Around midnight we had a tornado warning until 12:45 a.m. I heard thunder slowly getting closer, but we were not in the middle of the storm. After 7:00, it started to snow, then ice, then snow. After scaring 3/4's of NC, we only have 11/4" of light, fluffy snow with a thin skim of ice underneath. There might have been more rain than .18 because for about 2-3 minutes the rain was blowing sideways. Watching the radar on my iPad I could see the shape of the storm. It appeared that Beulaville was actually in a green area as opposed to the yellow and orange. The rain started as a drizzle around 12:30 p.m. Monday. It actually rained for a short while, then went back to drizzle. It must have rained later at night or early morning because of the .31" in gauge. I never heard sleet or saw freezing rain. When I opened the drapes, the road on our cul-de-sac was dry. Didn't see ice on trees or walkway. Had to drive to Goldsbore and noticed that 20 minutes from my location the roads were wet. No black ice. On I-70 ice or a mix of snow and ice was plowed at the edges of the road. The temp on Monday dropped from 57 at 10:00 to 37 by 5:00. I have no idea what happened but tried to correct the date of the report, but it still is showing as the 5th under my reports. |

At 1:30 it began to drizzle. Went out and could see that three miles south it had to have rained harder because the road was wet and there were large puddles. Didn't get back home until 5:30 and it was a gentle rain. It never rained hard enough to hear it on the metal porch roof. Around 10:30 p.m. It got very windy but no rain was lashing against the house. It was windy past midnight, when I fell asleep. At 6:06 a.m. it was raining hard, but still not a downpour. It must have rained hard while I was asleep if it accumulated that much rain. It does not flood on our street. Neighbors' ditches probably have water in them but ours drains down slope. |

Couldn't go out at 8 a.m. Had to wait until it was only drizzling. Wind has picked up a bit. The flooding is unusual in our yard only because our burn pile area looks like a small pond. I clear it out twice a year and it was just done a few weeks ago. I'm sure our neighbors' drainage ditches are full and their yards quite wet. Hasn't stopped raining completely yet.
