out of the persistent 0° range. We need some melting.
2/14/2014 8:50 AM T T M 15.0 M Temp = 15.8°; Hum = 57%; Baro = 28.64" rising; Dew Pt. = 4.6°; We have complete cloud cover this morning. There were a few flakes yesterday afternoon that amounted virtually nothing in the gauge.
2/15/2014 8:40 AM 0.01 0.2 0.01 14.5 M Temp = 19.8°; Hum = 55%; Baro = 29.00" steady; Dew Pt. = 10.5°; A few evening snow flurries left a dusting (0.2") of snow on the heavy cover of snow already on the ground. The ground cover of snow has refused to melt in the near zero temperatures of the last month.
2/16/2014 9:05 AM 0.04 0.9 0.04 15.5 M Temp = 22.3°; Hum = 67%; Baro = 29.09" rising; Dew Pt. = 14.0°; Small flakes of snow are still flying this morning even though most of the snow fell yesterday evening. Temperatures have been in the 20's for a couple of days which is a welcome relief from the -10° to 10° for most of the last couple of weeks.
2/17/2014 8:00 AM T T T 14.5 M Temp = 23.0°; Hum = 61%; Baro = 29.06" falling; Dew Pt. = 12.8°; Clouds are darkest in the northwest where a winter storm is approaching which is forecast to dump 4-8" of snow on us today. While radar shows snow showers in our area already, I do not see any evidence of snow yet. The trace of snow I am reporting comes from the bit of snow that fell after my reading yesterday morning.
2/18/2014 8:30 AM 0.38 4.2 0.37 17.5 M Temp = 28.6°; Hum = 75%; Baro = 28.91" rising; Dew Pt. = 22.5°; Sunny

Bright sunshine and temperatures well into the 40's combined to make it a great day to be outside after so much cold and snow. Melting is continuing this morning and is predicted to be complicated by more than one inch of rain tonight into tomorrow. We are under a flash flood advisory.
2/20/2014 8:40 AM 1.31 0.0 0.00 11.0 M Temp = 36.0°; Hum = 86%; Baro = 28.64" falling; Dew Pt. = 32.2°; At 5:44 am, I was awakened by thunder and strong rain. It continued for a couple of hours as I dozed off and on. I was surprised by the 1.31" in the gauge. It is still raining now with more on the way according to radar. The melting continues with yesterday's high reaching well into the 50's.
2/21/2014 9:10 AM 0.19 T T 8.0 M Temp = 31.8°; Hum = 75%; Baro = 28.56" rising; Dew Pt. = 25.6°; After a night and day with heavy rain (some rain falling after my morning reading yesterday) with winds picking up and an evening temperature spike up to 51.1°, this morning has dropped below freezing. We are under a wind advisory for most of today and the current winds are between 25 to 30 mph with gusts approaching 50 mph. Much of the snow on the ground has melted with the remaining 8" made up mostly of ice at this point. A few flakes of snow are flying this morning.
2/22/2014 8:10 AM 0.00 0.0 M 8.5 M Temp = 26.2°; Hum = 57%; Baro = 28.94" rising; Dew Pt. = 14.5°; It is sunny but cold this morning. The melting has stopped for a while, which is probably good to avoid flooding.
2/23/2014 8:25 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 8.5 M Temp = 22.3°; Hum = 49%; Baro = 29.12" rising; Dew Pt. = 7.8°; It is cloudy and cold. The significant melting of last week is being replaced by another artic blast this week. The snow on the ground is hard, icy, and dirty. At the end of February, I am ready for it to melt, but it looks like I will have to wait until March.
2/24/2014 8:20 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 7.0 1.97 Temp = 16.0°; Hum = 54%; Baro = 29.18" rising; Dew Pt. = 3.7°; It is sunny and cold. The temperature began dropping yesterday afternoon. I noticed that we dropped 5° in one hour. It has been a while since I took a core sample of total snow because of the drifting. Now, after significant thawing, 1.5" of rain on the snow last week, and refreezing, I made the effort to find a location that would approximate the 7" average of snow left on the ground. The spot where I took my core sample was not in my usual snow field. It was very icy and hard this morning. The 7" of ground snow yielded 1.97" of water - a 3.74 to 1 ratio.
2/25/2014 8:30 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 6.0 M Temp = 21.0°; Hum = 51%; Baro = 29.15" steady; Dew Pt. = 7.3°; It is partly cloudy with some sun affecting the cold. It is approximately 15-17° colder than the average high for today.
2/26/2014 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 6.0 M Temp = 5.0°; Hum = 45%; Baro = 29.12" steady; Dew Pt. = -10.1°; It is sunny and frigid this morning. The overnight low was 1.2°. Winds picked up last night making the cold feel even colder. Currently, the winds are blowing at 10 mph. The frozen tundra seems to continue as spring time knocks at the door.
2/27/2014 8:30 AM T T T 6.0 M Temp = 9.9°; Hum = 46%; Baro = 28.91" rising; Dew Pt. = -5.1°; Now that's what I like - 13 mph winds gusting to 35 mph to go along with 9.9°! Checking the gauge was cccooolllddd - like walking on the moon over the crusted, icy snow which remains. There was some snow in the gauge, not enough to measure, but no snow on the snow board. The wind had cleared the board clean. Spring is coming when?
2/28/2014 8:20 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 6.0 M Temp = 8.4°; Hum = 36%; Baro = 29.15" steady; Dew Pt. = -11.0°; It is mostly cloudy and entirely cold this morning. One day before March and it is 8.4° with an overnight low of -2.8°???!!! C'mon! It was not as windy last night.
3/1/2014 8:30 AM T T T 5.5 M Temp = 28.4°; Hum = 60%; Baro = 29.06" rising; Dew Pt. = 17.6°; A dusting of small snow flakes greets us this morning. The portend the snow to come tonight and Sunday. And winter continues on.

This is not a ferocious storm, but rather it is a relentless snow that just keeps accumulating with more to come. It is getting rather difficult to get to the snow gauge with 5" of ice under the new, fluffy 4.8" of snow.
3/3/2014 9:25 AM 0.02 0.4 0.01 9.0 2.83 Temp = 18.0°; Hum = 51%; Baro = 29.41" rising; Dew Pt. = 4.5°; We had light flurries for most of yesterday that amounted to only 0.4" on the snowboard. I know in the driveway we had at least 1"+ of snow after yesterday's measurement, but wind and evaporation reduced that total. I tried to get an accurate total snow core this morning as suggested, but I could not get through the last 1" of ice that is now on top of the ground. The snow is very hard and crusty under the most recent snow and the bottom inch cannot be penetrated easily for measurement. I did measure 2.33" melted core value and then added 0.5" to account for the dense ice at the bottom.
3/4/2014 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 9.0 M Temp = 13.3°; Hum = 38%; Baro = 29.21" steady; Dew Pt. = -5.5°; While radar shows some scattered snow in the area, I do not see (and have not reported) any snow fall in the last 24 hours. The overnight low was 5.5°. March 5; NW Indiana; 5.5°!!!; Really?!!!
3/5/2014 8:25 AM 0.05 1.0 0.07 9.0 M Temp = 22.5°; Hum = 56%; Baro = 29.29" rising; Dew Pt. = 10.6°; Moderate snow is falling and will continue to fall for several hours. We have received 1" of snow so far and expect about 3" in total. It looks pretty . . . pretty much like what we have seen all winter.
3/6/2014 8:25 AM 0.04 0.2 0.02 9.0 M Temp = 21.4°; Hum = 51%; Baro = 29.26" rising; Dew Pt. = 7.7°; It is a sunny morning after a day when we had moderate snow tapering off to light snow then an occasional flurry by noon. The snowboard only records 0.2" of snow this morning, but more fell after my reading yesterday and then settled and melted back to 0.2". The snow on the ground is still so variable with the drifting and blowing that it is difficult to get an accurate average for my yard. My normal snow field has had a big drift (19" now) for weeks and is completely inaccurate. I am calling it a 9" average, but I hope this weekend's warming trend melts it all (fat chance) or at least a good deal of it. It is March. Let's be done with the snow that first fell in late November.

However, I am still listing the total snow at 6" because there is still substantial snow of 5" to 8" around most of the yard with addition drifts of 15"+ and the snow at the bottom, which originally fell in November, is mainly ice and difficult to melt. Today, we should reach well into the 50's and reduce the snow pack more before cold and snow return on Tuesday night. It is just impossible for me to get an accurate melted core for total snow due to ice at the bottom and the substantial variability of the snow cover in my yard. Sorry.
3/11/2014 8:20 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 3.5 M Temp = 37.9°; Hum = 66%; Baro = 28.61" steady; Dew Pt. = 28.1°; It is cloudy this morning after a spectacularly sunny day yesterday which reached 59.2°. The overnight low stayed above freezing at 37.0°. We have had substantial melting of the total snow cover with two patches of green grass now showing in the yard. Yet snow drifts of 12+" still are common in my yard. I am calling it an average of 3.5". There is a snow storm warning forecast for tonight with 4" to 8" on the way. Just a drop in the bucket this winter.
3/12/2014 9:00 AM 0.68 4.5 M 9.5 M Temp = 29.5°; Hum = 95%; Baro = 29.56" rising; Dew Pt. = 28.6°; I noted that my barometric pressure readings in the last few days were significantly off from weather reporting stations in our area. This morning I reset our altitude at 820' on my Oregon Scientific Weather Station 5 and seems to have corrected this error. My air pressure readings for the past few days may be inaccurate. A major storm has passed through our area starting as rain late in the evening and then blowing and drifting snow which is now just ending. My usually representative snow field in years past was once again the victim of a 10+" drift over the snow board. A snowboard core sample is meaningless. The more accurate reading, I believe, comes from the driveway which measured 4-5" except for the 1.5' drift by the garage door. I am calling it 4.5" of snow. Take your pick on total snow and ice because of the significant drifting in my yard. I am calling it 9.5".
3/13/2014 8:55 AM T T T 8.0 M Temp = 18.0°; Hum = 68%; Baro = 29.94" rising; Dew Pt. = 10.2°; Even though we have bright sunshine, isn't it supposed to be a little warmer by now? The overnight low was 7.2°. The snow that fell yesterday was the worst snow for shoveling all year - wet, sticky, heavy, clogging the snow blower. There was just a few flurries that fell after I reported yesterday.

The threat of thundershowers never became a reality. There are heavy rains to our north as a front promises to drop down late today and evening. We shall see.
6/19/2014 8:25 AM 0.23 M M M M Temp = 66.0°; Hum = 98%; Baro = 29.94" steady; Dew Pt. = 65.4°; Fog blankets our area as a stationary front rests on top of us. Last night, we changed to the cooler side of the front after a warm and humid day. We turned off the AC and opened the windows even with light rain in the area. A total of 0.23" of precipitation fell into our yard during the periodic showers yesterday.
6/20/2014 8:05 AM 1.21 M M M M Temp = 69.8°; Hum = 98%; Baro = 29.88" steady; Dew Pt. = 69.2°; A significant rain fell from yesterday evening into the overnight hours posting 1.21" in the gauge. I was surprised when I checked the gauge this morning because I figured we had .2" to .3" before I went to bed at 10:30 pm based on the intensity and duration of rain during the evening. Some lightening accompanied the rain last evening.
6/21/2014 8:05 AM T M M M M Temp = 65.7°; Hum = 98%; Baro = 29.88" steady; Dew Pt. = 65.1°; Fog was dense at 4:30 am, but it was dissipating at 8:05 am when I took my reading. There were just a couple of drops of rain yesterday. Yesterday was in the high 80's and humid.
6/22/2014 8:25 AM 1.13 M M M M Temp = 68.0°; Hum = 98%; Baro = 29.85" steady; Dew Pt. = 67.4°; We have bright sun and cool but humid temperatures this morning after a day with a couple of downpours. The first downpour occurred around 3 pm and contributed 0.30" to the total. The second was a much bigger thunderstorm with high winds and torrents of rain causing street flooding. I think we may have caught up with our rain deficit. Certainly, our newly planted shrubs, flowers, and lawns have had substantial rain this June.
6/24/2014 7:45 AM 1.55 M M M M Temp = 68.9°; Hum = 98%; Baro = 29.80" steady; Dew Pt. = 68.3°; A steady rain is falling and has been falling since early morning. My dry pond in the back yard continues to be filled with the excessive rain we have had in the past week.
6/26/2014 7:55 AM T M M M M Temp = 61.7°; Hum = 98%; Baro = 29.94" steady; Dew Pt. = 61.1°; It is a foggy, cool morning. I don't know when the trace of rain occurred, but I chose to submit a 'trace' rather than conclude that it was dew or left over from the previous day. A cold front moved through our area yesterday dropping temperatures and prompting us to turn off the AC and open the windows. Today will be the perfect day to mulch the beds. Eight square yards of mulch should do it.

The rain came in two major waves of strong thunderstorms - one around 7 pm and the other at 9:45 pm. The first dropped about 0.60". There was an earlier rain shower that just dropped a few hundredths of an inch. The major thunderstorms included strong, gusty winds and relentless sheets of rain which lasted less than an hour each.

9/1/2014 8:50 AM 0.01 M M M M Temp = 73.6°; Hum = 98%; Baro = 28.91" steady; Dew Pt. = 73.0°; A blanket of clouds stretches across our area this morning to begin a damp, close day. The moisture in the gauge is from sprinkles, I believe, rather than just the heavy dew, but it is difficult to tell in this very humid weather.
9/2/2014 7:50 AM 0.09 M M M M Temp = 70.2°; Hum = 91%; Baro = 28.97" steady; Dew pt. = 67.5°; It has been a real question of whether to open the windows or use air conditioning with temperatures that are not too high but with high humidity making the dew point reach above 65° on a regular basis. This morning is damp and very 'close'.
9/3/2014 8:20 AM 0.08 M M M M Temp = 65.5°; Hum = 76%; Baro = 29.15" steady; Dew Pt. = 59.5°; Bright sunshine is the order of the day with heavy dew once again this morning. Because of the regular rain we have had all summer, it is impossible to have dinner on the deck or work comfortably in the yard because of the mosquitoes. I have never seen so many.
9/4/2014 7:45 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Temp = 69.3°; Hum = 73%; Baro = 29.12" steady; Dew Pt. = 60.3°; It is partly sunny with a chance of rain.

I first heard the heavy rain at 6:15 am, but it could have been falling prior to that time. It looks like the heaviest portion of this event has passed, but we still have some hours of rain yet. We have a 100% chance of rain forecast for the rest of the day.
9/11/2014 8:20 AM 0.38 M M M M Temp = 54.0°; Hum = 82%; Baro = 29.12" rising; Dew Pt. = 48.6°; It is dark and overcast this morning and considerably cooler. Long sleeves and long pants replace the summer wear from the past months. Our total rain from the event which started in the early hours of Wednesday was 0.85" + 0.38" = 1.23".
9/12/2014 8:40 AM 0.05 M M M M Temp = 52.5°; Hum = 98%; Baro = 29.39" steady; Dew Pt. = 52.0°; The temperature was in the 50's all day yesterday with an overnight low of 51.3°. Sprinkles off and on yesterday accounted for the 0.05" in the gauge. This morning is dark, damp, and dreary.
9/13/2014 7:30 AM 0.15 M M M M Temp = 46.9°; Hum = 98%; Baro = 29.26" steady; Dew Pt. = 46.4°; It is mostly cloudy and damp with a couple of peeks at the sun so far. The overnight low was 46.0°. Light rain after 8 pm accounted for the 0.15" in the gauge.

10/22/2013 10/25/2013 8:30 AM 4 0.14 T M The precipitation total represents a total of rain and snow flurries over a four day period. Snow flurries were predicted while we were away as well as rain. I did see a few flakes of snow last night about 9:15 pm.
1/18/2014 2/03/2014 11:30 AM 17 1.13 10.0 M We have been gone for 16 days during which time there have been several snow events. My neighbor says that there has been quite a bit of snow (20"+) and also some rain. My usual snow field has a drift of 17" across it, but judging from the rest of the yard, it seems to be about an average of 10". The yard is quite variable as well with measurements from 4" to 18" of snow on the ground. This makes taking a core reading impossible in my estimation. My gauge reading may not be accurate as well since I may have missed some snow if the gauge was full of snow when to the next snow event occurred. When I took the reading it was almost full of snow. My gauge also had more than average bird poop in it. Good luck with this data!
3/15/2014 3/23/2014 9:30 AM 9 0.51 T T While we were gone to Arizona last week, all the drifts and snow which had fallen in November finally melted. This morning we have a light dusting of snow which fell overnight just to remind us. There are a few flakes falling now.
7/5/2014 7/08/2014 8:00 AM 4 0.11 M M It is currently raining lightly as a shower is dying out. 0.05" of rain fell between the morning of July 4 and the afternoon of July 7. The remaining 0.06" fell last night and this morning before 8:20 am July 8.
8/23/2014 8/28/2014 7:00 PM 6 1.36 M M We are back after being gone for a week.
