The local high school track meet was cancelled half way through due to the bad weather.

2/12/2014 8:00 AM 0.19 2.3 0.19 2.3 0.19 At time of reading it is 27 deg and overcast. Yesterday the snow started at 7:00 am with big, fluffy flakes.there was a lul in the snowfall around 8:00 am. The schools had called for a three hour early dismissal the evening prior. By 9:00 am the schools bumped that dismissal up another 30 minutes. The large snowflakes continued until late afternoon. With the warmer temps, the snow was perfect for building snowmen and the roads stayed wet but not icy. This morning I measured 2.25" of snow with an icy bottom (took measurement from patio table top). The snow melt in gauge measured .19"
2/13/2014 8:45 AM 0.58 7.0 M 8.0 1.58 The snow started at 8:45 and continued thought the day. By 2:00 pm it was more of a pelting freezing rain and wind. Not so fun anymore. Schools were cancelled, and most businesses closed around 1:00. The roads were definitely getting slippery by 10:30 am. During the evening hours. And into the middle of the night you could hear the freezing rain pelting the windows. Small tree branches were downed. The temp hovered around 25 deg all day Wednesday. At time of reading this morning, it was 32 deg and a light rain/freezing rain. The rain gauge was completed iced over. When brought inside to melt, it measured .58". I believe this is way under the actual due to the wind in the afternoon stated earlier and freeing rain may of just bounced off of the frozen gauge. When attempting to get a 4" core sample this morning, I had to break through the .75" ice layer first. After melting this 8" of snow and ice, it measured 1.53"

2/19/2014 6:45 AM 0.40 M M M M Tuesday turned out to be a sunny, warm afternoon reaching 60+deg. At time of reading today it was 53 deg! A HUGE thunder and lightning storm rolled through last night from about 1:00 - 2:00 am. Load and bright! The rain sounded real heavy at times, but I don't think it was raining the entire time the storm was here. If I am off on my storm time, the start might have been later. I thought the clock said a little after one, but it might have been later. It definitely was rolling out at 2:05. Am. We still have a little snow in the area that doesn't receive direct sun light - even with the warm temp and rain. It certainly won't make it through today, though. The ground is very saturated!

You could here it on the metal roof. My husband, who was at home, was so shocked that he texted me about it. The daffodils are in full bloom, the peach tree had flower buds, the saucer magnolia is in full bloom; it's spring time!

5/24/2014 6:15 AM 0.39 M M M M I arrived home at 6:35 pm and noticed that the ground was wet from a very recent rain. I was told that a short, strong storm had just come through with another on the way. Hail immediately began to fail, picking up intensity quickly. The hail started off slightly larger than pea size and got larger. It was windy, heavy rain and th der. The hail stopped at 6:49 and the rain lightened up and the sun foug to come out, producing a double rainbow ( the secondary was faint, while the primary was vibrant). The rain had completely stopped by 7:00pm. No further precipitation. Rainwater puddled up in the yard during the rainfall but was quickly absorbed once the rain stopped.

At 10:10 pm we went outside to cut off all of the flowers from our small crepe myrtle tree because it was drooped and touching the ground. So much (needed) rain.
