Brief shower yesterday, no accumulation in the gauge. Cleared the plants in the greenhouse. Some of the tomatoes (Big beef, one of the orange slice) were still surprisingly robust. Cucumbers were still bearing. I had already picked the first broccoli heads, very few side shoots. Br sprouts very slow, needed a longer season. Endive was tossed - terribly bitter. Next step is to thoroughly clean the walls, inside and out. |

Misty rain yesterday morning. We replaced the rotten boards in the greenhouse. He mowed and moved leaves - again! I pulled plants from the raised beds and some of the flower beds. There was a light frost last Thursday. Not sure what we will do today. We threaten to take it easy, but that never seems to happen. There is a lot to do this Fall. |

Almost looks frosty. 38 degrees now; I didn't notice the temperature earlier although I've been up since 4:30 working on the quilt. Practice quilting is finished, most of the decisions have been made on thread color and quilting pattern. The back is ready to load. It's taken me 6 1/2 months to get this far. |

Most of the snow melted yesterday afternoon. Still about 25% snow cover on the ground. Ponds started to thaw, froze again overnight. The wind was blowing hard yesterday, blowing snow over the roads in some areas. All in all, it was a pretty crummy day yesterday. The wind even blew over our Christmas tree - no damage done, but a bummer! Bob put an eye bolt into the ceiling and attached it to that so it really should not go anywhere. |

Busy day yesterday, starting with a skunk episode at 6 am. Artie got sprayed! So he and Jazzy got baths with the commercial skunk removal product. After they had dried, Artie rolled in the dirt so he got wiped down again. Alice's mattress was delivered at 9:30; the delivery guy said he had successfully used tomato juice, so Artie got a tomato juice bath. After we returned from shopping, Artie was treated with an odor removing product for pets. He is now pretty good, some odor lingers in the family room and little greenhouse. Our previous skunk episodes have been in the summer when we could air the house better. Hopefully, in a few days we will be back to normal! |

Big storm with high winds rolled through yesterday about 1 pm. We came home to find the furniture and plants on the gazebo tossled, lots of little branches down. It took about 3 hours to clean up, but no damage. 0.62 inches of rain from that storm, another during the night gave another 0.53 inches.
There is a wierd glow in the sky right now - the dawn sunlight is reflecting from a huge cloud towards the south. Interesting enough for me to investigate. |
