Rain fell around 9am in form of a brief shower. Rest of day was partly cloudy and warm. We dodged two bullets when more tornados went north of here in Wayne, NE and into Iowa--and a second severe storm was south of here and into Iowa. Gusty winds with Cold air started to move in around 9pm and it was 42 and partly to mostly sunny with steady breeze this am. |

7 and partly cloudy. Weather started as a brief rain around 10am-freezing immediately to any surface--cars were iced and sidewalks /road surfaces too. This was followed by periods of spitting sleet to snow "balls" to snow flakes till around 5pm when most of the snow started to fall Winds were quite gusty the whole time so snow blew everywhere. Had areas of one inch to half inch to bare areas on drive. Roads were a little dicey with thin ice layer early on. Seems to me that it is odd that snow was so dense that melted snow and measured snow values were so closed. |

Since I measured a little later yesterday my values might be off the others as snow continued to fall on and off till late evening. it is 0 this am and sunny and clear. I forgot to do my core sample on the new snow--I threw the snow off before I remembered to do it. Still learning this snow measuring thing!

12 sunny and clear with wind gusts. Yesterday was quite something wind-wise. We had in the area mainly 50mph wind gusts but some recorded 60mph gusts--mainly in the mid-afternoon. Lots of dust and dirt "sandblasted" your car as you were driving. But starting around 8:45 yesterday morning the wind suddenly picked up and it was steady with these high wind gusts thrown in regularly. Occasionally a snow shower passed by but it wasn't till early evening to mid-evening did it snow hard enough to accumulate on grass and driveway. Winds were still in the 30mph range into the night. Few dead small tree limbs down and another semi was blown over--but no other major damage. Snow is gauge probably inaccurate due to winds..but total on ground only amounted to 1/16th last night. Only a trace left this morning. There was just barely a trace of old snow on the ground yesterday--old snow piles finally melting down and about gone. |

At first it rained for a few minutes, then it sleeted, then it snowed(vertically since wind was so bad)--then it ended and the sun briefly came out!! Crazy weather. Initial was snow rain sleet then sleet balls and tiny snow balls-then it turned into huge wet snow flakes that fell to approximately 2 inches within 3 hours. Very heavy wet snow. By noon temps were climbing and snow was melting/compacting. This am I measured 1/4 on average of frozen crusted snow on the ground. Cylinder was just full of ice vs snow. 0.26 includes rain and snow. |

Then around 5:40 we went outside(knowing there was a tornadic super cell headed out way) to move cars and I saw my first ever mammatus clouds!! They are truly amazing. By six we were hearing constant thunder off to the west, sw and lightening was picking up--mainly cloud to ground. By seven things went crazy here as super cell closed in and West Omaha took the brundt of it. We had heavy rain, high winds--which might be why my gauge reading was lower) but no hail or damage. Thunder and lightening was constant--quite the experience. Very little in terms of damage--just a few small dead branches in yards--and we maintained our power. NWS coming to check out three areas for possible tornados--one of which is in west Omaha-in Elkhorn. |

68 and cloudy. Wow what a night. storms hit around approx 8pm with continuous lightening and gusting winds and torrential rains. I was unable to leave restaurant I was in for over an hour and a half. When we finally got out at 9:30 roads were like rivers. The parking lot had several areas with cars flooded to the bottom of the car. Several intersections were flooded on the way home. When i got home the heavens let loose with more torrential rain--but by then i discovered my basement was taking on water and the wet vac and i went to work till close to 1 am when we lost power. around 11 I went outside and saw the gauge was almost halfway full on the outer cylinder while I was making sure my gutters were not clogged and were trying to drain away from the house. We got hit with another round that carried a high wind gust front. By 1:30am I went to bed--water had slowed to a trifle in the basement but it was still raining out. This morning there are several small branches down and one hugh silver maple fell across the street up the way. Omaha has several areas still flooded and many peoples basements that rarely take on water took it on last night. |

64 and partly cloudy-mainly to the south. Storms rolled in last night around 1:15-2am. Lots of lightening gusting winds and torrents of rain. I cannot believe no one else got as much rain as us--it just poured here for at least a half hour. No damage--just some heavy tomato cages fell over! |

72 and cloudy. Rained overnight again. It is with sadness that I have taken my last Cocorahs measurement in Nebraska. We were to be here 3 years but a turn of fate has us leaving for Indiana. The moving vans are here and we leave tomorrow. I look forward to setting up shop in Indiana once the dust settles! Thanks Cocorahs Nebraska. |
