Very light rain/drizzle from about 8:20 to about 10:40 am. Then good heavy shower started at 1:58 pm (big drops) then had small hail or ice grains or crystals (not sure been out of Navy weather since 1999. They were like snow pellets about 1/2 pea size and pretty windy. This event lasted about 20 minutes and put .10 inches of precip in the rain gauge. Base got very little of this small cell that started just north of town moving south right over my location with the edge catching the base. Another shower with .01 precip started about 6:40 to about 7:10 pm or so. |

Noted the base (NFL) reported no lightning or thunder at all and their precip total was about half of what we received in town. Figures since they were on the SE corner of it's path. Good RW started at 1312 hrs lasting about 30 minutes then became really light. Noted TSTMS developing N-NW mainly moving S-SSW about 1400 hrs. Never got any until 1436 hrs as cell appeared to pass through town W of house. T lasted about 20 minutes S-SW of house. Good RW and RW- continued till about 1610 hours or so with no more T. Obvious good buildups all around but no T from them - did have the winds and some heavier showers off and on though. More RW after 2000 hrs that lasted till about 2120 hrs. Then light Rain began at 0430 hrs lasting till just about 0700 hrs. Big difference between NAS Fallon pcpn and house - again heaviest RW+ were west of house passing through town when showers began during afternoon. Wife who was as work said it was like a gully washer - could barely see across the street and it also had P-size hail with T. |

Wow!! Total pcpn way above NAS Fallon. Had TRW- begin at 2120 hrs. Lightning and T was off and on till about 2330 hrs - very hard to try to sleep through some of it. A couple Cells appeared to be right on top of us. Heavy RW+ woke us again about 2250 hrs or so with howling winds, lightning and the RW+ that lasted a good 35-45 minutes till it calmed down to just light RW-. Showers lasted off and on till about 0330 hrs or so. Saw sheets of rain outside in the streets - looked like a hurricane in the way it was coming down. Amazed at pcpn total - most I have recorded in one session at home and of such a short duration. |

Went camping on 7-9-15 and returned on 7-12-15. Had obvious heavy showers while gone - noticed potted plants had been rained on heavily causing soil to spill over edges outside of house. Rain gauge total when returned home for this 3 day period indicated above data. Spoke with friend and saw NFL obs showing good T and RW+ taking place on Thursday. Wished I'd been home. Did have good TRW near Austin at Big Creek Campground - but nothing like what Fallon received. Met old man at car garage who said he received .93 inches of rain in about a half hour??? Wonder about that for the Thursday time frame he spoke of??? |
