An early morning shower was hardly enough to dampen the dust in the driveway. Noticed that some of the trees have started to change color. At 8:35 a.m. we have overcast skies with a SE breeze; 63 deg F. |

Heavy, pounding rain fell off and on most of the evening and through the night. It was still sprinkling a bit when I checked the gauge at 8:50 a.m. CDT. Cloudy skies, NW winds and 52 deg F. With this much rain noticed the marsh in front of the woods has filled with water past the cattails. Did not see any runoff on the road from the heavy rain. |

A cold Sunday morning for this time of year, instead of October it feel more like the middle of November. It was 36 deg F. at 7:45 a.m. CDT. At least the sun is shining today and the wind has turned from the SW, much better than the past few days of clouds and biting WNW winds. The small pond across the road and marshy cattails in front of the woods are still holding much of the water from the recent rains on 10/2-10/3/14. |

A little morning rain, winds light from the west; 47 deg F. at 7:45 a.m. CDT. Corn and soybean harvest is moving very slow this year. Crops have not dried or ripened like they should because of our cool, wet summer. Took down hummingbird feeder this week. Believe with the cold snap they have finally flown south. |

Yesterday was the calm before today's storm. At 7:50 a.m. CDT cloudy skies with a cold NW wind; 36 deg F. Winter weather advisory for us today, precip not so much the problem as it will be the lake affect snow with wind gusts at 40-50 mph. Not good for standing corn. Snow fell around 9:50 a.m. yesterday for about 25 minutes with no accumulation on the ground. Later in the morning and afternoon winds picked up extremely with considerably more snow. Snow melted mostly other than on the grass (slush) and side of rain gauge, tree trunks, and fence posts. Took a measurement of snow from the side of the rain gauge and fence post as the snow built up on them with the high winds (don't know if this is an accurate way to measure as I didn't have snowboard out). This morning winds have calmed, sun is shining with a few clouds and all the snow is gone; 28 deg F. at 8:00 a.m. CDT. Birds are flocking to feeders as temperatures have dropped. |

Bright sunshine but very cold with strong winds from the NW. Scary windchill keeps a person from hanging around outside for no more than a couple of minutes. Wind has blown snow into drifts in some places and almost bare in others. Hard to get total snow depth. It's just not fit for man nor beast outside! |

Even though it snow yesterday off and on the strong winds made it hard to measure snow depth this morning for everything is either a drift or blown clear down to the grass. Hard to get an accurate reading from the snow board also. We do have sunny skies, but still have a strong cold west wind. No temp to report, thermometer broke during severe cold snap. |

This is really not how I wanted Spring to start out! Was enjoying the yard just being grass, no snow to carry in on shoes, ground was drying and firming up, etc. At 8:00 a.m. CDT overcast skies, east breeze and 21 deg F. Birds flocking to feeders with the snow cover. Marsh has iced over with below freezing temps. |

This morning overcast, calm to very light north breeze; 60 deg F. Crops are suffering and even starting to see leaf spot on some perennial plants. Mosquitoes are growing in numbers with the constant rains keeping the marsh full and pasture grass lush. Have to move fast when going out doors - they find you fast. Just a faint light mist for about 2 minutes as I mowed the yard was the extent of our rain yesterday for a change. Even though we got a day without any measurable precip nothing is drying considering the high humidity and overcast skies. At 9:30 a.m. CDT light haze and humid, overcast with a light NE breeze; 73 deg F. |

Wow! It's been 12 days since I've been able to record "0.00" for precip. Field crops, garden and flowers enjoyed yesterday's sunshine and dryness. Mosquitoes are like B-52's with all the rain. Noticed field corn, sweet corn, and some flowers are showing signs of disease. Marsh is scummed over and small pond across the road is up to it's bank. At 8:00 a.m. CDT sunshine, nice southerly breeze and 74 deg F. |

What a wild night with strong thunderstorms, flash flood warnings and tornado watches out for our area. Lightening put on a show with three strikes right around the house. Thank goodness for no damage. Feel for the poor folks that were hit by the tornadoes. Can see the runoff from the fields that crossed the road. Don't think the ponding in the fields will ever go away. At 8:00 a.m. CDT it's the calm after the storm, wind light from the NW, partly sunny skies and 70 deg F. |

What a beautiful day yesterday with its bright sunshine, lower humidity, nice breeze and DRY! Wish we could have two months of that type of weather for the field crops which are suffering from saturated soils and ponding. At 7:45 a.m. CDT partly cloudy skies, wind calm and 68 deg F. A light shower before midnight and then a couple of thunderstorms through the early morning hours. Field corn across the road keeps turning yellow from saturated soils and is stunted in growth. A little cooler this morning and NO precip to report. After the month of June of reporting rain for everyday but 10 it's nice to record a zero! Here's hoping July will be a little kinder to the field crops to allow them to dry out and start to grow for those plants that have not already died from ponding and/or saturated, no oxygen soils. A nice warm, beautiful 4th of July yesterday. The last couple of days of dryness has allowed us to finally clean up the weeds and volunteer maple trees in garden. It's been a beautiful week of weather with calm to light breezes, sunshine and temps in the high 70's and low 80's. Field crops continue to dry down; will start harvest probably in the next 3-4 days. Still hearing robins in the morning and late evenings but think the hummingbirds have moved on south. |

Busy with harvest; corn drying down faster than soybeans. Beans need a good rain to finish ripening. Don't see much precip in the near future forecasts. |
