6/30/2015 11:59 PM 0.07 0.0 M M M Mid to upper 80's to around 90; partly cloudy skies in the morning turned mostly cloudy shortly after noon as two waves of thunderstorms moved through rapidly from east to west-northwest; majority of the energy from the first wave went south of this sta while most of the energy from the second wave went north of here which is why precip. total is rather small here; precip. totals were a bit higher north of here and all activity eventually moved off the coast and skies became fair again although it did stay very humid and today's max temps were reached in the evening after the storms had moved out; another complex of storms is moving west from Arizona at obs time and is expected to possibly cause more storms here if it holds together after going over the mtns; El Cajon set a record for today's date for most precip. at .20"; max temps today were perhaps 3-5 degrees warmer than yesterday; after tomorrow, slow drying is expected to start

7/18/2015 11:59 PM 0.88 M M M M Low 80's (today's max temp occurred later in day than usual during the late afternoon or early evening); starting early, about 6 a.m. thunderstorms started the day and continued on and off in 3 or 4 distinct waves; the first wave began about 6:15 a.m local and resulted in a downpour that left .15" precip. in about 20 minutes to a half hour; the second wave began about 11:35 a.m. local and only left .08" precip. in about 10 minutes time; the third and most potent wave startd about 1:10 p.m and left .55" precip in about one hours time; the final wave lasted til 3.10 p.m. and left .10" precip; skies started to slowly clear after that and there was no more precip up to obs time when skies were for the most part clear; records were set today, notably in San Diego which set the all time amount of precip for the month at 1.03"--breaking a 92 year record (with still 13 days to go--and possible more precip predicted for tomorrow afternoon and evening) as well as setting a record for the date itself; El Cajon also set a precip record for the date at .22" (much less than recorded at this station); temps today although few degrees cooler than yesterday never felt that way due to increased humidity levels with temps at obs time still in the low 70's
7/19/2015 11:59 PM 1.00 M M M M Upper 80's to 90; the day started out clear but cu started forming over the mountains fairly quickly before noon; activity drifted from the southeast and moved northwest along with rain moving up the coast from the south (the remnants of tropical storm Dolores) where part of that activity merged with activity moving in from the east and created a lot of heavy rain over the area; here, the rain started about 1345 local, turned heavy shortly thereafter and gave us .71" precip in about 45 minutes before easing up; precip total up to 1500 was .77"; from about 1500 local to maybe 2100 local there was just a fairly steady light rain which totaled an additional .23" and ended about 2100, with skies staying mostly cloudy and very humid during the late evening up to obs time when temps were still in the low to mid 70's; much flooding in the area and north of here too where the activity was moving to; two day rain totals were close to and in some places exceeded 2 inches; these two days were ones for the record book, both days separately setting all time July precip records; max temps today were about 5-7 degrees warmer than yesterday with the increased humidity levels making it seem warmer; (a 90 degree temp at this station quickly dropped to 84 at the onset of today's heaviest rain)

8/25/2015 11:59 PM T M M M M Low 80's; some low clouds early with mostly cloudy skies of mainly mid and high level clouds the entire day with an occasional sprinkle; some nearby areas did have measurable precip (under .10") but not at this station; humidities quite high today but cloud cover kept the temperatures and convection down; max temps were 3-5 degrees lower than yesterday; better clearing tmw will result in more TRW activity over the mtns and deserts where a flash flood watch has already been issued

9/8/2015 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M Mid to upper 90's to around 100; clear skies early but cu started building by early afternoon with impressive cb's by mid afternoon some of which caused flash flooding east and northeast of here in the mtns and deserts; cb's dissipated by late afternoon to early evening leaving a lot of mid and high level clouds by evening; today's rather uncomfortable temps were maybe a couple of degrees warmer than yesterday with late evening temps still around 80 and El Cajon tied the record for the date today with the highest minimum temperature of 73; more heat and active convective weather is predicted for the next couple of days with the possibility of some activity even west of the mtns to the coast
9/9/2015 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M Upper 90's to low 100's; not much of a cool down over night with min temps only getting to mid 70's; starting out with a few mid and high clouds with skies becoming variably cloudy during the day with mid and high clouds; most convective activity seemed to be north of here in RIV, SBD and Orange counties with most activity dissipating by late afternoon or early evening; heat and humidity quite oppressive today with max temps about 3 degrees warmer than yesterday; heat may have peaked today but at least one more day of hot weather and a risk of rw/trw west of the mtns before a slow cool-down starts Friday; late evening temps were running in the low 80's
9/10/2015 11:59 PM T M M M M Mid to upper 90's; another morning with not much of a cool down overnite with temps no lower than mid to upper 70's; the day was mostly cloudy with mid and high clouds with just a couple of sunbreaks; the cloud cover helped suppress the expected convection although a few sprinkles occurred here during the late afternoon with some decrease in the cloud cover by mid to late evening; max temps today were once again uncomfortably warm to hot although they were 4-6 degrees cooler than yesterday but San Diego did set a record for the date today for highest max temp at 96; temps once again were around 80 at obs time which means more heat tomorrow before an expected cool-down by the weekend
9/11/2015 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M Low 90's; another warm and uncomfortable overnite with temps only lowering to the mid and upper 70's; most of the day was under mid and high cloud cover; some thinning of the cloud deck by early afternoon allowed some sun which caused a limited amount of convection; a few cells formed east and southeast of here and looked threatening but they dissipated as they moved west; still a lot of mid and high cloud cover remaining after dark holding in the heat again with temps at obs time near 80; both San Diego and El Cajon set records for the date today for highest minimum temperature at 78 and 76 respectively; max temps today were 2-5 degrees cooler than yesterday but high humidities made it hardly noticeable; continued slow cooling and drying over the weekend but the newest wrinkle in the extended forecast brings possible rain into the area late Monday and Tuesday as remnants of what was Hurricane Linda will be picked up by an approaching trough and carried over the area--stay tuned!!
9/12/2015 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M Low to mid 90's; another uncomfortable overnite with temps once again not getting any lower than the mid 70's; both San Diego and El Cajon once again set records for the date for the highest minimum temp at 76 and 74 respectively; Fridays minimum temp in San Diego (78) tied the all time record for highest minimum temp EVER with records going back to the 1800's; the rest of the day was partly to variably cloudy with lots of mid and high clouds with a few buildups to the northeast thru southeast but even with more sun today TRW activity was limited; clouds scattered out fairly well during the evening allowing some better overnite cooling to take place; with more sun today max temps were 3-5 degrees warmer than yesterday's levels; still calling for a rain event from late Monday thru early Wednesday due to a trough interacting with moisture left from what was Hurricane Linda and bringing it through our area; preliminary precip estimates show maybe up to .50" west of the mtns with the coastal slopes getting much more; going to be an interesting early part of next week
9/13/2015 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M Upper 80's to around 90; uncomfortably warm overnites continue with San Diego tying a record for the date and El Cajon setting a record for the date for highest minimum temps at 75 and 70 respectively; the day for the most part was fair with clouds and buildups again over the mtns northeast thru southeast with a couple of them turning into cb's or TRW's but for the most part heavy convection was fairly limited and all dissipated around sunset; max temps today were about 5 degrees or so cooler than yesterday with more slow cooling to take place the next few days; temps at obs time were already in the low 70's which should make for a cooler overnite tonite; next up is the possibility of some rain from remnants of Hurricane Linda interacting with a trough dropping down from the north late Monday thru early Wednesday with amounts now being forecast to be a half to one inch west of the mtns with greater amounts at higher elevations

9/15/2015 11:59 PM 0.91 M M M M Upper 70's; a mostly cloudy start with rain beginning by late morning with some rather heavy bands of rain at times in the early afternoon with the rain tapering off to light rain, light showers or drizzle from mid afternoon through the evening; overnites were still a bit warm with El Cajon once again tying the record for the date for highest minimum temperature at 73; precip records for the date were also set in San Diego and El Cajon at 1.15" and .26" respectively (Gillespie Field recorded 1.32" but is not an "official station"); max temps today were 6-9 degrees cooler than yesterday; storm totals at the following local times as follows: 12:15pm - .19"; 1:15pm - .64"; 2;15PM - .79"; 3:15PM - .81"; heaviest rain was .40" in 45 minutes measured between 12:15pm and 1:00pm

9/21/2015 11:59 PM T M M M M Upper 70's to around 80; fair to partly cloudy skies early with increasing clouds by mid to late morning with skies staying mostly cloudy with mid and high clouds and occasionally some low clouds the rest of the day leading to a few sprinkles in the afternoon; radar showed large areas of precip south of the border and moving east over the water but little if any made it over inland or coastal land areas north of the border; dramatic cooling today with max temps 20-25 degrees cooler than yesterday but overnites still remained warm with El Cajon once again setting a record for the date for highest minimum temp at 70; still calling for a possibility of some shower or TRW activity overnite and through tomorrow but mainly over mtn and desert areas tomorrow if skies clear to allow heating of the still moist air mass
