update, sky cleared by last report and has been clear since.
4:37p to 5:30p small, sticky snowflakes, falling ~45 deg toward W stick to side of new 4" catch. Bumped down into clumps, estimated about 0.4" deep. Melted to 0.05". tipper-dipper didn't read ruler in snow on glass table on patio read ~0.5". Travelling during that time and some areas snow was blowing almost level.

clear. Comet Lovejoy is slightly visible with naked eye in very dark and clear skies, but is pretty easy with a pair of binoculars on a tripod. If you find Orion and look to the right of it to Aldeberan, the eye of the bull (Taurus), then go west or down toward the western horizon about your four digital fingers width, you should be able to find a fuzzy spot that might look greenish. Each night is is moving about 2 degrees northwest, so it will slowly move away, but on the same track that took it across below Orion and Aldeberan.

Storm started about 11:30pm last night and was at 0.02" in the catch at midnight. Wife said depth in morning was a little over 2 inches. I read another 0.24" in the catch about noon for a total for the storm of 0.26" and almost all of the snow was gone. Channel 7 TV asked for pics of the snow when I reported it at midnight so took a few and a few seconds of video. They showed the video on their 6am news segment of the news. I tried to enter a significant weather report about noon and it wouldn't accept it.

In last 24h, shortly after midnight, got 0.05" water in my catch. Seems if I try to file this report a few minutes after midnight, it thinks the difference is the observation time is more than an hour later than stations current local time, even though it is just a couple of minutes but a day date change. I changed it to 00:01 and now, if it takes it, I will have to update this report tonight. I would like to get my report time changed to 11:59 in the auto fill, but don't know where to make the change.

Less than an hour after my last midnight report, the sky was beautiful clear. However, I forgot to report 0.02" rain occurring about 1700 because I was dealing with catching and releasing ravens and bunnies for The Wildlife Center up at Espanola, NM. I just edited it on my last report.
Now, it is clear. I just got a refractor telescope out of my car, but Jupiter is getting too low to see.

One short but enthusiastic storm about sunrise giving 0.01" in catch. Another later in afternoon produced another 0.02" for a total of 0.03" in the catch for the day. 1950 started hard rain. By 2005 I had 0.15" in my tippy dipper, which has been fairly accurate for rain and may show 1 hundredth high. By 2020 the rain died out and the tippy dippy said 0.19". About 2330, check and empty 4"catch of 0.18" so dipper was a tiny bit off.

I went to Frenchies Field, just down the street this evening a few after sunset and put up a 5" refractor and enough lens to give me about 60 power. I thought I might have a few people wonder what I was doing, but ended up with quite a few people who got to see the conjunction of Venus and Jupiter in the lens. It was exciting for them to see that and the moon thru a scope, and exciting for me to show them. The sky was pretty clear at that time. Now, clear.

Fairly early in the day got some rain. Giant hail (ice, half again the size of a quarter shaped like crushed rock) caught me by surprise and a lot bounced out of the plastic funnel of my 4"catch before I could get out and remove it. I figure the total was very close to an inch and maybe a hair more, melted. The first storm started with the large hail and heavy fall, then faded to average rain level, then another hail portion (ring around the cell?) that wasn't quite as strong and not as large stones with the largest ones about quarter size. After a calm time, another storm hit that was a mix of rain and up to nickel size hail and lasted quite awhile. A lot of the new growth tips and dead needles got shaken out of our spruce and pinon trees and the leaves of our wild mullen (blanket weed) were full of holes and things like the Santa Fe Flax was laying flat on the ground and even stems in the Russian sage were broken. Back patio had over two (2) inches of water covering most of it.

Just got back from a star party up at Audubon, just below the SAF resorvoirs. Few clouds, but mostly clear and got to show people the moon, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, M82 (the cigar Nebula), the ring nebula and some things like that. The sky was clouding up as I left there, I had to stop to let a doe get off the road, then the rain started lightly until I got home (~11:40)and it is getting stronger. It quit about 11:45. Checked my catch at 2355 and emptied it. It had 0.01" and one small fly in it. The storm cell was moving off to the N-NW covering ~30% of the sky.

Clear. At some point around 24 hours ago, we got 0.02" in the catch, but I have no idea what part of the night it was. Moon was too high to see the super moon tonight because of the mountains to the east of us, but got a few pics. attaching one cropped one moon shot. I made it darker so you could see more detail. A little purple halo around the full moon, probably still some of the Calif smoke. Tomorrow night, however, is the fourth, last and maybe best lunar eclipse this year, and it won't happen again for a number of years, so this is your great chance. It will be pretty early in the evening, so it is a good one for the kids, too.
