there were ice pellets coming down when I got up this morning. Tiny stuff, larger than table salt and smaller than kosher salt. Bare ground and elevated surfaces are starting to show a coating of this ice. Roads, at least my driveway and the street in front don't seem to be accumulating ice or any substantial standing water, it just looks damp in places. All this portends hazardous travel if it keeps up or gets worse. At 0700 this morning these conditions prevail. |

Started yesterday about 3pm with a bit of freezing rain i.e. froze on contact with elevated objects and cars. Warmed up and switched to plain rain. At the moment it is still raining and above freezing but there were icicles on the rain gauge and a skim of ice inside, my car windshields are free of ice however. Nothing in the gauge but there is a 0.10 inch coat of ice on fencing, trees and other elevated surfaces. Strangely enough the sidewalk and street out front are clear of ice as well as my car's windshield. Radar shows precip approaching from the west so things will be dicey soon. Lots of schools etc are delaying openings as much as 3 hours or closing all together. I know you folks in more northern climes will laugh at that but most people down here don't have a clue and end up in ditches or wrapped around poles and trees or each other. Last night there was a frozen or freezing mist coming down gently and accumulating on the streets and sidewalks but that seems to have sublimated away in the wee hours this morning. |

At 0600 this morning the street out front was not frozen over, just damp. There has been a freezing mist over night and from what I can tell it looks like the wind was out of the NNE as that is the side of poles, trees, etc that have a coat of knobby ice at most 1/10 of an inch thick. There was more ice on the outside of my gauge than inside. |

I can't say how much snow fell as my board was blown askew by the wind. That said, At the time of yesterdays report it started snowing very very lightly small hard flakes that were seen to blow like dust across the roads. Around 11am we started to get frozen rain or possibly micro hail and thunder, the frozen precip punched ho;es in the little snow cover we had. This frozen precip was as scattered as the snow fall just came down faster. At my station the precip switched from snow to micro hail as the day went on along with perioods of thunder. No more accumulation of ice was noted and the ice that was there sublimated away for the most part, at least that which wasn't covered by the little bit os now we have. The Snow doesn't cover the grass and I'd estimate it to be a quarter of an inch. While it did snow heavier at times times, it never was more than moderate to light. |

I can't say prceisely when the rain came at went at my station as I was 2.8 miles ENE away from there. That said at about noon we satrted to get some rain drops and dampening of the sidewalks and shortly there after it developed into a pretty heavey rain. This kept up for and hour or so and the tapered off and pretty well stoped by 3:30pm. More threatened but did not continue. |

At 5:22PM local it started to sprinkle a bit till 5:35 when it stopped. Started again at 6PM as a very light rain and kept that up for foryfive minutes or so. Not much after that till this morning. At 6:00AM there was no sign of recent rain on my sidewalk. Shortly after that it started to sprinkle a bit and progressed to a light Rain which is still going on. Radar loop shows promise of more and heavier rain in the Offing. Bring it on please. Maybe we can get up graded from Extreme to severe Drought. |

Good rain, had 0.38 by noon yesterday and the rest since then. Pretty much sprinkled/drizzle/rained all day. A good share of what fell on open ground soaked in as it was slow enough not to run off. A goos rain and we need more that will run off to fill the stock tanks and lakes. Our two lakes are 73% below capacity last I checked. |

Tailend of yesterdays rain. Total of 1.02 inches for the last storm to pass through. We could use one like that once a week for the rest of the year. We are at or very near drought stage five and very near using reverse osmosis treated sewage water to augment our potable water supply. Despartate efforts to stave off complete exhaustion of our resevoirs. I might point out that the well water around here is rather briney and heavey in minerals.

This sucks, we have started our summer 10 hr work days ( yea we get Friday off) but I can't make the observation at 7am so you all will have to take my reports with a grain of salt ontil mid August. No Rain in the last 24 but as I drove off to work at 6:40 there was the rumble of thunder in the distance. Current radar shows rain on the way and just a couple of miles from my station. Hopefully we'll get some moisture. By the By we have added another 200+ gallons of rain water storage to our capacity so we'r up to a bit over 2,500 gallons. I think I'll invest in the evaporation gauge and start doing that report as well. |

Good rain here at the station. I was at work so I can't say when it ended or when it was heaveiest. I got at 5am and there was thundrer and light rain in progres. There were puddels on the ground but no running water. This had deminished a bit by the time I left for work at 6:45 yesterday. There was 0.12 inches in the gauge when I check and emptied to mak my report yesterday morning. As I drove down the road headed east into town the rain strengthened for a mile or two and slacked of to a shoft patter by the time I got to work at 7am some four miles East of my station. rain there had water a few inches deep running in the gutters evidenced by the high water marks on ramps in the curb. Co-worker reports that the roadside ditches south of town the lead to lake Arrow head were running pretty deep and there were other such reports of uf 2 to 4 inches of rain in places out on the watershed. It won't end the drought but it'll help a lot. We need more like this one. |

Keep in mind that the 0.44 started at 6:45 am yesterday rather than 7am. This morning at 5am when I got up it was misting a bit, you could just feel it and in a flashlight beam you could see it go by. Seems to have stopped pretty much at 7am. Nice rain 1.89 + 0.44 = 2 .33 not bad. Face book friends report as much as 4 to 5 inches of rain around the area and others like me about half that. I think the water shed had it pretty good. I'll check the lake level number in a couple of days after all this has run off into the lakes.

No rain here but while driving to work I could see rain to our south and also rain in a swath from ese to ene of us. Radra shows it to be over in Manyague county to our East and on the Clay/Jack county line to our South. It all seems to be moving south so unless something boils up north of us we won't get any rain today. Here are a couple of Videos of Lake Wichita here in Wichita Falls Texas (Exceptional Drought conditions) Note that this is not where we get our water from, those lakes are at a combine 24% of capacicty (or less, I haven't checked in a couple of weeks).

Don't know where that came from. When I went bed about 1am this morning there were storms with lightning to my SW ( other places too but couldn't see them). No sign of any rain at my station other that the gauge. |

Heavey rain between 1:30 and 2pm according to my wife. Heavey enough at is height that she couldn't see the workshop fifty feet away. As for the flooding report below the gutters were runnning with abandon and the yard had water flowing enough to move the yard trash. This did not last more that a few minutes but was quite noticable. I'd classify it a short but intense frog floater. Radar makes it look like the water shed got a good soaking and a useful run off. |
